| i have heard that in order to encourage gambling and therefore make more more money the online sites give stronger hands to players. for instance if i get a pocket pair or any other good starting hand on a five handed table there is a much higher chance i will come up against a similarly good hand in comparision to a human dealt hand. im just wondering had anyone any views on this i dont really believe it but if there is any truth to it i would certainly stay away from online poker |

I would advise gettin your nose right into the online poker section on the forum here. This line of enquirey comes up time and time again, and there is always a pretty good discussion that follows.
I think many people have tired of answering this question over and over again.
My view is, that whilst i would hate to think that practice goes on, it cannot be ruled out completely as the software is just that, software that has its limitations and capabilities of manipulation of being software, If you see where i am coming from. _________________ NEW! | Are there any laws affecting online gambling or any supervisory bodies in ireland or the UK. If you compare the average pot in ratio to the blinds they're considerably higher online than in a casino. if there are such question marks over its randomness its more akin to the roulette machines in bookies than the game you play at home and in a casino |

This is because vast majority of players online are terrible. _________________ luck determines the cards, skill determines the chips |

Hi, I play at a particular site and on a few occasions played a hand I thought I had, and lost. EG. Thought I had a flush, but lost, usually all in, and immediately quit the table.
On the first occasion I checked with support and the diamond I thought I had was a heart. No problem, new glasses needed I thought. When I checked my history, there was the heart. What a numbskull.
this happened on another occasion, and a few times subsequently, and again when I checked the history, I was wrong abou the cards I thought I had.
However, having had this happen at least half a dozen times, the last time this occured I checked my hand history and presto, the cards I thought I had were there and it showed that I'd lost. I took a screen print and sent it to the company.
They admitted openly that occasionally there are problems with displayed cards but that it was my connection to their server that caused this. They also said because I had closed the table, there was no evidence, they didnt accept the hand history as evidence that I had found a sofware fault.
Now, my problem is that I demanded compensation, and they made some small payments to cover my loss on that hand. I then asked them about all my previous enquiries which I am now certain were not mistakes, after all its not easy to confuse a diamond and a heart and I could not believe that I had in the first place.
They refused any compensation saying that there were not software issues other than with hand history itself which they were sorting out!
My guess is that for the number of hands I've lost (and I play up to $5/$10 tables) like this the cost has been quite considerable. I'm usually all in when this sort of thing has happened, obviously with a hand that differs to my view. Hence I lose.
On the flip side, how many time have I bet to the River with a winning hand, only to fold due to a high bet, when in fact I had the nuts that I could not see?
Basically, I dont know how many of my hands have been accurately refelected on the screen.
20% , 30% who knows.
I demanded an investigation and heard nothing.
Is there an OffBet body I can take this to, and can I win a case like this, I have screen shots to prove this too. Much to their dismay. |

| fourkinggood - I'd suggest you start using a 4 colour deck, most if not all sites have the option available and it helps, it's very easy after sitting in front of the computer screen for a sustained period for your brain to play tricks on you. |

I have played a number of years of on line poker.
I have notice that if you hit a good flop some one will get a better hand when the river comes.
I agree with the software setup, most sites, have the same setups and the lower chip players have really no chance in staying in any tournements when they go head to head with chip leaders, also if they pull a surprise, they go out shortly after.
I wish the software be looked at and changed so that will be fair to all players.
I must admit, I have never seen a mess up with the wrong cards, But I will say this Bet365 and Sky Poker have good help lines and they will look into the problem and either give a refund or a token for another tournement. William Hill help line has not been that good to respond, which you have to email where the other two sites have live help.
The law lays within these poker sites and not run for the players but for making profits.
Its a shame this happens as I do like playing poker and I will continue playing on line, even though we do a moan about the setup.
For making a point, everyone in the world to boycott the sites so they would tidy up the software but that would never happen. |

For all of the reputable sites the software and randomness is completely above board.
I have worked for some of them (no names mentioned) so trust me. If you play a lot of cash games in casinos you would see that all the bad beats and coincidental cards and all that happen just as often there. Sometimes wherever you play your luck sucks! Happens to me plenty.
Good luck with your poker playing. |

| to be fair if you go out looking for things to happen your bound to think it is. If you look in the mindset that the cards aren't fair then thats what you will see |

Gents, anyone wanting the screen shot to confirm are quite welcome. post your email and I will send you the image.
I have not experienced this since. Coincidence or not I dont know, but if there were a bug (its software after all) and they've fixed it, at least no one else will need to go through this debacle. |
