I see that the main event Days 1 A & B have had some big name casualties already.
The early exists include this years WSOP bracelet winners Daniel Negreanu (with set over set ) and David Benyamine (AJ v AA when the case Ace hit on the turn), EPT favourites Juha Helppi and Roland De Wolfe, Brit favourites Dave "Devilfish" Ulliot and Ram Vaswani, Past main event winners "Action" Dan Harrington, Greg "Fossil Man" Raymer and lastly online phenonima Tom "Durrr" Dwan had AA cracked on the turn by A8 to a 8-J-5-8-Q board.
Players still in and fairing a little bit better are,
Day 1A Chip Leaders:
Mark Garner $194,900
Brandon Adams $176,450
Kellen Hunter $155,200
Stefan Mattsson $154,275
Patrick Fortin $145,275
Jeff Frerichs $138,025
Soren Peterson $135,475
Adam Hudson $127,750
Wayne Brown $124,575
Todd Rebello $123,925

the final of the WSOP has just completed and they've got a new youngest ever winner.
22 year old Dane Peter Eastgate takes the title beating Igor Demidov heads up. |

Well done Eastgate - just over $9 mill he takes. I'm sure Demidov will be a bit dissapointed at second for a while - but just under $6 mil should help him get over it!
Come on OLBG superheros - get practicing we want to see you there next year! |

I chatted to him a bit in the Ladbrokes lounge and he seemed intnsely focused.
He was actually there with Ladbrokes but like me chose not to sign their exclusivety contract and look at him now,the youngest ever World Champion and only a matter of time before his sponsorship deal with Poker Stars is upgraded to make him a full member of Team PokerstarsPro.

Dont know about the set-up this year after 7 days hard playing you are going to be on your A game and then have such a long break.Fair enough people could have used it to there advantage i know Dennis was getting coaching from a pro etc, but when it came to the finale table its not going to be the same.
I agree with promoting the game etc but im not sure if this is the right thing to do.
Also i thought it would be televised i had to listen to it on the radio and its not the same is it.
Well played Eastgate he had the nuts a few times and played them perfect flat calling, checking the turn value betting the river and getting paid off all the time slowly grinding away at demidov's chip stack.Excellent lowball strategy.
Last hand:
Blinds: 500,000/1,000,000
Ante: 150,000
Flop: 4 K 3
Turn: 2
River: 7
Ivan Demidov moved all-in with 8,000,000 (not much details from actions - post-flop, etc.. But the pot was about 12,000,000)
Eastgate called.
Showdown!
Demidov: 2 4 (2 pair)
Eastgate: A 5 (straight)

I think they probably don't show it live because it's so drawn out, when ever you see the Poker on telly it's been very condensed getting rid of the many hands where not much happens.
Showing it live would go on for a long long which is why I think they don't show it. |
