The Six nations rugby starts this weekend and if its anything like the Rugby World Cup we are going to get some good handicap opportunities. These Rugby odds compilers were excellent in a lot of their predictions during the tournament in France but there was the odd rick.

When they price up the handicaps take a look at anything that you think looks a bit odd, especially involving Italy and France where they tend to be a little generous knowing that the majority of bets are placed by people in the UK.

Italy +18 at 1/1 with Boylesports looks overpriced to me in the first game against ireland and i will be on that.

agree, nors.
i'm went for the same bet but only got +17.5. i did not even look at the teams as it is my habit of betting on the underdogs in the opening game of any major tourney.

France have been made favourites again this year, and i think this is definately worth opposing. They didn t shine in the World Cup when many expected them to,and on home soil,i can t see how they will have improved in such a short space of time.
Ireland will be their typical 100% every game and can upset anyone on their day, with Scotland who will struggle i feel due to the fact their only 2 home games are against England and France.
Italy have improved over the years and wont be the push-overs of old,and i agree on the comments by nors and shark sometimes bookies are a little generous on the odds.
Wales could be the surprise package for me this year,a country proud of its rugby could do with a boost, and i feel they are going to have a good six nations.
England are my tip to win the tournament(kiss of death) they look well balanced and strong in every departement and showed when up against it they can produce.
My idea of the final table is
England
France
Wales
Ireland
Italy
Scotland

I talked about the Bookmaker Rugby Odds Compilers being very good and getting the handicaps spot on in many matches. Well Blue Square have got this offer that looks pretty good,if it finishes in a handicap tie they will refund the match’s losing handicap bets. The link below gives you all the details.

On the outright its France for me. Yes they underperformed at the World Cup, but they'll be wanting to put that right. England overperformed at the World Cup and I dont think they have the beating of France.

France 2.76
poor value but I'd rather not oppose them as they have a run of 3 home games coming up after Sundays game away to Scotland.

England 3.30
I can see them struggling against Wales and I'm a Layer at 3.30

Ireland 6.30
Swerve at that price.

Wales 11.00
Back @11.00. 13 players in the squad from the same club Ospreys could mean we see a strong cohesive outfit. Will give England a good game in my view.

Scotland 12.50
Could well put up a good show in a wintery game against the French and will be backing the Scots in the match hcp. But no outright bet.

Italy 100.00
Swerve.

for me backing wales with the handicap makes most sence, gatland as coach is a/10 canny operater. When he took over in Ireland he turned us around overnight... and we almost took the French in Paris from no where. I think that the improvement that Gatland brings to Wales will be huge. They might not win against France or England.... but it will be closer then the bookies think IMO. Eddie O'Sullivan gets a lot of credit (world cup apart) for building this Irish team, but it was Gatland that made the mould IMO... so Wales with the handicap.... as my bet of the 6 nations.... and maybe a shook win Shocked .... not a shock IMO Wink

6/10 Wales with handicap

4/10 Wales win

Italy +16.5 v Ireland

Ireland had a terrible World Cup and Italy did seriously underperform, so both sides will be desperate to put in good performances today. Ireland should win this match but Italy are a far better Rugby team and they have improved every year when they play in the Six Nations. Last season they got 2 wins and will be aiming for 2 wins again this season, and one of those wins was at Scotland their first ever away win in the Six Nations. So they are going to take a lot of heart from last years campaign and new coach Nick Mallet has already introduced a new half back partnership with Biarritz player Andrea Masi who usually plays in the centre or the wing at Fly Half and Pietro Travagli who has only 3 caps starting at Scrum Half. Last time the Italians vistited Dublin in the Six Nations the score was 26-16 and it was a very good performance from the Italians and they should have beaten Ireland in Belfast in a warm up World Cup game and it was exceptionally close that day. There are a few Ireland players out of form and now the Italians have players playing on the big stage week in week out and that can only benefit them.

Over 42.5 in England-Wales game

I think both of these sides will go out and play some sexy rugby and although it will be very physical a lot of points will be score especially with two very good fly halves on show. You just look at Jonny Wilkinson and he is the face of English rugby and he just contributes so much to the team when hes fit, he has contributed seventy-one points in Englands past six international matches. Looking at the stats on games involving Wales I found this one and this why I am going for this bet, you have to go back to Irelands 19-9 defeat of Wales in last years Six Nations for last time there was less than thirty points scored in an international match that Wales were involved in. Since then, only one of Wales fifteen games (31-0 defeat to Australia) has provided less than forty points. So the stats point to a game with lots of points.

i agree with this malett does good work with his team and with conditions a bit nippy the ball out wide may be slow enough for italy to stop the wide play. Should Italys new out-half play well the handicap is more than generous.

note: not +16 evens

That England 2nd half performance was an absolute disgrace. How do you lose at home to a side which turned the ball over as much as the Welsh. Mad

Should never happen!

great second half performance by Wales with 3 home matches and an away match to a struggling Ireland then we have a decent chance in my opinion

any team that wins it's opening game has a decent chance
