hi guys, i have loved and played the game of cricket for years and now i want to start making the sport a bit more profitable. I want to focus on cricket for the next few months now that the footie season is over Crying or Very sad

I placed my first bet on Albie Morkel top run scorer at 7s for Chennai the other, can't remember the opponent, think it was Bangalore, but it lost coming in 2nd top run scorer. I noticed it seems better to bet on a batsman at the top of the order as they are likely to spend more time at the crease but odds look poor. Therefore, i won't carry on with this top runscorer thing.
Does anyone know what markets to bet on and how i should carry out my bets? I know you can trade on the game but i don't use Betfair.
Can i trade with a high street bookmaker (Coral, William Hill), or can i only do it on Betfair?
Also, does anyone follow domestic cricket, i see some goods odds going around and my team Surrey are looking like they could challenge for a couple of competitions.
Any help would be appreciated.

hi wasim...firstly would strongly recommend having a look at fairfranco's excellent thread in betting chat which explains the basics of trading.

would strongly recommend you start off with a Betfair play for fun account. don't place real money trades until you've made a consistent profit with the fun account.

top run scorers...usually quite hit and miss unless you have a rigid taking plan. there is value in this market but very hard to find, your batsman could get a jaffer first ball, run himself out etc. series run-scorers are more reliable and can often still find value. during the 20/20 world cup last year, we did find some great prices on some players - 12/1 on misbah-ul-haq to top-score in one of the later matches sticks in my mind as some of the best value i've ever seen. Very Happy

start off slowly and don't look to become a millionaire in your first week, and you'll be fine Smile
