Here's my two pence worth.
Leeds will probably win on the handicap, my regular bookmaker is only goving them +4 start and I may look elsewhere for +6 but regardless I think the Rhinos will come out on top, even if they don't win the game.
Wigan were a poor bet for anyone last week, they have over-achieved this season and were lucky against both Wigan and Hull and Saints were not trying 100% on the last game of the regular season seeing as they had already guaranteed top spot. Had Leeds not lost to Hull at Headingley the previous week and had the Saints had to win at the JJB to clinch top spot then the result would have been very different.
My point is that the week off which Saints have had prior to the final may not be as big as an advantage as many believe. Leeds were in full control against Wigan who hardly tested them at all and as a result the Rhino's will not have had to expend the energy one would have expected them to in such an important game; in effect they had a light run out against a poor Wigan side which means they will be fresh, granted not as fresh as the Saints, but fresh non-the-less.
I fully expect this one to be as close as the encounter a fortnight ago and though Saints may lift the trophy, Leeds will win the handicap. |

i think saints should win and cover the paltry handicap. the 8/15 on saints winning the trophy looks solid. when saints played leeds in the playoff they looked to me like they just wanted to do enough, they didn't set out to rip leeds to shreds. they hung on to win by 2 points. leeds looked vulnerable against a wigan side who even made a catalogue of errors (understandably given their circumstances), it was only in the last 20 when burrow broke the line and made the score look comfortable. i think the saints raise their game on the big occasion, and to complete a clean sweep unprecedented in super league will fire them up. saints have more strike players, and bags of experience, given the majority of this squad were here last year and in the fantastic world club challenge victory over brisbane. the main weapon of the saints is the new man of steel james roby (given his use as an impact player that accolade is remarkable and has to be admitted well deserved). cunningham is still going strong, then all of a sudden roby appears and the defenders must despair. he may well be the difference as leeds do not have the same injection of trickery on the interchange. further, at full back wellens is mr solid whereas brent webb, although talented can lose his cool. i think saints forwards are better metre makers and the saints backs shade leeds. this will be a cracking game regardless but i think saints will outscore leeds. also fancy leon pryce to score the last try speculative bet, but if leeds are chasing the game, stand off pryce can intercept or even find a hole in the leeds line. no serious stakes, just a dabble on that one. good luck regardless _________________ top rugby tipster april 2007 |

I think i will leave the handicap alone but St Helens to win at 8/13 looks a solid enough bet.
Im very interested in the Harry Sunderland Trophy tonight theres a few players i always have a few quid on when St Helens play in a final,Sean Long and Paul Wellens are the 2 most likely players to inspire saints to victory and both players are at a good price. _________________ 2nd Overall Copa America Challenge 2007 |

I know Leeds had already beat St Helens twice this year, but where did that 33-6 win come from? Did anyone here see the game? _________________ The only dedicated snooker betting blog on OLBG! -> Click here

Yes watched the game betking i thought it was the best Leeds have played all season, from what ive seen.Defence was awesome, didnt give Saints time to settle and get into their stride. All over the park they outshone and outfought the Saints. No disrespect to Saints but the best team won on the night.Good game to watch and what a time to put in your best performance of the season, the Grand Final.Well done to Leeds fully deserved . _________________ M.C.F.C. I only watched the game on tv but a mate of mine who went to the game said there was fighing all over the place between Leeds and Saints supporters inside and outside the ground.
I hate to say it but its no longer safe to let rival fans sit together in the same stand which is a shame really. _________________ 2nd Overall Copa America Challenge 2007 |

saint helens looked good for the first 20 but after that looked knackered. sky showed inside the dressing room at half time, leeds were bouncing and saints players were sitting down looking miserable. it seemed then they knew leeds were too fast and too strong. they were phenomenal, thoroughly deserved. i dont know how leeds will cope with the melbourne storm in the world club challenge though. should be a cracker!!
great season this year, and it seems apparent next year will be even closer. can't wait. _________________ top rugby tipster april 2007 |
