| I know its early, but anyone got some early opinons on bets for this years green jacket? Am on Justin Rose at 35/1, lookin for 2 or 3 value bets to go alongside and would love to hear others suggestions. Was thinking of doing Stenson and normally do Cink in U.S Majors but his collapse at the PODS yesterday worries me! |

Hi,
got on justin rose just after last years masters at 66/1 and think he has a chance, just not too sure how much of a chance.
gotta think zach johnson is very good value at present 66/1. he's defending champion and his game is in relatively good nick evidence his 9th place in the CA championship.
think cink at 80/1 is good value. he is off to a decent start to the season presently 5th in fedex standing. others who could be in the mix at decent prices are rory sabbatini 66/1 (made good money on him last year), steve stricker 50/1, k.choi 33/1 and jim furyk 40/1.
i cannot be doing with tiger woods at evens, even though he is by far and away the best golfer in the world. |

| Reckon the price on Woods will lengthen a bit in the coming weeks, particularly if he continues in the same form...with Woods always going off a short price, the books are often under-round...bookies could aim to get some of this back at the Masters, by laying him heavily. |

dont forget tiger played poorly (by his standards) and was still just 2 shots off the lead...
he wont putt that badly again for a while and I doubt in a major... therefore he remains a justifiably clear fave... and even at "evens", you would have been paid out a lot in the last 6 months
a sensible staking plan for the masters is probably the answer...including tiger and then some decent long-shots (although the price has and will drop on a few "names")
rose is getting into form and I can see him on the leaderboard at augusta...but I doubt he will win.. there are a lot of players who will find it hard to close out a vistory, especially if tiger is on their tail > players like cink, garcia, rose etc
ogilvy is a player i like..nice balanced swing and has the temperament required... VJ used to but seems to have the wobbles when in contention recently... can shoot low but the winning mentality is a vital difference these days
players like johnson and sabba are interesting as they seem to not care - they just go for it...which can work wonders or could be catastrophic at augusta!
baddeley is worth a look for sure as he is a superb putter... augusta's usual defence against these guys is the greens so you need to be on top of your short game to feature...
should be a cracking tourney |

what do you mean johnson doesnt care and just goes for it? He layed up on every single par 5 last year.. |

abcs > you like to pick holes don't you ?!
I'm presuming you're american and thus it might be my vernacular... "going for it" is not meant as in reaching par 5s in 2... it was meant as being more carefree with the attitude...ie not afraid to win (not choking), which a lot of players are...
johnson isn't a long hitter (186th last yr on tour I think) so often will Lay up - he was -11 for par5s last yr > but he went for birdies and got clear of the field which was impressive for a player of his ranking / supposed ability
hence my comment
good luck with whoever you pick... |

| Not picking holes.. just dont see how you can compare sabbos game with zachs there is not one similarity between them. I still dont understand the going for comment, but thats fine. Good luck with your plays. |
