There are a few people who tip on basketball on here so hopefully we'll get a bit of life in this part of the forum this season. Smile

Gonna stick to not backing big negative spreads this year (ie. -12, -12.5 etc.) as a lot of times last season teams were well up in the 4th quarter but rested players and threw away big leads so this season it's just money line or small spreads.

Fancy three tonight so let's crack on...

OVER 199.0 - Warriors vs Grizzlies
Every game between these two sides last season and the season before that (8 in total) has finished over this mark and I expect nothing to change this evening. That's 8 games in a row between these two that have finished over this mark with the average number of points scored per game in that period actually standing at a huge 231.6 which is pretty taking. Think the bookies have been too generous here and I expect them to be all shook up after a points-fest in Memphis.

MAVERICKS (-3.5) to beat Cavaliers
Cleveland will, yet again, look to rely heavily on star man LeBron James this season but when he doesn't fire (which although rare, does happen) they don't seem to have much of a plan B. James hasn't started the season that well by his standards averaging 19.7 points a game compared to the 30.0 he had for the whole of last season. New point guard Mo Williams hasn't been that influential in that department either so far and as a result the Cavs are averaging just 91.0 per game so far. The Mavericks meanwhile played well in defeat against Houston in their opener before putting in a fine performance in Minnesota on Saturday with Dirk Nowitzki, Josh Howard and Jason Terry once again spearheading their offence. That trio will be very dangerous this season and if they can keep their turnovers down consistently then they could have a very good season in my opinion. Their bench is pretty strong aswell and with home advantage here I think they can prove too strong for the Cavs as long as James doesn't have a complete stormer.

JAZZ (-6.5) to beat Clippers
The 6.5 spread is about as high as I'm willing to go this year but I think the Jazz should be well capable of covering it tonight. These two sides met a few days ago in Utah with the Jazz running out 101-79 winners. Utah were without Deron Williams again for that game while the Clippers were missing new signing Baron Davis aswell. It was LA who looked as though they needed their star more though and they really struggled in that game. Both players are expected to miss this evening's encounter again and although the Clippers have home advantage this time they are also set to be without Marcus Camby again and given that they have really struggled offensively so far this season I think the Jazz are good enough to win comfortably here.

best of luck,

Deco.
