It looks like we may have some betting opportunities in the US President market. Last time out it was a close call with the country split between Democratic and Republican fairly evenly.
So as we know one slip up could sway the vote, with this in mind i think the Republicans will win again and the value is surely with them. 7/4 for the Republicans with Paddy Power.
The top 2 republicans in the betting to be president are
Mcain 13/2 with Paddy Power, Giuliani 7/1 with VC Bet.
If there are any americans on here who can keep us up to date on the mood of the nation it may help our betting. |

Nors,
on Thursday in Iowa twice as many democrats turned out as republicans, after the last 7 years americans seem to be wanting change (hence the obama win on thursday) and after the meltdowns the republicans had in the mid terms just over a year ago i would not be putting any of my hard earned on a republican returning to the white house. Finaly there is one big difference to this years election, it's the 1st time in nearly 80 years that a sitting president or vice president is not running, hence the more open race on either side, but the picture might be clearer by Tuesday as New Hampshire voters are often a good pointer to the final result.
Good Luck if you decide to play, i'll be an interested bystander .
Cheers

We have michigan next and it looks like a republican two horse race between mcain ( now 9/2 best priced to be president) and mitt romney.
Michigan is the home state of romney and he will probably just about get home but it looks like mcain will do well in Michigan. So the 9/2 with Paddy Power will go, and he will be clear republican fav to be president and it will be a top price 11/4. |

| Mcain now around the 4/1 after being mentioned at the 13/2 mark, Still a bit of value i reckon, are americans going to give either hilary or barack a massive majority- i dont think so. |

| Mcain now 9/4 to be president so looking good. romney drifted to 14/1 so might be worth having a smaller bet on him now as all the democratic fire power when not attacking each other will be aimed at Mcain. and romney will probably shorten to around 7/1. |

Has Giullianni(sp) officially pulled out of the race yet? I know he was way behind coming in 4th in the most recent round of polling. I'm a little concerned about the lack of "front line experience" of all the other candidates (something which is moot given the fact I'm not American ) This race is appearing to be about personality more than anything & I do think it's a worrying sign. Then again, basing your whole strategy around the tragedy of 9/11 was fairly suspect too..... _________________ How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?

Not offically spider but it will be soon, he is going to back McCain. Edwards is a goner on the other side could help clinton (god hope not) as they were splitting the white vote, although if he endorses Obama that's a different thing.
With less than a week to go to Super Tuesday there will soon be 2 clear frontrunners.
cheers

Well Nors your halfway there now, Mc cain guaranteed rep nomination, b e interesting now who he gets. Although she is Fav it may be better for Mc Cain to get Clinton, as she is hated so much by the republicans it might get all their voters out, getting interesting..........
Good Luck

In these times where bookmakers are chasing all of us for our pounds and euros we have greater opportunities to play them at their own game especially in the changing specials markets.
The bookmakers are offering us unrivalled specials and concessions which we need to take advantage of. They have offered great prices on the big brother politician winner John and the scottish singer who beat Rhydian.
With the current market on who will be President we should all be in profit, The only candidate we have not really bothered with is Hilary Clinton. She is now 6/1 with Bet 365. If we are sitting preety with all the others a small wager at 6/1 shouldnt cut the profits much. McCain is 7/4 and looks nailed on to be fighting the democrats
I dont think she we will win, but in this day and age us punters are mini versions of the bookmakers and like them it dosent really matter who wins in these special and ante post markets. The commander in chief sitting in the oval office could be Shrek for all we care (from a betting point of view) and we all need to remember that whenever we place a bet. As long as we are green (like shrek) thats all we need to be.
In many cases we can back all the serious contenders in an event with different bookies and win whatever. With American Idol and the Eurovision Song Contest offering further betting opportuities this should be a good year in the specials market.
By the time Wogan and Seacrest are reaching a climax and waiting for the final telephone votes from Talin and Tupelo we can be opening the champagne or putting the kettle on secure in the knowledge that we have won money or at the very least not lost anything. |

There has been some paper talk about the acrimonious fight between Obama and Clinton. The effect of the vitriolic campaigns of both democratic candidates is seen as very damaging to the democrats ambition to be the winning party.
Hilary Clinton is coming under pressure to withdraw and leave the field open to Barack Obama. She may feel that a graceful exit may hold her in good stead for a second tilt at being Commander in Chief in the future. She can then truly be called the comeback kid.
I feel she will step down and a Lay of clinton or backing the other two candidates may be advantageous. |
