Just a quick explanation from the Hendon Mob about the lo aspect of Omaha HiLo
The Hi/Lo game is played exactly the same way as the Hi game with only one difference (admittedly, it’s an important one!). At the showdown the player with the best high hand takes half the pot. The other half of the pot goes to the best low hand, provided that it meets the required low qualifications. If nobody possesses a qualifying low hand then the entire pot goes to the best high hand.
The Eight or better clause relates exclusively to the low hand. To be eligible for a claim on the low half of the pot, a player must make a hand containing five unduplicated cards ranked Eight or below (that is to say ‘Eight or better’). For example, if you have an Ace and a Deuce in your hand and there is a Four, a Six and a Seven on the board then you have made a qualifying Seven-low: 7-6-4-2-A. Note that there is no qualifier for the high end of the pot – anything goes for high hands!
Low hands in poker can often be confusing for newcomers to the game. Indeed, even experienced players make mistakes reading the low board from time to time. The two key things to remember are:
* 1. Your lowest five cards count, but these cards must all be different ranks. (Paired cards only qualify as one low card, not two!)
* 2. The first card to consider is the highest card of your five, then the next highest card and so on.
In Hi/Lo poker an Ace counts as a low card when you are calculating the low part of the board. In fact, the Ace is the best possible low card, then the Deuce, then the Trey. Thus the Ace is doubly important in Hi/Lo games – it is the best card for the low side of the pot as well as for the high end.
Flushes and straights are completely ignored for the purposes of the low pot. The best possible low hand on Omaha Hi/Lo (and Stud Hi/Lo) is 5-4-3-2-A, which is often known as the wheel (or bicycle). You will notice that the ‘wheel’ is also a Five-high straight on the high end of the board, which makes it a very powerful holding in Hi/Lo games.
In Hi/Lo games, there is always an Eight qualifier for the low. In other words, to qualify as a low hand, you must have five different cards ranked Eight or below. Thus 8-7-6-5-4 qualifies as a low hand in Hi/Lo games, whereas 9-4-3-2-A and 4-3-3-2-A do not. The 9-4-3-2-A hand contains only four qualifying low cards (the Nine is disqualified), and the 4-3-3-2-A hand only has four cards of different ranks (pairs are also not permitted).
Any Questions, lol... _________________ If you try to fail, and succeed, which have you done?

Wow, nobody could have predicted a closer finish.
With half the field eliminated there was myself, gutshot and zag remaining and a quick calculation from myself worked out that I had to get 1st place and zagreb 3rd in order to stop zagreb from being outright winner and thankfully for myself that was the case.
A quick note before I put the final table. A big thank you to everybody who took part in this tournament series, I'm sure I'm not the only one who had great fun playing the different varieties of poker!!
Nice one OLBG....
Tuesday 6th March SHOE Rd 4 Results:
1st: rik_2502...............6+3
2nd: gutshot...............5+2
3rd: Zagreb.................4+1
4th: Jwoodywoody........3
5th: amy01..................2
6th: Veedub.................1
Final OLBG SHOE 2007 Leaderboard.
1st: rik_2502.................18 (4)
2nd: zagreb.....................18 (4)
3rd: gutshot_1................15 (3)
4th: jwoodywoody..........14 (3)
5th: Amy01.....................12 (4)
6th: Tunny0.....................11(3)
7th: Hart0388...................9 (1)
8th: Veedub......................2 (2)
Now after some deliberation and the realisation that myself and zagreb were tied on points after 4 rounds we thought we'd solve the tie in this order:
no. of victorys
total cash earned
if still a tie after these then the title would be shared.
As we both took 1 title I totalled the prizemoney gained and the final standings were.
rik_2502: $12.60
zagreb: $11.40
So commiserations zag but looks like the first OLBG SHOE title goes to the host. Very well played and thanks again to all who entered!! _________________ If you try to fail, and succeed, which have you done?
