Giants will be fine (flu will not cause any of them not to be fit)
i think best bet is the 5/1 offered on Patriots winning by 1-6
Maroney for MVP is the next best bet in my opinion, some people are bigging up Kevin Faulk for MVP but i think Maroney will see more playing time. |

I have gone for the sensible Giants +14 bet
The Patriots have been brilliant all season but the Giants are the really hot team in the NFL. I think they have won the last 8 and beat a much stronger teams than the Patriots did to get where they are. The Patriots were made to work by Jacksonville and an under strength San Diego and looked vulnreable at times, so with Eli Manning playing well at the moment and the Giants defense have had a good season anway I think their experience of beating Tampa Bay, Dallas and Green Bay to get here will stand them in good stead and they will give the Patriots a very good game. |

Yes I looked at Faulk for MVP - theyve used him a lot recently as a quick pass option when blitzed.
On the one hand the Giants like to pressure the QB and know the have to get to Brady to have a chance so its likley the Patriots will use a quick pass play a fair bit
On the other hand the Giants will be expecting the Faulk play so Id expect Belichick to have come up with some other options so maybe they wont use him so much.
I asked Bet365 for a price on Ellis Hobbs who wasnt in their list but theyve only offered 66/1. He intercepted Manning in the regular season game and of course hes a kick returner too. Its hard for non offensive players to get the MVP though so hed have to do something pretty special

It's the Pats - 11.5 for me.
On top of reasons already given, there is also the following:
Pats have experience from recent superbowls and giants have not.
The impetus of going unbeaten all season.
The superbowl being in Arizona favours Brady's passing game. |

After much consideration, I voted the unders. Pompous explanation follows.
If this were my money, I couldn't comfortably place it on any outcome which involved the Pats making a mistake in a Superbowl.
They'll concede scores when (the coaching staff feel) it's not dangerous. They'll fluff plays when (the coaching staff feel) they can get away with it.
The coaching staff will not make a mistake. When it really matters, they'll call plays which they know the players will execute. And the coaching staff will know when it really matters, which I don't.
Anything's possible, but one things for certain. If the Pats' coaching staff feel they're far enough ahead early on, the game will be killed. Advantage the unders. |

im going with pats to win by 1-6, its got some good arguments for and i feel this will be closer than some think, 5's is a point to big imo.
lets hope we can get one bet in and push us into profit for the thing, that would be a great result.
heading off for the weekend myself, getting back just in time to see who we have gone with and cheer on our bets as a complete neutral will allow me to do.
lets get some goodens and end this in style |

Looks a good range of bets..
Giants +14 looks so strong
(Remember they are on a 10-1 road run too, pats are the pats..but two td's..its a big ask of any team to roll them over like that)
Unders (gone through enough)
Pats win by 1-6 pts
Seems the most likely outcome if
1) nyg score first
2) pats score first and get a big lead... slow it down, nyg comes back but dont cause enough damage
3) it could come down to the last drive of the game, which the pats will dominate and take the win... who knows, its gonna be a cracking game and whatever... olbg have done some sound charity choices..

| superbowl in general provides fairly low scoring matches this being so i have voted for under 54 points on that premise hopefully in favour of the patriots. |

A couple of things on the voting
1. Weve raised 936 from 800 staked already. This final 200 we are staking this week I think we should be a bit more adventurous on. Even if both dets lose then we still have 936. So my inclination is to pick at least one bet at >2/1 odds
2. Im not going to pick bets that go against each other even if there is a possibility they both could win. So Pats-11.5 and Giants+14 - Id only pick one of them.
3. If there are a mixture of higher odds popular bets then I might do 2x£50 or 4x£25
Hope thats OK with everyone - keep voting - anything with 2 votes is looking like it will get some sort of consideration. |

How about Welker at a tasty 17/2 with Bet365.
If, as seems likely, the giants double team Moss, he is the next logical choice for a Brady pass.
Worth one of your higher odds bets, I think.
I also find it interesting that Bet365 offer the best odds for the vast majority of first touchdown bets (even over Betfair)

Like the idea of having a few higher prices now, we've hit a good profit for charity..so yeah..whatever u decide m8
Viewable ones:-
Time of First Score
Before and including 7 mins 00 secs 1.57
Randy Moss (NE Patriots) 6.00
To score the first TD
(I like this after hearing Moss saying, he's a team player and accepts just getting 1 catch in the previous games, but expects a lot more in the SB... whichc could work both ways but his tone hmm i wouldnt be surprised if they do try and get to him early)
Total Offensive Yards
Over 715.5 1.80

Didn't want to start a whole new thread but this is my bet for tonight.
New England Patriots have been nothing but brilliant this season and go into Superbowl XLII with an unbeaten record of 18-0, on the final week of the season they beat todays opponents New York Giants 38-35 in a close game and i feel today they can again beat them, i feel the match odds are too short with the Patriots 2/9 to win including OT so im looking at a Winning Margin bet. Over the 16 games during the season they average a winning margin of 19.6 points whilst in the the two championship games it was reduced to just 10 points per game, overall during all 18 games the average was 18.6 points per games, did they start to tire up during the end of the season after all there hard work because in their last three games they average just a 7.6 points per game winning margin. Looking at the Superbowl history if you look at the last 10 games the average winning margin is 11.5.
So i have made my mind up which be to go with and it is New England Patriots to win by 7-12 points @ 7/2. |
