good performance by england there, comfortable enough in the end
just shows how crucial the toss has been in this series, england aren't suddenly a bad side, they're the same team that thrashed NZ in the 20/20's last week. _________________ Corner vulture

i agree about toss being crucial in cricket. its a shame we have to bet on matches on here without having the option of the knowledge. effectively betting blind on the match. _________________ Positions now available in OLBG Lottery syndicate. 28 lines in each draw dramatically increases chances of a jackpot. I just think both teams are poor at setting totals, best to get into the match and bowl first as the pressure gets to these sides batting first imo.
Stupidly went for form last night though... small punts thought as you say dammo, we're going in blind. |

Early start today - 10.30pm on Sky.
I cant really see any value in either team for the win - especially in England at 1.66 - and so I am going to try the top batsmen market for England. My pick is Ian Bell who is at 6's. Starting to hit form and has posted a big score in the last ODI with 73. |

finally, might be able to catch the whole of the first innings!
good luck with ian bell, i think he's good value at 6's, collingwood possibly the main threat. _________________ Corner vulture

Also took J Oram at 8's to be NZ top batsmen. For me he is there best batsmen and is always capable of getting high scores - I think it will be only a matter of time before he gets higher up the order.
8's are amazing value. |

I think Jacob Oram could be immensely destructive on this ground, should be conducive to runs. He's incredibly under-rated, I reckon he's wasted at no 7 but he refuses to move up!
again, the toss goes against england - NZ win the toss and bowl.
High scores can be chased without too much fuss at this ground, pre-match I am thinking that 280 is a minimum score for England.
Both of these teams blow hot and cold, they're pretty much spitting images of each other IMO...right now the momentum is with England and I would narrowly side with them.
I reckon this match will be won and lost in New Zealand's opening partnership - NZ can collapse under pressure if England can get both Ryder and McCullum out cheaply.
good luck if you're playing _________________ Corner vulture

NZ need 341 after an excellent batting performance, but I have to say that the bowling was absolutely shocking, O'Brien put in one of the worst performances possible on a flat pitch. On the whole they bowled way too short and Vettori's captaincy and bowling also let them down. Good contributions all around although you can't help feel that Mascarenhas should have been promoted at some stage.
One of those performances from England where everything clicked, but McCullum dropped Cook in the opening overs which set the tone for NZ.
I expect 340 to be way out of NZ's reach, 1.29 is excellent value for an england win, it would take an amazing performance to get even close to that score.
More often than not, scoreboard pressure is too much for the chasing side so I can't see anything other than a thrashing here, maybe by 70 runs. _________________ Corner vulture

a tie of all things!
great effort from NZ to chase that total down.
you win anything titan?
i came out all square as the england price got matched for all my lays. didn't do the tie but then I didn't expect it to be that close. |

i had a few quid on england so all square there, lost on the innings runs market (how often to england get 340?!)
cant believe it was a tie, have to watch the highlights in an hour or so. _________________ Corner vulture

had england to win at 4/7 with PaddyPower. their site is down so i can't check, i presume it's a losing bet & not a stake returned?it doesn't really seem fair if it's a losing bet because they didn't offer prices on a tied match (not that i would have bet one one mind)
edit-site up & running and they have returned about 3/4 of the stake. can anyone explain why this happens? |
