oh dear, as per I belive the West Indies way, they are crumbling their way through the second innings.
93/4 leaving a lead of just 15 runs.
Samuels the last man out, a strong pair in now but there is huge amount riding on their shoulders.
Gayle and Chanderpaul, Gayle who is usually a fast scoring opener will just need to keep himself at the crease as long as possible while Chanderpaul will do his usual which will probably see him stay in throughout.
I'd say SA are a definate Lay at 1.13 for me anyway as I feel these two could put together a good partnership. 100 from them would turn things around quite a bit however West Indies have a fairly long tail and could struggle to score much after the next wicket. |

96/4 at the end of day 3 and you get the feeling West Indies were desperate for the end of play there. They've struggled along scoring at just about 1.92 an over and losing 4 wickets in the process.
They have an 18 run lead at the moment and know that tomorrow morning will be a huge day for Chandepaul and Gayle whoose job it is to carry the team.
kind of wishing i had fully traded out now but i half traded out then put some of it back on laying SA at 1.13.
There's some wishful thinking in this but both players have averages of 30+, Chanderpaul has proved nion impossible to get out throught a lot of this years tests and if Gayle can play with the same care in defending his wicket maybe they could make it to lunch tomorrow without dropping a wicket.
I feel i'm talking with my book though so I won't add any more! This is South Africa's game unless rain severely hampers play or the West Indies have an exceptional days batting on Saturday. |

i've laid the 1.1 on SA, couldn't believe it when those odds came up.
all it takes is a partnership similar to prince/boucher and WI might have a chance of salvaging some decent odds. _________________ Corner vulture

the thing is titan, even a partnership the same as prince/boucher (131) they would still only be 149 ahead and requiring i'd say at least aanother 100 to have anywhere near enough.
it would be a start but they would still need to add on plenty more runs from the remaining batsman, much better than they did in the first innings when the tail clocked up hardly anything.
I'm sure their first aim will be to make it to lunch without losing wickets with not a lot concern for run rate they will then try to open up a little to score more runs though this may depend on just how bad the forecast is for sunday. |

hmmm west indies effectively 79/6, need a massive partnership here to just help them crawl to about 200.
has to be a Lay of SA 1.03 for starters! _________________ Corner vulture

1.03 was a great Lay as SA quickly went out to 1.3.
in the end, disappointing performance by WI in the field, as they gave the game away in what they could have made a tough chase.
annoyingly, prince was given the man of the match over steyn! _________________ Corner vulture

bad loss for me on this game when i should have got out to a profit on day 3.
West Indies struggled through their second innings but eventually managed to get a respectable score, i was depserately hoping that Gayle would come back at the end and luckily he did but SA rushed their way to the 186 runs required in a rush to get the game over and done with before the potentially wet day 5.
Great play as usual from Chanderpaul with but i really think he should be either an opener or third in as he always seems to see the innings through.
Good little effort from a couple of the tail enders to help tehm along but unfortunately it was really the Windies first innings score that cost them. |

agree totally, if Chanderpaul had been batting 3 or 4 then they would have definitely got runs...but it seems as if he's obsessed with staying not out! He's one of the best batsmen in the world, certainly WI's best - no way he should be coming in after Morton and Samuels. _________________ Corner vulture

he's capable of good run rates, as he's proven with I think the quickest century at one point but it doesn't matter if he's not scoring quickly, it does any team good to have someone there holding fort and he can do that all the way through while others push for runs. Bar Gayle there's no one that scores a lot of runs at good run rates really, Sarawan is a big loss for them at the moment, hopefully gayle is fully fit for the final test.
I don't see West Indies winning as I think the first test was a bit of an exceptinal performance for them both batting and bowling but it's still worth a Lay of SA as they are underpriced.
the money could be made on all 3 outcomes in this test with the draw going up and down as well as West Indies making big moves and on a lower odds scale SA moved a lot hitting low 1.2x's before going out to 1.5+.
a good trading match but not an easy one. |
