First of all a couple of apologies from myself:
The error in creation of the round 3 tournament (an oversight on my part with the 1 min blinds )
and secondly the lateness in the table update.
But I figure you lot are a forgiving bunch off the poker table so I'll presume I'm in the clear!!
Now Bonak_Shed aka jeepster played in the mucked up tournament and not the repeat and as I feel he would be hard done by if he didnt recieve points I've given him 8th place. Again .. my bad
Final Standings for PL Omaha:
1st - Aces-Jones $10.5 - 11 points (8 + 3 bonus)
2nd - Burrfoot $6.30 - 9 points (7 + 2 bonus)
3rd - jwoodywoody $4.20 - 7 points (6 + 1 bonus)
4th - Rounderj10 - 5 points
5th - rik_2502 - 4 points
6th - Amy01 - 3 points
7th - Acesmel - 2 points
8th - Bonak_Shed - 1 point
So the points after leg 3 look like this:
1st - Burfoot 32 (3rd/1st/2nd)
2nd - Aces-Jones 28 (6th /2nd/1st)
3rd - Bonak_Shed 22 (1st/4th/8th)
4th - jwoodywoody 21 (2nd/9th/3rd)
5th - gruffe 16 (5th/3rd/DNP)
6th - rik_2502 15 (7th/5th/5th)
7th - Amy01 13 (8th/6th/6th)
8th - rounderj10 10 (11th/7th/4th)
9th - Hollywood-6 8 (4th/DNP/DNP)
10th - tigergambit 3 (10th/10th/DNP)
10th - FOZY 3 (9th/DNP/DNP)
10th - gutshot_1 3 (DNP/8th/DNP)
13th - AcesMel 2 (DNP/DNP/7th)
Italics denote finishing positions in each leg. (rd1/rd2/rd3).
It seems we're left with a battle of the big 2, AJ and Burrfoot. Burrfoot who has so far cashed in all the legs so far is odds on at Betwoody according to my sources however AJ in his poker comeback has locked horns the whole way and won't be giving up without a fight (judging by his posts above).
Anybodys guesses about the rest of the table I'd say any of the top 4 can take the title if the results go their way (I took the 2007 series going into the final in 6th place).
Next up is some pot limit Omaha 8. Also known as Omaha HiLo. For details see post below.
Good luck all. _________________ If you try to fail, and succeed, which have you done?

Just noticed that OLBG's sister site hasn't got a section on the HiLo aspects of Omaha, stud, lowball, razz etc. so i'll jst be copying and pasting from last years thread!!
| Quote: |
Just a quick explanation from the Hendon Mob about the lo aspect of Omaha HiLo
The Hi/Lo game is played exactly the same way as the Hi game with only one difference (admittedly, it’s an important one!). At the showdown the player with the best high hand takes half the pot. The other half of the pot goes to the best low hand, provided that it meets the required low qualifications. If nobody possesses a qualifying low hand then the entire pot goes to the best high hand.
The Eight or better clause relates exclusively to the low hand. To be eligible for a claim on the low half of the pot, a player must make a hand containing five unduplicated cards ranked Eight or below (that is to say ‘Eight or better’). For example, if you have an Ace and a Deuce in your hand and there is a Four, a Six and a Seven on the board then you have made a qualifying Seven-low: 7-6-4-2-A. Note that there is no qualifier for the high end of the pot – anything goes for high hands!
Low hands in poker can often be confusing for newcomers to the game. Indeed, even experienced players make mistakes reading the low board from time to time. The two key things to remember are:
* 1. Your lowest five cards count, but these cards must all be different ranks. (Paired cards only qualify as one low card, not two!)
* 2. The first card to consider is the highest card of your five, then the next highest card and so on.
In Hi/Lo poker an Ace counts as a low card when you are calculating the low part of the board. In fact, the Ace is the best possible low card, then the Deuce, then the Trey. Thus the Ace is doubly important in Hi/Lo games – it is the best card for the low side of the pot as well as for the high end.
Flushes and straights are completely ignored for the purposes of the low pot. The best possible low hand on Omaha Hi/Lo (and Stud Hi/Lo) is 5-4-3-2-A, which is often known as the wheel (or bicycle). You will notice that the ‘wheel’ is also a Five-high straight on the high end of the board, which makes it a very powerful holding in Hi/Lo games.
In Hi/Lo games, there is always an Eight qualifier for the low. In other words, to qualify as a low hand, you must have five different cards ranked Eight or below. Thus 8-7-6-5-4 qualifies as a low hand in Hi/Lo games, whereas 9-4-3-2-A and 4-3-3-2-A do not. The 9-4-3-2-A hand contains only four qualifying low cards (the Nine is disqualified), and the 4-3-3-2-A hand only has four cards of different ranks (pairs are also not permitted). |
If anybody has any questions about this variant do not hesitate to PM me or find me on a table on Ladbrokes I'll be more than happy to try and explain, being a big fan of HiLo.

Nice one Rik I think you got enough stick on Wednesday to assume you're in the clear sir!
I have noticed a mistake with your leaderboard though
I have'nt got any points for winning the 1st leg of round 3, you know the turbo event that preceeded leg 2, I have screenshots of the standings if you need them in order to update the current leaderboard...hehe
Cheers for you're hard work so far Rik, here's looking forward to the final round _________________ Don't worry, we've got Neil Warnock! |

fairfranco you're quite welcome. The more players in the more points available so not a lost cause!
Quite sure you can bag a top ten finish if you take the round 4 title.
I came up with this tournament as a way of competing against my fellow OLBGites in different variations of poker and to give some the chance to play that may not have had the urge to "experiment" with the other variations.
The points I would consider as just a sort of side game to increase the competitive aspect of the series. Bit of an ego booster in short.
Tournament is now open for registration
Omaha HiLo
10 min blinds

Well for all ur hard work Rik, you are forgiven for ur slight over sight into the first leg of OBLG Shoe Round 3.
As far as woody goes trying to steal some extra points, just ignore him, we were all making sure we'd registered for Leg 2, whilst woody was stealing our blinds And at 1 min levels that got pretty expensive.
Congrats to Burrfoot for another cash 3 out of 3 cashes is a mean feet against these sharks, well played matey. Also well done to Woody for stealing his way into
Cya all Weds for the final leg Good luck all. _________________ Think Big, because if you pay peanuts your only going to attract monkeys. |

I have a question re the Lo aspect...
What makes the best Lo hand? And can you put these hands in winning order?
6543A; 76432; 7642A; 6532A; 65432 ?
I got caught a couple of times last night thinking that because I hand a low hand to the Ace it was good. But, is the winning Lo hand one where the highest card is the lowest (if u see wot I mean ). Im thinking it starts with the highest (8 or better) then descends untils it hits a point where the oppposing hands are different and the lowest card at that point wins? But blooming hell I cant get that into logical thought in my heid!!
I havent really found the answer in my books (that I can understand), but because it usually recommends playing hands with aces Ive assumed that Lo hands to the ace are best??
Hopefully some1 will be able to explain in layman's terms so my little brain can cope _________________ 2008 OLBG S.H.O.E Poker Champion
