New boys Birmingham face a tough test at Old Trafford with Man Utd and Sir Alex especially eager to prove they can manage well without Ronaldo. Big difference in class and a sure home win.

Alex Ferguson was definitely not happy to see Jonny Evans returned from international duty injured, but the latest reports suggest Wes Brown may be fit to play. With Nani and Hargreaves also out, Ferguson faces some tough decision regarding the starting 11. Birmingham will have problems in the opening rounds as several players are struggling with injuries, and they definitely didn’t want to start ...

I suppose if you have to play Man Utd at Old Trafford then it may as well be first game of the season. However, Birmingham have abit of an injury crisis at the moment and will be missing two first choice centre backs for this game. Not good when you are looking at defending for the best part of the 90 minutes. Man Utd by a couple.

Birmingham City have been given a very tough return to the Premier League as they go to Old Trafford, but it might not be too bad for them. Hull pushed Chelsea yesterday and were unlucky not to get a point and I think the two other promoted teams did ok. Birmingham in my opinion are better equipped for this season than Burnley and Wolves because they’ve got a lot of experience and a solid manager ...

Obviously all eyes will be on the Champions today but last weekend Chelsea showed that they can be beaten if you play the same high tempo and add to the mix of in your face football Man Utd do get upset. Birmingham with the powerfull Heskey up front could cause a few problems, i fancy a draw, which means theres some value in the hdp betting.

Fancy a punt on FGS here and the Roonster could be the one
Man Utd should be way too much for Birmingham here and will hav ethem defending from the off, Rooney is always a threat and may provide me with some much needed LSP here...

Birmingham missing some 1st choice defenders, Rooney starting up front in a central role, will get more chances than he did last year, and more goals, can get United off and running here.

Manchester United often start the season slowly and I can see no more than a hard fought 1 goal victory for the Reds. Foster in goal for MU today will be looking for a confidence boosting performance after his Charity Shield nightmare. But with no Vidic or Ferdinand in the starting line-up or on the bench then he may not get it.
