| PaddyPower paying first six places each-way which I thought was very generous. |

Nice to see some action here!
Iīve gone with three bets so far this week.
Beem to miss cut - 2,15
Duke to miss cut - 2,63
Sabbatini top SA with no bet if Goosen wins - 6,43 (9/3,5)
Hope itīll be a memorable "fifth major"! |

hi all
this week i honestly think the cream will rise to the top with a lot of the fancied players fighting out the finish on sunday. i tried to go with some outsiders but i kept coming back to the top players as my idea as the winner ;
last 5 years course form
p.mickelson 12/1=course form nr-3-40-14-won
recent form=played 10, 1 missed cut, 9 top 25 finishes
4 top 10`s, 1win and 1 2nd
form this year= 12-5-23-20-21-17-won-mc-2-6
no player has ever retained his title the following year in this tournament but i think mickleson will go very close, his game is coming to where he wants it to be and with no tiger woods in the field he will see this as a great chance to win `the fifth major`.i cannot but see him on the leaderboard come sunday night and he will seriously fancy his chances if so.
a.scott 14/1= course form 17-won-8-53-6
recent form=played 7, no mc, 1 withdrawal, 6 top 25 finishes
3 top 10`s 1 win
form this year=8-won-25-wd-9-17-14
you can`t talk about a winner without mentioning a. scott`s name. he has superb course form with 3 top 10`s in the last 4 years while also winning 4 years ago. .he is also a golfer in form with a win already this year and has not finished outside the top 25 in all his completed events this year. a serious contender.
s.cink 28/1= course form 39-22-32-mc-3
recent form =played10, 1 mc, 1d.q, 7 top 25 finishes
6 top 10`s
form this year =8-7-3-dq-20-2-2-mc-3-26
another player who is in superb form this year and ended his mediocre players form with a 3rd place finish last year.my only drawback with s.cink is that ,he should have won a tournament already this year and he does have trouble crossing the finish line.i still expect him to be challenging come sunday.
v.singh20/1= course form mc-13-12-8-44
recent form = played11, 1mc, 8 top 25 finishes
4 top 10`s
form this year= 17-14-2-3-5-36-2-mc-23-45-12
singh has been a model of consistency this year and will fancy his chances at his local course.he has 3 top 15 finishes here and could go close.he is like cink in that he should have won a tournament already this year.
r.allenby66/1 = course form 4-33-mc-38-mc
recent form =played 13, 1 mc, 8 top 25 finishes
3 top 10`s
as already pointed out in another post allenby is top of the G.I.R [ w.o woods] and that is a very important factor at this course.he has 1 good finish here [ 4th] and is another player in great form this year.
a few other players who could make a impression that i like are
r.goosen 45/1
s. ames 80/1
s,elkington 125/1
f. funk 250/1
ames and funk have won this, goosen has a 2nd place to his name and elkington has a 12 and 6 places in the last 3 years.
some players i will be avoiding because of their course form are;
cabrera, toms, sabbatini, stricker, immelman, clark, glover and jj henry.
2 bets i like in Paddy Power are; a.cabrera 11/10 to miss cut
jj henry 1/1 to miss cut
my idea of the winner is p. mickleson 12/1 [ 1st player to retain title ? ]
s.cink 28/1 [ can he get over that finishing line ?]
r.allenby 66/1[ great price and in form ]
f.funk 250/1 [ previous winner, huge price ]
best of luck everyone
ps,,this is only my opinion and players that i said i would be avoiding could/probably will have great tournaments

Swashbuckler,
Great post, but wrong tourny!!!!
For what it is worth I went with McLardy.
Right, back to the Players. My final two bets were:
KJ Choi: great current form and good course form
Zach Johnson: Ok curret form, average course form, but awesome GIR and Accuracy stats.
So we shall see!
Also took two head to head bets as a double:
Stenson to beat Donald at 5/6
Choi to beat Garcia 10/11 _________________ Living the Dream! |

the green in regulation stats say robert allenby is going to win because prior to the last three years the champion has been number one in greens in regulation prior to the players championship. on this evidence tiger woods who is number one in G I R is not here and robert allenby is number two in G I R and is playing himself in some form.
however on reflection cannot count on his reliabillity.
my tips and those that I have staked are
zach johnson plays well in big tourneys.
stephen ames previous winner and is good value
mathew goggin as a outsider and has game for sawgrass.
over the years I have never been closed to winning with bets at the players.
good luck to all. |

| I took the early 80/1 available for Stephen Ames. Looks splendid value for a place. Won by six strokes in 2006 with a score of 14 under. Good enough for me! |

Not having much luck lately, always seem to be either a week ahead or a week behind with my selections, so have decided to stick with a guy I've backed once or twice this year when he hasn't performed. Zach Johnson gets a tentative vote, more in hope of a place than anything else.
Just afraid that one of these weeks I'll go off a player like him and he'll win. Currently at 60's with Paddy Power. |

The most shots taken at the 17th the signature hole at TPC sawgrass is 66. the score consisted of 27 balls into the water. dont know who or when or if it was a player in the previous championships.more like a member at sawgrass but I know if one of my players do that does anyone want my betting slip for nothing.
Tune in at pgatour.com and watch none stop coverage of the 17th or setanta golf and setanta sports 1 for complete coverage. |
