good to see Andres Romero win last week in the US as I tipped him pre-season to be a winner and possibly a star of the season
this week, decent field assembled in Houston - apparently the course is set up nicely for them all to pepper their cards with birdies so could well be down to a putting contest
I'm skipping Micko, Harry and Stricker... looking bit further down the market
the picks for me are APPLEBY who is having a cracking season (5 top10s in 7 events) and has a superb record here (2 wins & twice runner-up) - happens that Houston is his home these days and if he can continue his cracking start to the season, and keep his putter as hot as it has been, then he looks the best value pick this week - 22/1 still available on him
CHOI as he is resident locally and will have decent support - this combined with his excellent steady form means he is a pick at 20/1
SCOTT as defending champ has shown consistency this yr and should be up there but not too keen at 12/1
MAHAN was one of my pre-season tips and has shown signs of getting it together recently..could be value @ 33/1 although that price looks more based on ability than form... he will click soon I am sure...
BADDELEY is such a good putter and has the ability so he may well be around too 33/1 - would defer to his fellow Aussie, Appleby if I had to but a good strong showing from them both would be no surprise... add in Allenby and Ogilvy amongst others and the Aussies are looking good these days
long shots > COUPLES always does well here if you fancy that at 169 (Betfair).. I prefer SUTHERLAND as he's playing and scoring much better than his price would indicate.. 150 available on him
also watching PEREZ @ 89 and McLACHLIN @ 149 as think both could show up well this week (both players are playing well and prices look bit high)
overall > I'm going for Appleby to win, with Choi, Mahan, Scott and Baddeley to fill the places... Sutherland as a decent outsider for trading...
good luck all |

Wow u all go with Aussies...
I´m going the other way with my bet of the week.
StanJames with 3,5 if an american wins, seems too high I believe. But I take the ML with "Rest of the World" @ 9 which would give me around 3,1.
Also went with Putnam over Björnstad 1,9 @ Unibet. The Norwegian out of form and Putnam is a guy I like. Tried him E/W as well.
GL every1, if someone picks a winning bet we´ve done well |

Can someone tell me if a 72 hole match bet is the same as a tournament match up but with tie.
Plus on Bet365 does anybody know when/if they offer tourny match ups for the european tour as well as the pga. |

| Watch out Phil , another lefty is coming. The kiwi Tim Wilkinson has hit a purple patch recently and is a nice Each Way pick at 100/1. The guy reminds me of the film 'tin cup' - he always goes for it. |

Anybody else ever get that feeling that the betting Gods just love to kick you when you're down. Had backed Scott 2 weeks ago and felt he could've won, missing some very holeable birdie opportunities but ended up fading away badly from the main leaders on the final round.
So I say, no, leave him alone this week, and what does he do, shoot 63 on day 1 and not a bogey in sight.
Ouch!! |

My Putnam bet was weak, MC
But my "American winner" bet looks ok so far. The weather helps Scott down the leaderboard and Goggin is the number 1 threat right now.
However 3,5 was a fine odds. |
