Wow what a great game

Our "Pats 1-6" bet was looking good for quite a while but that amazing scramble and downfield throw by Manning and catch by Tyree really did it for them. That was a serious lucky play but they really deserved it.

They were all over the Patriots for the whole game really but a couple of bad plays looked like it was going to cost them dearly in the 1st Half and had the Patriots been able to score 1st in the second half to go 14-3 then I think it would have been over. But they could barely move the ball at all.

Thats what I love about sport, when thinking about the game we all were thinking about whether the Giants would be able to get to Brady. Was the answer
a) no
b) occasionally
c) quite a bit
d) all the time

I didnt in expect the answer to be d) but thats how it played out. I havent looked at the stats but it seemed like the Giants got to Brady more times in that 1 game than all the previous 18 games combined!

Was this was an issue with the NE O line or Brady's mobility or where the Giants D just that good like how the Patriots D amazingly stopped the Rams offence when Beady won his 1st Superbowl and everyone was raving out Bellichick and this great Defensive mastermind.

I think its probably a bit of both. Steve Spagnuolo the Giants Offensive coordinator certainly looks like a real talent and they'll do well to hold on to him next season.

One final thought for next year - is it really worth ever betting on a non offensive player for MVP? Manning did OK but he wasnt the reason they won. Yet to single out one player on their D was just too hard really. With QBs normally cleaning up on this award it may be worth considering backing a teams QB rather than backing the team itself to win as the odds are normally much higher but the risk is fairly low.

It's an interesting idea to back the QB for MVP rather than the team outright. Wikipedia shows 22 QBs won the MVP, 7 RBs, 5 WRs, so presumably just 8 others.

I think Manning deserved the award though. Before the Giants game-winning drive, 21 players know they might have to produce in order to settle the game their way, but the QB knows that he will have to produce. To cope with that pressure and succeed, after a solid performance to that point, makes him my MVP.

I agree with that.

I will have to invest in Sky Sports Setember - February next season though to follow it more closely and make more cash.
