BetUK landed in 2018. Although it is one of the LeoVegas brands, it was the first to focus solely on sports betting. Since they arrived they have built a decent reputation for offering decent odds and market coverage, as well as being great for novelty and specials bets. But how do they compare overall?

First Impression of BetUK

By Luke Bradshaw Lee - This review will reflect the service offered at the time of writing. I signed up on the desktop version of BetUK, but also used the mobile version to compare, as well as downloading the BetUK app. 

As mentioned, BetUK is a sports betting site first, casino latter. On top of that, you’d guess as much from the name. That said, when you land on BetUK it feels 50/50, because there is plenty of casino branding and info. Once you land in their “Betting” part, things start to feel more familiar.

BetUK Live Betting

The live betting at BetUK is pretty good. They have a “Live Now” part of the menu that takes you to all their in-play markets, and the usual selection of football, cricket, tennis, plus a few others was there when I looked. Odds seem good enough, but there is one nice little feature that I haven’t seen elsewhere. BetUK has “Instant Betting” options. These are bets that are going to settled the earliest. So, for example, if it’s 20 minutes into a football game, BetUK will offer markets here that’ll be done by half-time in the same game.

As it stands BetUK offers live streaming on horse racing and greyhound racing, specifically UK and Irish meets.

BetUK Betting Odds

After looking through some comparison sites – OddsChecker and a few others – as well as a further look across alternative bookmakers, it looks like the odds offered at BetUK are good, but not market-leading. We checked football, cricket and basketball for in-play odds, plus horse racing and a few other sports for pre-match stuff. They’re very competitive and, crucially, because they have some sports that other bookies don’t, you’ll find odds for niche sports here that you won’t elsewhere.

BetUK Betting App or Mobile Site 

I quite liked BetUK’s app. Often, you get a few different menu options on apps – on the top, with other parts down the side, an extra collapsable menu elsewhere. BetUK keeps everything simple, positioning everything (apart from the login) at the bottom, freeing up the entirety of the screen for the betting product itself.

There are still lots of links and nods to the casino, which is great if you use both, but for a pure sports bettor like myself that will always feel a bit intrusive. It completely depends on what you’re after.

BetUK Football Betting

BetUK offers a very broad range of football markets, with odds that are competitive. There’s obviously the major leagues and competitions, but bettors can also find domestic leagues as varied as Saudi Arabia, Uruguay and Costa Rica. There is a good range, but it wouldn’t be right up with the very best. There are also some decent promotions running that are football-specific.

Bet Builder 

There’s a good amount of markets within their bet builder feature, not loads, but good enough. I would  like to see a few more (there are no player fouls committed, or player tackles), but to be honest, these might be added closer to the time. On top of the bet builder, there are also Pre-Packs – small, pre-made bet builders of two to five legs that people can take advantage of.

Bonuses

As well as the welcome offer there are a few different promotions to take advantage of. BetUK’s punters can get a 50% profit boost on any seven-leg acca, with a max stake of £20, and this on top of two £3 free bets and two £5 free bet builders every week. It’s also worth checking out their “BetUK Specials” in the menu, which will take you straight to a selection of boosted markets.

Cash Out

Cashout is a very important betting feature for punters these days so it's crucial that bookies integrate this feature into their mobile betting apps. BetUK have done this well, allowing their customers to instantly cash out their bets on any device they like.

BetUK Horse Racing

The horse racing section at BetUK is pretty good. The odds are competitive enough, and the market coverage is great – South Africa, the US, France, Australia and more on top of UK and Irish meets. That said, there isn’t much in the way of promotions, which is a bit disappointing to see.

BetUK also has BOG (Best Odds Guaranteed). This is on all UK racing, with multiples included. Unfortunately it’s only from 11:00am, but the good news is that their cap is set at £10,000.

BetUK US Sports Betting

A full range of American Sports is available. Of the major leagues in the US, there’s no MLB season currently, but it’s good to see some futures and outrights, regardless. 

American Football Betting

BetUK offers amazing odds on NFL, NCAA and CFL games. They are as good as the others in this list and definitely should be a port of call when hunting for the best value and getting ahead of line changes. What will determine whether as a punter you go for BetUK over the likes of some bookies ranked higher than them is the fact that they don’t have great cash out options, but do offer acca insurance. Basketball Betting

There’s a pretty good selection of leagues here in terms of global coverage. There’s obviously the NBA, but BetUK covers a wide range of EuroCup, FIBA tournaments and similar. There are also events in Argentina, Bulgaria, Israel, The Philippines and more. There are some limited player props on top of the expected markets, but it is nice to see that their Pre-Packs are used here (and in other sports), and not just football.

Baseball Betting

There’s no MLB season as it stands, which means that most betting sites in the UK have got very little to offer here, but BetUK is different. There are plenty of outrights and futures for the upcoming MLB season, with league winners, division winners, and a bunch of player markets. It’s actually quite refreshing to see. Keep tabs on the top baseball betting sites though, to see why they make it onto our list.

Ice Hockey Betting

The NHL takes up the bulk of space here, as expected. But there are also some French, Austrian, and Danish fixtures included. I selected an upcoming NHL game and there are loads and loads of markets listed. For the smaller leagues that reduces a bit more, which is understandable. Overall, I think this is a very good standard. Once again, bet builder and Pre-Packs are available here, too. 

BetUK Greyhound Betting

There’s live streaming on most UK races, and there is also Best Odds Guaranteed for greyhounds from 11:00am. I’d say of all the meets listed on BetUK, probably about three-quarters had live streaming as an option. Overall, the odds seem pretty good for antepost stuff, so definitely worth checking out and coming back to when you can.

BetUK Darts Betting

By Matt Edgar, professional darts player – In terms of darts betting sites in the UK, BetUK is a pretty decent option. The immediate feeling that you get when landing on BetUK’s site or app, is how easy and clean everything feels. In the darts section there are loads of pre-match and in-play markets on offer, and all have supporting statistics adding an extra layer to your darts betting, in addition to commentary and form guides. BetUK have clearly made a conscious decision to work on their darts offering and it absolutely shows.

BetUK Snooker Betting

Their in-play service for snooker is a real standout, while you can get some snooker free bets depending on the tournament in question.

BetUK Rugby Betting (Union & League)

BetUK Cricket Betting

By James Banting - This is generally pretty good. Ideally I’d like to see some more events covered, but there’s a decent amount regardless. The odds are really good, and this is probably somewhere I will return to for my cricket betting, but that’s only if the markets are listed, because there are definitely some missing here that I could find elsewhere.

BetUK Tennis Betting

By James Banting - Overall, I think the tennis betting at BetUK is decent. There are some competitions beyond the Slams, as this goes down to Challenger and ITF level. I actually like the way you can select the level first – Grand Slam, Challenger, ITF and so on – and then get a selection of tournaments from there. If they could add in more markets, and some tennis-specific promotions, they’d definitely be closer to getting into the top 10 tennis betting sites on OLBG.

BetUK Golf Betting

By James Banting - I really like the the set up for golf betting (and it looks the same for thor sports on BetUK, too). There’s a menu that lists different categories, such as Majors, PGA Tour, DP World Tour, Team Events and so on. Selecting those then takes you to the tournaments offered. The odds are great, but there’s no promotions to speak of, so if they could some more, that would be great.

BetUK Motorsports Betting

But for pure event coverage, and market depth across all motorsport, not just F1, it still makes it into our top 10 betting sites for motorsport.

BetUK Boxing Betting

Those this weekend and over the next few weeks have a decent offering, whereas the further away they get the less markets on offer. That’s understandable, and I wouldn’t expect to find round by round and the like for fights that are months away. Overall, I like what BetUK is doing, but there’s definitely some other stuff I’d like to see, as it feels a bit much of a muchness.

BetUK Other Sports Betting

Whilst these sports might sound very niche, there is still a large enough market for fans, and millions of them in the UK, so good coverage of niche sports and events is key to be reviewed on OLBG; let’s dig in a bit further.

Handball Betting

Betting on handball at BetUK looks great. What is nice to see, and not something everyone does, is pretty much as many women’s tournaments as men’s, with the Women's World Championships, European League, Women’s Bundesliga, and more. That’s on top of me’s leagues in Sweden, France, Denmark and more. Handball is increasingly popular and BetUK looks to be struggling in terms of providing a platform for punters to bet on various handball events and tournaments worldwide. 

Cycling Betting

BetUK offers betting on cycling for sports bettors who like to dabble in cycling betting, and comparing it with others out there it’s what we’d expect. There isn’t a load of markets, but that’s true of anywhere to be honest. What you can get is odds on next year’s Tour de France winner.

Aussie Rules Football Betting

BetUK can’t compete odds-wise with the very top bookmakers in the country, but they still offer an excellent product for Aussie Rules betting. The other thing that we love is the site and app’s design and lay-out. It feels intuitive, clean and as though it's been designed by people who bet regularly and know what they’re looking for and how they want to get there. It just sneaks into to our best betting sites for Aussie Rules.

Political Betting

Most bookies will do some UK and US politics, but here there is a much bigger range, with markets for events in Finland, Sweden and Ireland, as well as a general European one (next country to leave the European Union). My guess is that they add noteworthy general elections as they approach, which is great to see.

Entertainment and Specials Betting

There are UK markets for current awards ceremonies and reality TV programmes,, and US ones for the major awards ceremonies, but on top of that there are markets in far more countries than most bookies cover. Esports Betting

There is very good betting available for esports markets, with markets on games such as Call of Duty, DOTA 2, Counter-Strike, League of Legends and Valorant, as well as many others. BetUK Account Opening Process

A reassuringly easy process. At the top-right of the screen BetUK has their “Join Now” button. Bettors just need to select this and follow the simple steps as guided through. You’ll be asked for the usual information – name, date of birth, address etc – and once complete be sent a verification email. Clicking this from your inbox will redirect you to the site, and then you’re free to get betting.

Navigation and user experience [desktop v mobile]

The BetUK app is very good. The desktop version of the site is good enought, but the app does exactly what you want and that is not to feel too far removed when you switch from one device to the next, but also being product-led, and designed to suit its purpose, rather than just be a mobile version. The BetUK app feels really clean, and is super simple to navigate. 

Placing a bet

This section should only really highlight if there are issues, as the process is almost identical on every site. Within a few minutes of signing up to BetUK I placed a couple of bets on different sports, one of which took advantage of the welcome offer, and I used their bet builder feature, which was very indeed. 

Managing your account

As mentioned above, the design really helps this along. On the desktop version, it’s stuff to the  left of the screen. On the app, it’s all at the bottom, with just the login at the top. I haven’t experienced any issues logging in, or finding customer service options, either. Overall, it feels like BetUK has got this part nailed.

BetUK Review Summary 

BetUK has some holes that need plugging if it wants to compete with the absolute best in the industry, but that doesn’t mean that it doesn’t do a few things really well, illustrated by the fact that it scores in our Top 10 for five different categories – NFL, snooker, darts, Aussie Rules and motor sport.

On top of that, there are some other parts, maybe slightly more niche, that are definitely worth highlighting, such as their political betting and their TV & Novelty section – there are absolutely markets here that you’ll not find elsewhere. The Pre-packs and Bet Builder features, being able to use those across multiple sports, is fantastic, and generally the odds are pretty impressive, but you do need to consider a couple of negatives.

There is a lack of market depth in some sports, even if the event coverage is good, and there is huge lack in promotions. However, BetUK has definitely improved consistently since it arrived, and I’d expect that to continue, making it a very good sportsbook option overall.
