The ground and the draw are likely to favour Highland Legacy in Wednesday's Chester Cup, according to trainer Michael Bell.
Highland Legacy is 4/1 favourite with Paddy Power for the Chester showpiece following his victory in the Totesport BetXtra Handicap at Ripon last month - the four-year-old's third consecutive win.
That form, coupled with being drawn in stall six, has left Bell confident Highland Legacy and Jamie Spencer can win the £74,772 first prize.
"He's fit and well. It looks as though he'll be suited by the trip and as long as the ground holds at good and no faster, he's got an outstanding chance," said the trainer.
The news from Chester will have pleased Bell, as clerk of the course Ed Gretton told the Racing Post that the three-day meeting is likely to begin on "genuinely good ground".
Second favourite Double Banded (best-priced at 9/2 with Ladbrokes) won the Intercasino.co.uk Handicap at Nottingham last month on good to soft ground, while Greenwich Meantime (9/1 at Betfred) was victorious in last year's Chester Cup on good to firm ground.
