for cash and tv rights
The main (world championship) event NLHE starts
July 3rd
Usual days 1A, 1B, 1C, 1D, 2A, 2B, REST, 3, 4 etc
Player who busts out in 10th place will do so on
July 14th
The final 9 will then start on
Nov 9th (yes nearly 4 months later)
The final 2 will then start heads up
Nov 10th
Before anyone attempts to qualify online you may wish to ask your software provider should you reach FT will they pay a 4 month hotel bill

UK where did you get your infomation from that there will be a 4 month break before the final table will commence?

UK's right AJ it's on the official site !
Only thing I can think of is some kind of tie in with the presedential elections ?? they are on early November, just a thought.

The reason for the change is that ESPN figures for last years event were down. They had been praying for Scotty Baby to get to the FT but when Jerry Yang won it the interest wasnt as high plus the advertising slots werent going as hot as they hoped.
Plus with a lot of players still in Vegas hanging around or people pokered out the networks felt the coverage needed revamping.
With the 4 month gap Harrahs and ESPN hope for media frenzy
The US presidential election is Nov 4th
Bush (Republican) signed the bill that damaged online poker in the states.
If the Democrat candidate (Hilary or Barack) wins there is a lot of pressure to not only overturn it but to create a new online poker body responsible for US sites and players.
Maybe unlikely too but what odds one of those 2
a) winning the seat to the White House
b) presenting the bracelet
