Stephen Lee (11/10) to beat Graeme Dott

Lee leads 5-1 in previous matches between the two players, and has knocked Dott out of the Masters for the last 2 years, (6-5 QF 2006) (6-2 RD2 2007)

Dott did win the last meeting 5-4 which was in the Quarter final of the Shanghai Masters 2007. Since that Dott has not won a match he lost to Ryan Day in that Semi Final, lost all 5 matches in his group in the Grand Prix, lost in the 1st round to Mark Allen in the Northern Ireland trophy, and then lost 9-7 to Dave Harold in the UK.

Stephen Lee's form is not a lot better to be honest, and I do think this match will go close, but I think Lee has the edge in this one with having a very good head to head performance against Dott, and having knocked him out here for the last 2 years.

Mark Williams 5/6 to beat Ken Doherty

In the Head to heads over the last 5 years Williams leads 3-1, Doherty did win the last meeting 4-1 which was in the dreaded group matches in the Grand Prix, but that was the only match Doherty did win losing 4 out of 5 matches, since that he has also lost 5-1 to Gerard Greene in the 1st round of the NI trophy, and then 9-7 to Nigel Bond in the 1st round of the UK.

Williams also lost to Gerard Greene in the NI trophy, but showed signs of finding some form in the UK when he won 2 matches 9-3 against Ricky Walden and 9-5 against Mark Allen before losing to Stephen Maguire in the Quarter Final.

Doherty has recently become a Dad, which could possibly be a reason for the recent poor results for his standard.

I'm running a Challenge for the Masters for anyone intrested which you can find here http://www.online-betting-guide.co.uk/forum/topic16_17803.html

After almost certainly losing some of my winnings on Marco Fu by backing Mark Selby, I'll look to tonight's game to recoup some losses.

I like the look of Ryan Day to beat Peter Ebdon tonight. Day looked good when he beat Hawkins, and Ebdon will need to play well to beat him. 2.1 looks a good price for trading at the very least.

I just cant decide between Ebdon and Day they seem so evenly matched, neither player has really hit form this season, Day looked good against Hawkins last night and was close to a 147 and a player who is close to one must be playing well, so I would just go for him maybe but that may because im Welsh Laughing

Ebdon is a solid player and the way he plays can frustrate his opponent as he does take time, so Day will have to be patitent. Ebdon does have the quality but sometimes he doesnt play as well as he should, this is a game he should win but you never know. That's why I say Do Not Bet or I might just put £50 OLBG money on Day Cheeky

Its one of those matches that (for me anyway) screams 50/50, so I have to take the odds against.

I like Ebdon, and I took him in the Masters comp to get past Day tonight, but that was before Day played so well yesterday. I can see it going to at least 10 frames though, so 6-4 or 6-5 final score, so hopefully should be plenty of trading opportunities.

The only way I would get involved in this match is on Betfair, for trading. I wouldnt like to "pick a side" with a regular bookie here. (and its why I havent backed him on OLBG Cheeky )

And while I'm here, I'd like to point out that after my previous post about Selby, I'm currently dancing around the room with a huge grin on my face Laughing

Had you given up on Selby, betking? Laughing

I also like the look of the Welsh number 1 Ryan Day tonight, He played well yesterday, he beat Ebdon on their only meeting in the semi final of the Malta cup 6-3 last year.

Small stakes for me though (Thats all I've got left Cheeky )

My thoughts on those 2 matches...

Williams/Doherty

Williams has been out of form for as long as I can remember, and Doherty has underperformed this year, like Rads said, maybe his wife being pregnant was partly responsible.

Williams show sparks of form at the UK Championship, but last night he was at the BDO darts final, and he looked out of it, not sure how much (if any) he'd been drinking, but he didnt look right. Doherty meanwhile has said he's up for this tournament, but hes also spoken of sleepness nights, and how "losing snooker matches doesnt matter so much when you come home to your baby".

I wouldnt want to back either of them, good luck if anyone chooses to. Far too many variables in this match. Could be good for trading I guess? But if they're both awful, it makes it very hard to bet on.

Lee/Dott

Dott has been poor for a long time, and if things dont go his way, he seems to lose the plot completely and throw the toys out of the pram. Lee has also been out of form, but seems to be on the up judging by recent performances.

I'd take Lee to edge this, and I do feel he should be priced shorter than he is, but its another horrible match. My advice is to watch the first 1 or 2 frames before getting involved.

---

I'm much more looking forward to Wednesday's matches to be honest Very Happy

Doherty wins 6-2 Lose

Williams started well with a 118 & a 60 odd, but after that Doherty played really well, the best he has played for a long time.

Must admit, was impressed with Williams, and at 2-0 Doherty looked doomed. Then Ken found the form he'd lost and won 6 in a row! I can't believe that the 2 probably most out of form players managed to produce the best match of the tournament so far (in my eyes anyway).

For tonight, I fancy Fu to beat Robertson. Fu wasnt firing on all cylinders against Davis, but he'll be confident of putting that behind him. Fu is up for this tournament, and despite there being no ranking points, this is a tournament he has a great shout of getting to the final in. Robertson has been woeful this season, and after Williams and Doherty re-found their form, I'm hoping that the "re-finding" is done for the day, and Robertson continures to play poorly.

Looking at the last tournament, Robertson lost 9-6 to Joe Perry in round 1 in a poor match. Perry then got destroyed in round 2 by....Marco Fu.

Robertson did win 2 matches at the NI Trophy in Novmeber, but noth were against out of form players. His other tournament appearance was a 5-0 drubbing by Matthew Stevens.

Marco Fu won the Grand Prix in October, beating John Higgins, an in form Gerard Greene and then Ronnie O'Sullivan in the final. He disappointed in the NI Trophy, but reached the quarters of the UK Championship where he lost 9-7 in a very close match to Mark Selby (Selby who then pushed eventual winner O'Sullivan all the way in the semi)

For me this match is priced back to front. Robertson is 1.83, Fu is 2.20. Based on current form, this should be the other way around. I can only think that this is priced on "name value". For me, Marco Fu @ 2.20 is a great bet.
