In recent years it has been a formality for the winner of X-Factor to top the hit parade young Pop Pickers - but what odds it being Michael Jackson this year ???

| I reckon the furore over Jacko's death will have died down by then and he wasn't really known as a christmas song kind of guy so I don't think his fans will try to get him to be christmas number 1. If Cliff "Christmas Single" Richard dies I reckon he'd be a cert for the top of the christmas charts though. |

ROFLcopter. Really!? I'd call it more an insult using a nasty swear word rather than a libellous comment towards Simon Cowell.
Oh dear, Antony. Are you a Simon Cowell fan?
This is an absolute joke to bet on. It is going to be The X Factor winner, with some bland inoffensive act like Ronan Keating releasing yet another pointless and joyless cover version getting to number two again. |

Today's Bettingzone Market News:
1240: Bookies William Hill have been inundated with requests from Boyzone fans for the group to beat the X Factor to the Xmas number one.
Hills are offering 10/1 that they will do so. The X Factor winner is currently the 1/5 favourite with Michael Jackson second favourite at 8/1.
"Boyzone have a huge fan base and should they decide to mobilise their forces as a tribute to Stephen, it is possible that the X Factor could be dethroned," said Hill's spokesman Rupert Adams.

Cynical manoeuvre! If it isn't Michael Jackson, it's Stephen Gately. |

I'm surprised the people asking William Hill for odds on Boyzone aren't asking Paddy Power as well. Que?
Odds from Paddy Power on who'll get this year's Christmas number one single without the winner of this year's The X Factor:

Anyone think that Lady Gaga at 18/1 for No1 without XFactor winner (PPower, above) is a good shot?
She releases a previously unavailable single, "Bad Romance" at the end of November, I think it's catchy and she has been the undisputed singles chart star of 2009. There have been some recent examples of November Number 1's still hanging around at the high end of the chart come Xmas (Leona Lewis' Run and Take That's Patience).
Don't think Boyzone have any chance- there's only been a small sales spike for "No Matter What" in the last week. As far as I've read the new Michael Jackson material is only available on the new album, and they won't be made available as singles chart-eligible individual downloads. |

Unfortunately Simon Cowell has created an elite section of the market that hardly anyone will be able to penetrate. Two weeks ago for example, Robbie Williams performed on X Factor and subsequently shifted around 90,000 copies of his single, usually this would be enough for a number one sport except Alexandra Burke performed afterwards. I understand that yes, people buy the sing as they like it, but it's about the exposure.
I would be pretty shocked if Cheryl Cole didn't claim the spot this Sunday.
There are a fair few Christmas songs written each year, the problem is that even if they are any good, they're generally produced by smaller artists who have no real exposure, the last 'big' Christmas song I heard was by The Darkness, and loved it, because it rocked and for the pure tongue-in-cheek direction it was written in.
I'm going to plug this Christmas track rather shamelessly now as 1, it's a 'proper' Christmas song, much like The Darkness' effort and 2, because it's by the unsigned band that I'm in. Hope you like it, and if so, spread the word, or share a link to the video.

What price John and Edward Xmas no 1. I can honestly see it happening. Some old Xmas song like Sir Cliffs Mistletoe and Wine danced up with a bit of rap in the middle of it. It would be great to see Simon Cowell's face if it beat his winner into second place. |

John and Edward will have somehting in their contract stating they cannot release a single that would clash with the X Factor X Mas single, I'm sure thats happened before.
And whose to say they won't be X Mas number One when they win the X Factor anyway..! |
