Only one bet that catches my eye tonight guys.

Nuggets @ Rockets

Over the next few weeks, you'll get some cracking prices about the Rockets. The bookies, along with all the so called analysts and I think all NBA fans think that the Rockets are done and dusted with the injury of Yao Ming. However, I don't think that's the case.

Under Rick Adelman this year, the Rockets have become a team built on motion offense and balanced scoring. They are currently on a 14 game winning streak on the back of good team play and I believe have one of the deepest benches in the league. A problem position in recent times has been that of point guard but they now have Bobby Jackson as the veteran experienced backup they need at that position.

I don't think that they lose a lot on defense without Yao Ming. For all the size that he provides in the paint, he takes away with his inability to defend the pick and roll. If anything, they may now become a better defensive team with big Dikembe Mutombo coming in to dominate the paint and block shots. He's been a revelation once again in the last two games. When Mutombo isn't in the game (he's only capable of 25 minutes a game these days), the Rockets will counter the lack of size by going small as often as possible. Luis Scola and Carl Landry are more than capable of picking up the scoring burden. Landry is a hustle machine who dunks at every opportunity and in Scola they have an Argentinian who was MVP in the FIBA tournament who seems to grow with every game.

When the Rockets run the fast break, these days they look like the Phoenix Suns. Rick Adelman likes to run a quick motion offense and he had to adapt his plan with the rockets mainly because of Yao. Don't get me wrong because I'm not saying the Rockets are better without Yao as such. I think in the playoffs and maybe at the end of the season when the pressure grows, they would be desperate for someone to post up for easy points, but at this stage I don't think Yao's injury will hold them back and against an offensively minded team such as the Nuggets, their stifling defense and ball motion on offense will be enough to keep the streak going.
