After the impressive win of Sizing Europe in the AIG in ireland many of you will be sitting pretty with bets of 8/1 for that horse in the champion hurdle. It is now a best price 5/2 with lots of firms including SkyBet and Bet 365. Sublimity has drifted to 5/1 with VC Bet and our selection Harchibald is still around 8/1 with Blue Square.

First and foremost we need to look at horses that are in the first 5 of the betting. Being in good form and between 6 and 8 years old also are pointers to finding the winner. With this in mind currently the first 5 in the market are Sublimity,Osana,Harchibald,Sizing Europe and Katchit.
Sublimity is the current champion and is around 4/1 with Bet 365 and there is really nothing to put us off this horse winning again. Osana, from the all conquering Pipe stable is 7/1 with Paddy Power and the way his horses are running you would not want to lay this to a large amount.
Harchibald 8/1 with Coral is the nearly horse, he has the right profile but can when crusing find little. Katchit the Alan King young pretender is 9/1 with Blue Square but he may need another year to grow, he has shown battling qualitys but this race will be his biggest test.
Sizing Europe at 8/1 with Boylesports has run well this year but like Katchit this is a step up. This horse along with Sublimity, Straw Bear and maybe Harchibald are going to run in the AIG hurdle in Ireland and is a good trial for the Champion Hurdle. If any of those horses win the AIG with authority the price for that horse will be cut.
Of the bigger priced horse who may run into a place we have Al eile at 25/1 with Sportingbet and Afsoun at 33/1 with VC Bet.
We feel that this year could be the year for the enigmatic Harchibald. He has the qualitys to win the race and the commentators may be eating their words about this animal on day one of the festival.
