Hi guys,
following picks for today and tomorrow:
ATP TOUR, PACIFIC OPEN, INDIAN WELLS, QUALIFICATION
KUNITSYN TO D MOODIE @ 1.62 at Betfair
Kunitsyn has a good return to neutralize Moodie's big serve. Better overall stability from Kunitsyn who has been in a fairly good form lately.
ATP TOUR, PACIFIC OPEN, INDIAN WELLS, QUALIFICATION
REYNOLDS TO D KENDRICK @ 1.83 at Pinnacle
2 home players with big serves and forehands but Reynolds has won both their last meetings plus has a better form over last month.
WTA TOUR, PACIFIC OPEN, INDIAN WELLS
LISICKI TO D ARN @ 1.4 at William Hill
18 years old Lisicki is a potential top 10 player soon with very good game both offensively and defensively.
WTA TOUR, PACIFIC OPEN, INDIAN WELLS
ERRANI TO D HAYNES @ 1.43 at Pinnacle
Haynes is a local wild card with no good results over the last year or so.Errani will simply return too many balls back and force Haynes into errors.

pacific life open tournament this week, excellent draw, should be great watching.
here's a link to the draw...
as usual, i've been tempted by a few long-shots, only for a bit of fun though.
tsonga @ 55's - tough draw but is likely to face nadal, who I think is suspect on this surface
radek stepanek @ 270 - has probably the best quarter of the draw, he looked good in his last tournament and could spring a surprise, although i'm sure most people will laugh!
soderling @ 80 - my main bet, i reckon he's one of the form players on tour and is capable of going far.
michael llodra @ 190 - another player in great form on tour, has a reasonable draw as well.
roddick @ 18 - won dubai, i think he can go far here as well, although he has federer in his quarter...
also considered blake @ 55 but decided to leave alone...too many selections otherwise
overall, i'd be surprised if one out of federer, roddick or djokovic didn't win, but as we've seen in the last few tournaments, lively outsiders at nice prices tend to find a way through the draw and may give decent opportunities for hedging later on. _________________ Corner vulture

I agree with Tsonga @ 55's
I think Almagro is worth a punt e/w @ 250's
He will probably meet Roger Federer in the third round. And he won't have a better chance to beat him. Coming off some great wins, Almagro is showing increasing maturity. I just hope Federer's first round doesn't look to messy, which will mess the odds up. |

hmmm not the best start for my outright bets...but after seeing tsonga yesterday against sela, I still think he's decent value to go further - he looked absolutely awesome at times and certainly hasn't lost his touch from the aus open. _________________ Corner vulture

Hi guys,
following picks for today and tomorrow:
WTA TOUR, PACIFIC OPEN, INDIAN WELLS
DAVENPORT TO D BARTOLI @ 1.35 at Betfair
Davenport likes playing offensive opponents (and hates playing against defensive opponents). She is always very good on US hard courts and simply has too much power for Bartoli.
WTA TOUR, PACIFIC OPEN, INDIAN WELLS
HANTUCHOVA TO D MIRZA @ 1.4 at interwetten
Hantuchova is having a very good 2008 reaching SF of Australian Open and being unlucky losing to Ivanovic there. Just yesterday she told the press that Indian Wells is probably her favorite tournament having won it a few years ago.

When I saw Davenport priced @ 1.35 or so against Bartoli, I was speechless. I was expecting Bartoli to be favourite, and then wouldve had a small bet on Davenport, but 1.35? That price is absurd and I wont be touching it, especially as you never know what Bartoli is going to turn up.
Did anyone watch the Nalbandian match tonight? I got the start times mixed up so I didnt get a chance to get on him, he won 7-6 0-6 7-6, does anyone know what happened in the 2nd set? |

well, there goes my outright on the alien! thought that this would be the litmus test for stepanek, he gave up the first set after going 4-2 up I think, then bandy tanked the second set completely, then radek traded as low as 1.03 when a break up in the 3rd set, 0-30 5-3*...then broken to love when serving for the match!
quite gutted as he was so close to beating one of the tournament favourites, would have had a smidge of hope of progressing towards the semi's. _________________ Corner vulture

Surprised how quite this thread has been considering the quality on show. Anyway went for Tsonga at the start of the tournament at a nice price but think his bid may come to an end tonight as I think Nadal will be on a revenge mission for the Australian open (he is the holder of this event too and no-one likes to give up their title without a strong fight). Tsonga has shown some glimpses of his fierce form but I don’t think he has been as solid as he was in January(Hope I’m wrong). I will take Tsonga for the better value - IF he gets passed Nadal I will be feeling good for him getting to the final.
From the players I’ve seen in this tournament, I have been really impressed with Gasquet – he absolutely destroyed Chela in his last match and feel he could go far in this event but need to check his stats against the players left – I feel that the above match will be crucial to his progression as I would fancy Tsonga to get the better of him if he got through. Like Gasquet, I have been impressed with Hass. Unfortnately I didnt see his match against Verdasco lastnight but if he played like he did against Roddick then I feel he will brush Murray aside and progress with no fuss - yet again, I would take Hass for the better value.
If I’m going to be honest with myself and the thread, I think that the real outcome will be a Federer victory. If the Fed express is over the sickness problems that Murrayfield commented on the other week, then he should coast to victory – I don’t think the draw has been that tough for him and he has looked as solid as ever.
Good luck with any further selections. |

R.Gasquet v J.Blake
Pacific Life Open - Men's Matches 2-1
12/5 0 0
20081016388
R.Federer v I.Ljubicic
Pacific Life Open - Men's Matches 2-1
9/2
This looks a very good double on set betting, value is the Federer match in my opinion |

Nadal to beat Djokovic @ 2.60, great odds on Nadal as I see this as a 50/50 match now that Nadal has regained some confidence on hardcourts and beaten two players who are normally very tough opponents for him. Also Djokovic was very poor against Wawrinka, his UE count was extremely high by his standards especially on the BH side which is usually the more solid side for him. If he is as sloppy again tonight Nadal will win this easily, but even if he does improve from that Wawrinka match which I expect he will, the surface here (slow, high-bouncing hardcourt) suits Nadal and he isn't going to give up the defence of his title without a hell of a fight. So great value on Nadal imo.
Good luck |
