I know its a bit early with Roland Garros only just starting, but what's everyone's views on Wimbledon this year?
I've noticed a gem of a price on the vastly improving Stanislas Wawrinka, currently 270 on Betfair, but for a top 10 player, I don't think the price will stay there for long. Improving nicely in my opinion, and could go far, but I don't think the price will stay that high for long, especially as he should perform well at RG over the next couple of weeks with his best carear performances comming on Grass...
Gasquet is another young, improving tennis player, and he has shown skill on grass as well, put a good account of himself up against Federer in the semis last year, and with another year behind his belt, I think he can go close here, 100 on Betfair is way to high in my view, and if he places in the opposite side of the draw to Federer, I think he would definately be one to reach the final at least
any early views or other nice prices? _________________ Top Football Tipster June 2006

i agree with wawrinka, looks a decent price.
but gasquet...wouldnt back him with counterfeit at the moment - he's been in shocking form, no confidence at all, and just today it looks like he's withdrawn from RG with an injury - was a candidate for a first-round defeat as well IMO.
stay away from gasquet! _________________ www.priceform.com

I've just see that, thanks titan, will be staying away from him then!
I would say Karlovic but he's getting a bit too old in terms of the quality around at the moment, and his time would have come by now at the big stage.
But in terms of a player who I do think can go quite far here, another shout has to be Cypriot Marcos Baghdatis. Pushed Djokovic to 5 sets in the Quarters last year, but 3 of those sets were tie breaks, I think I remember Djokovic only getting 1 break in the match, and that was in the final set, and in 2006 he reached the semis only to be beaten by Nadal, dumped out a certain Andy Murray that year as well. Still young at only 22 years of age, has a lot a quality, and seems to be getting used to the grass.
Its a shame he was dumped out of the first round at RG today, but he is just back from injury, a couple of weeks and he should be at full strength once again hopefully. , 150 on Betfair to back, but given his recent form at Wimbledon, I definately think he has a chance to shine _________________ Top Football Tipster June 2006

I feel davydenko @ 250/1 at bolyes is the stand out ew pick for wimbledon. If he's seeded 4 will be in the other half of the draw from nadal and djokovic, he has a fair chance of progressing , i know in the same half as the fed but his confidence must be shot by what nadal did to him in paris.
Davy had a great season and has at times looked awesome on the hard courts , particularly when destroying nadal in 1 atp final, i feel 250/1 is massive and 1/2 first 2 gives 125/1 to make the final the stand out non Betfair punt around at present. |

My money's already on Nadal and after watching him today I see no reason to change my opinion.
Faced a top grass court player and was able to beat him in 2 sets. he played some lovely tennis and has straight away adapted to the grass court game after months of clay court games.
He's faced 2 of the biggest servers in the game in the last 2 days and managed to deal with them.
Federer continues to win on grass at the moment but in the big games I feel that he isn't playing quite as well as he was. I'm sure he'll be glad to be back on his best surface but after Nadal came so close last year and continues to improve I think Fed would find it hard to cope this time if he played him in the final. |

neilhas - don't back davydenko on grass - he hates it!
he hasn't even bothered to play in any of the warm-up tournaments on grass this week, instead deciding to play on clay in Warsaw! _________________ www.priceform.com

Random thoughts about possible big prices for trading....
Baghdatis @ 220 is far, far too big for a player who likes the grass, always has the crowd behind him, and should reach the QFs at least. If he does reach the QFs, he'll easily be sub-50.
Hewitt @ 270 hes played some good tennis this week, and if he gets a good draw could go quite deep and like Baghdatis, his odds would crumble.
Wawrinka......am I missing something? Hes currently 750!
And in the womens.....
Dementieva @ 70 has more risk to it, but shes improved a lot, and should do better than her 3rd round exit last year. If she keeps her head, she could get to the last 8 at least. _________________ The only dedicated snooker betting blog on OLBG! -> Click here |

| Wawrinka pulled out of this weeks tournament with an injury. Not sure how bad it was but i'd look for details on that before putting anything on him. |

| Lay Federer is my only idea at this stage -around 5/4 way too short. Hoping for the "will Federer lose a set" bet at Wimbledon on Betfair. Any ideas if this bet will run this year? |

| probably will but i think the odds on yes will be pretty low as he loses a lot of sets nowadays though didn't lose any on grass this week. |

| Nadal has the mental edge over Fededer after the demolition job in France.. I think Nadal has really improved his game on grass and i expect him too put in a bold show.. Federer on grass and at Wimbledon is the one too beat though.. Andy Murray will get knocked out early too i cant even have him on my mind i think he is far too over hyped.. Hes not even in the top ten in the world.. |

Im going to put my head on the chopping block here, and say Nadal wont reach the final. I like Nadal, and hes improved a lot on grass, and Ive no doubt he could even turn Federer over given the chance - but I have this nagging doubt that he'll get to the final. A baking hot fortnight combined with Nadal's love of chasing every ball don't combine to a match made in heaven. I can see him having a few long 4/5 setters and it eventually costing him. _________________ The only dedicated snooker betting blog on OLBG! -> Click here |
