After all the trials and tribulations of the masters, we return to some european golf on Sky this week with the Volvo China Open. A really poor field turning out for it but there are one or two who stand out for me.
S Klejdsen - A player who has really come on leaps and bounds in the past year. A few weeks ago he played in the WGC where he finished in the top ten after three fantastic rounds of golf - if it wasnt for a average other round he could have well been up there. Did well in the portugal open two weeks ago finishing near the top .Nearly won in the Volvo last year where he took it to a playoff but a win is surely round the corner. He wont get a better opportunity than this. 28/1
Lets hope the Masters has encouraged more forum posters to get down here to the golf section. |

Have this between Kjedsen and mcdowell. both have good past history here. Kjedsen has been putting in some great round lately. Also has a great driving accuracy which is beneficial here Mcdoweel has benn in great form finishing in the top 10 on 5 out 11 starts and in that winning 1. in all starts at the course has finished from earliest 39th, 2nd, 9th, 6th.
Mcdowell 12/1 e/w
Kjedsen 23/1 e/w |

This course has not been used for a European Tour event 4 over a decade so no course form to go on.... This always makes it even trickier! I like Kjeldsen and is always a solid bet as he always gives 110 %, although i hold a slight doubt his ability to win (1 win on tour but a lot of top 10s), but guaranteed a run for ya money and good for a place.
My pick for this week is guna be Raphael Jacquelin, i fancy him to continue the french winners on tour at the moment (he is probably the classiest of the lot), Rapha won in Asia last year and has put in some impressive showings this season in Asia, including 4th in India. The one concern is that he has had a month off, although im guna view this as a positive and hope he is raring to go and ready to emulate Levet and Bourdys success, im on at 40/1
Good luck all |

The event in China is very very Open...this means there can be some real value in EW bets such as Miles Tunnicliff a couple of weeks ago...finished second at 200/1.....40/1 winner !
McDowell has clear chance in my book and should be a covering EW bet, but still studying the field looking at the outsiders |

Ive backed BRIER last couple of wks so bit daft not to follow him this week as he is defending champ... 40/1 interests but not sur ehe is quite back to his best yet
agree with KJELDSEN as a decent tip...in form and looks like featuring regularly, does need to step up and win something soon though... he and HEDBLOM have been players to back recently but need some wins!
damien MCGRANE appeals at 66/1, good result in portugal and odds look too high for me, not sure why as his stats aren't great but I think he has a chance of doing something this week. ... pelle EDBERG likewise is high at 70/1 after some decent perfs recently.. and marko ILONEN at 59 (Betfair) too
of these, tend to agree with previous comments and will probably back KJELDSEN, with bit of interest in MCGRANE and EDBERG
good luck all |

Howell @ 21 is my pick
David Howell has what could be vital for this tournament and that is a win on Chinese mainland. I think its very important when playing these events that a player has won in China and has good experience of similar courses. He had a good week last week finishing 2nd in the Estoril Open in Portugal, he will be very confident heading in to this one and his game is improving since changing coaches. _________________ Read my Boxing blogs, previews of fights happening all over the World. Have nailed my colours to Jacquelin's mast this week, thought long and hard about staying with Kjeldsen but his disappointing final round last time out swayed me to look for a bit of value this time around.
Good luck to all. |

It really gives you a lot of confidence when you come on here to give your selection and see that just about everyone has the same feelings.
I have had a pretty big bet at 25/1 on Soren Kjeldsen, and think that this will be his week. In form, good stats for this type of course. Great stuff.
By the way, some one mentioned Raphael Jacquelin. I think he is a great golfer, and have backed him several times over the years, however some one said that he had been off for a months break and expected him to be back refreshed ec. He was actually off the tour as a very close friend passed away, then two weeks after that his father also passed away! Poor bugger, I hope he plays well this week. Would be nice to see him go well in the event for hismate and his father. Will be good to watch butnot sure I would be wanting any money on it, incase he pulls out or it all becomes to much for him.
Best of luck Raphael, lets see you back in that winners circle real soon!! _________________ Living the Dream! |
