Hey all, whats everyones fancy for the Asian Open? Confused

I like the look of New Zealand's Mark Brown, available around 33/1. Also think Louis Oostheuizen could be a nice bet at around 50s, but am put off by his recent form!

Good luck all!

morning...

you could be right with Brown as he is a decent player and knows how to win... Jacquelin is the defending champ here and last yr another of our recent faves, Kjeldsen, was 2nd

GOOSEN and STENSON catch the eye obviously this week... class players who if in form should be up there if not winning... consequently they lead the market at about 12/1

I have been backing BRIER for the last few wks...came 5th last wk (40/1) without ever threatening to win... was joint 5th here last yr so has some course form... I think I'll stick with him a bit longer, his putting is good and if he can build on his recent performances then could be in with a shout - available at 33/1

jeev milkha SINGH is a definite interest - a decent golfer who has done well on his US tour visits recently... 2nd in Ballantine and 25th in Masters... is 58 under par for last 6 events, was 2nd in the Indonesian Open in feb > only doubt I have with him is he isn't the most accurate off the tee which could be a problem this week.. currently 28/1 best though which does appeal

at longer odds >

francesco MOLINARI interests me this week as he is accurate off the tee and decent on GIR... not the longest but if he can get his game going then he could be value at 99 on Betfair

robert-jan DERKSEN might provide some value, 99 on Betfair - a decent puttter who is consistent > has been between 20th & 50th in his last 6 events... could be the week he heads towards the top 10 perhaps.. might be worth trading

also had a feeling about DELAMONTAGNE...thinkhe might continue recent good form by french players...

anyway... my top 3 would be
STENSON, BRIER, jeev SINGH, with probably GOOSE and MOLINARI filling the places

I'll probably back SINGH as a winner

good luck all

Gecko6 we think alike my friend.

I have been having a good hard look at Jeev Milka Singh this week too.
Played well t his first appearance at Augusta with a good T25th finish, and before that T39 Shell Houston and T26 at WGC, so he did well visiting USA.
BAck on the European tour he was an excellent 2nd in the Ballantines, 11th in the Johnnie Walker and 2nd in he Indonesian.
It is also worth noting his form on the course for the BMW Asian Open. in 2006=T26, 2005=T10, 2004=T10, so he likes the Lay out.
His GIR and Stroke stats are the best on the Asian Tour.
He is a great Each Way bet this week.

Also check out his countryman Jyoti Randhawa. His last 4 outings have produced 11-6-8-7. The latest being a T11 in the Ballentines. Great putting stats and leading birdie maker on the Asian tour. Also has great each wy prospects this week.

Anyone know where Simon Dyson is this week?? He loves the BWM course with finishes of 10-5-14-2 in the last 4 weeks, he would of been a great bet if in the field.

Best of luck everyone.

Im going to give Kledjsen another chance after he came second here last year. 38/1 is a price that can certainly be backed Each Way and I think that is a very viable shout. Not going to bore you again with reasons why he has a chance just look at the previous European Tour thread when we were all convinced he had merits to win.

Also agree with Derksen who is not a bad player at all. He normally comes out with a good score early on so backing him at 99's with a view to trade out may be a good idea. He likes playing in Asia and can go well again this week.

My main tip is Jeev Milkha Singh @ 29

His three Pudong starts have yielded a brace of top-10 finishes. The in-form Indian lost a play-off in Korea last month. His game holds up well outside of his native India and he finished in a decent 25th in this years Masters. He has won twice on the European Tour and his game is well suited to this course, he has a very decent chance this week.

Well Singh is joint leader, and from what iv heard him say anyone whos bet on him should stick with him, along the lines of he was very rusty today but his putters flying and he thinks he can have a really good week here.
