TAMPA BAY RAYS @ Baltimore Game1
Tampa Bay are running smoothly and Shields has been pretty good for them recently so the Rays should win this one handily.
Atlanta @ PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES
Pretty much everything is going right for the Phillies at the moment and with the economical Hamels on the mound with a home crowd this should be clear decision, I'm backing them to make the run line on this one.
San Diego @ LA DODGERS
On Paper this looks like it should be a pretty easy one for the Dodgers and Billingsley has been good for me all season so I'm backing them to make the run line.
WHITE SOX @ Minnesota
I was surprised to see the Twins as a $1.75 favourite for this game, too much respect for home field advantage? I think most people would agree the Sox have the stronger hitting lineup, so lets look at the pithers. Scotty Baker's W-L and ERA stats look good, but he hasn't been in great form recently. He's only gotten 3 results (2-1) in his last 10starts and he's been giving up more runs than usual. Javier Vazquez' numbers don't look as good, but his recent losses are to class teams like the Yankees, Boston & Tampa Bay, so against a slightly weaker hitting lineup like the Twins I think he can do ok. At $2.10 or better I take the Sox. |

I agree with two of those picks. Rays are a good bet at arund the 1.6 mark at Baltimore and Dodgers are a no brainer at 1.4ish.
The Phillies are terrible value at 1.36 - they SHOULD win but its too much of a risk at that price. I've gone Braves +1.5.
I like the Twins for the match against the Sox, Baker has been far more consistent than Vazquez and the Sox are missing big hitting Carlos Quentin.
The bet of the night is Yankees at 1.88 for me. Mike Mussina has had a terrific season and the Yankees have found some very good form at this stage of the season - if only they'd started this about two months ago.
Jesse Litsch is a fine young pitcher but may find himself a little overawed tonight and under-supported. |
