Hantuchova v Kirilenko
Hantuchova is Ranked 13. She has a Win/Loss of 20/18 this year, with a Win/Loss of 16/12 on Hard Courts (3/4 Indoors).
Kirilenko is Ranked 32. She has a Win/Loss of 32/20, with a Win/Loss on Hard Courts of 17/14 (0/1 Hard Courts).
Hantuchova leads the Head to Head 4-1, winning their last meeting at the Australian Open at the beginning of the year.
Hantuchova's last two defeats have been to the two current in-form players Jankovic and Zvonareva, whilst Kirilenko has lost her last two tournaments in the 1st Round.
Also worth noting that Kirilenko has only beaten 2 Top Twenty players this year (Petrova and Chakvetadze).
Normally I would avoid backing Hantuchova, but Kirilenko has such a poor record against higher ranked players, that I think it is worth the risk (small bet mind, as you never know which Hantuchova is going to step out on court!)
RESULT: Kirilenko Won

| Ok Once again im going to vent my anger. How the hell can Cornet call herself a professional tennis player when she is losing how she did today. She wins the first set 6-1, she is up double break and 3-0 in the second set but loses the second set. 6-3 She is up double break and 5-1 in the 3rd set but loses the set 7-6. Ridiculous. |

I know its ard to take stephen and I have been on the wrong side of worst than that but that is WTA to a tee. It is never straightforward and most matches are rollercoaster affairs that aren't good for the heart.
Mentally most of the women aren't to trong and they panic, so to sum ALWAYS EXPECT THE UNEXPECTED IN WTA

paul290603 - I would disagree there, women are pretty strong mentally but are also very emotional which I think people confuse in WTA too often...How many men could handle serving 10 DF's or more in a match and still win...Not many, ask Mr Coria.
Didn't have a bet on that match but to be honest the biggest surprise was that she was able to get such a lead at all...Her serving stats in the 1st set in particular were dreadful.
She's had a long hard season and just isn't the same player away from clay, and her performances in the past few months have looked very laboured...She really struggles on a Hard surface.
veggie - Brave man getting involved in a Hantuchova/Kirilenko match
Don't think I could back either player with any confidence at the moment especially at the odds, going by past history though I'll be looking to Lay whoever wins the 1st set and hope for a trade at least.
Mauresmo/Azarenka should also be interesting, Momo has lost 3/4 recently but does seem to be playing better and showed some nice touches against Safina before the mad Russian blasted her off the court...Azarenka had a good run in Stuttgart but did injure her back and her performance last week in Moscow against Errani wasn't great, she's had a week to rest and should be fit but Momo might be worth an interest here...Also Momo seems to like playing 3 set matches these days with 9/12 recently going the distance. _________________ "Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former."

no problem if you disagree with me jimmy that's what the forum is all about.
but imo opinion the women are nowhere near as strong mentally , you can use the word emotion if you want but its the same thing, an awful lot of them can't keep their emotions in check and lack an awful lot of bottle especially with commanding leads. There is a few exceptions but not many.
Regards

Just got home, glad to see the WTA side of the site has had a lot of input on day one.
I haven't watched any of todays games - it sounds though that Alize Cornet is having just a little trouble closing out matches at the moment. One thing for members to bear in mind, especially if the odds for her opponent look appealing.
Jimny2 You are right about being mad to get involved in a Hantuchova match. I somewhat rushed things this morning knowing that I would not have computer access for most of day. Call it complete madness, but I also had a flutter on Hantuchova to win.
I shall either be picking my shredded nerves off the floor later, or the Men in white coats shall be coming round for me!.

| I personally reckon for a betting man that the money should be going on Kirilenko. She has won 3 titles this year and i believe is in better form.Yes Hantuchova has a better h2h but is she the same player atm id say not. Also people say Kirilenko has a bad record against top 20 players but Hantuchova certainly is not playing like one, well thats my opinion. |

I didn't have tv access to watch the Hantuchova - Kirilenko match.
Followed the scoring though. Hantuchova was leading 5-4 in the 1st set when there was an Injury Break. Kirilenko won 9 of the next 11 games to take the match, so I assume that Hantuchova was carrying an injury.
Wish that injured players would retire - lost a lot of money recently like this

Anable Garrigues to beat Na Li @ 2/1
This is good value here. Garrigues has a ytd record of 40/25 where as Na Li's is 26/13. There h2h is 3-0 in favor of Garrigues and both have won a title this year. Tho Spainish players and Garrigues are not known for being good on hardcourts Garrigues has several doubles titles on the hardcourt including 3 this year. She also won a hardourt singles title in 2006. Though Na Li is probably better on hardcourts im thinking money is worth going on Garrigues and im backing her to win. |

Dushevina v Radwanska
Dushevina is currently Ranked 77 in the world. She has played quite a few qualifiers and Challengers this year, but in the Main part of the WTA Tour She has a Win/Loss of 12/15, with a Win/Loss of 7/7 on Hard Courts (1/1 indoor hard).
Radwanska is Ranked 10 in the world. She has a Win/Loss of 49/20 this year, with a Win/Loss of 25/11 on Hard Courts (1/1 indoor hard).
Radwanska leads the Head to Head 2-0, with victories coming on Hard court in 2007 and Indoor Hard 2006.
Dushevina has beaten Sugiyama in the qualifiers to get here, and probably should have beaten Jelena Jankovic last week having been a set and 3-0 up, and with Jankovic seemingly auditioning for a role in Casualty!.
Radwanska has gone off the boil of late losing in the 2nd Round in Stuttgart to Azarenka, and 1st Round in Beijing to Zheng.
Radwanska has the natural talent, and is a great anticipator of the game, but could be short of match practice right now.. It remains to be seen whether Dushevina has learnt from her defeat to Jankovic, or whether she lacks the belief to beat the top players.
Quite possibly a three setter here, my instincts tell me to go with Radwanska (plus she is my favourite player right now!), but this could be a very close one.
Bartoli v Szavay
Bartoli is Ranked 15. She has a Win/Loss of 26/24 this year, with a Win/Loss of 16/12 on Hard Courts (3/3 indoor hard)
Szavay is Ranked 27. She has a Win/Loss of 29/24 this year, witha Win?loss of 5/12 on Hard Courts (4/3 indoor hard).
Szavay leads the Head to Head 1-0, winning on clay in 2008.
Bartoli has retired from matches on 3 occasions this year, with 2 of these being in the last six weeks and the most recent last week. Of the last 22 matches that she has played, only 5 have gone to 3 sets.
Szavay has only played 4 matches in the 7 weeks since the US Open, and has one just one of those.
If Bartoli remains injury free she should have too much power and guile for Szavay. Bartoli in straight sets for me.
RE-CAP Radwanska and Bartoli to win
RESULT: Bartoli and Radwanska win in straight sets.
