Well hello everyone it's nearly that time of year again! What a season it was last year as being a Giants fan it was heaven and I think hard to top but the NFL is going from strength to strength. Have you all been keeping up to date wih total access? It's great viewing. Favre to the Jets will be interesting as I think they have a very decent offensive line that might give Favre a bit of throwing time. Madden 09' is out next Friday in Ireland anyway; it will have favre with the Packers jersey on it. I think they tried and failed to get rid of the Madden curse by giving it to a retiring player but how that has changed.
My team for this year is the San Diego Chargers I am strong on them. I think this is their year to peak if they are to win it with the current squad this is it. If Rivers has grown up a bit over the Summer and he settles down he can be a really good football player so here's to hoping. Also, they are going to Wembley in October and if they win I wonder if they're odds will be cut and what happened last year haha! They are currently 8/1 for the Superbowl and 9/2 for the conference generally. I managed to get them at 10/1 for the superbowl and 6/1 for their conference. I was also looking at Minnesota but decided to wait a bit and I saw their cut from 40/1 to 20/1 for the Superbowl and from 12's to 9's for their conference.
Let me know all of your views for the coming season |

well...as an Eagles fan I think I can say that we will do even worse than last year . The hype coming out of Philly re McNabb is just way over the top . I think this is the year he busts....and Kolb isn't ready . The WR corp looks awful and Westbrook cant keep carrying the team for ever.
I fancy Tony Romo to do well this year , so my tip is the CowGirls.... _________________ C'mon you Irons...... |

Good topic starter... I do think Favre will ease the Jets suffering some what. He had a decent opener against the redskins, however as the 2nd string come in, the rookies.. the jets were shown up again to be lacking that through-the-team quality.
Yes he's an improvement for the jets
yes they may well hit 8-8 or 7-9
the guy is a legend and he's been traded somewhere he'll do very little damage too Green Bay..smart move
ooh yeah..we need the Football season now!! _________________ OLBG Member: 189

I cant see the Jets winning more than 8 games this year. They cant beat NE, Buffalo will be tough this year and The only hope they have is beating Miami In the East. They got rid of Vilma and I think although Farve will definately improve the Offense. Having taken a closer looks at the schedule they could struggle to win 6 games unless they spring a few suprises. A very tough schedule where they will meet some teams on the Up and just generally very good teams. 6-10 or 7-9 bein Quite Optimistic.
I fancy the Chargers and although I am a Tampa fan I fancy the Saints to make it from the NFC with the Bucs as a Darkhorse. The Saints Offense will be even better this year with more WR's coming through the ranks and their D has improved too.My AFC dark horse would be Cleveland. Good passing game. Good enough running game to control the clock. Defense an unknown quantity as of yet but not long to go!!
Wembley Superbowl rehersal methinks! |
