Well anyone who was paying attention to the schedule could have figured out that San Jose Sharks are good for at least 2 wins out of 3 consecutive matchups against the Pheonix Coyotes this past week. The Sharks swept the Coyotes (4-1, 5-0, 6-0) and seem to have found their form, so confident they dumped backup goalie I Bryzgalov by putting him on waivers yesterday.

The Latest from Anaheim
Defenseman Mathieu Schneider didn't skate after sitting out Thursday's game because of a sore hip and is questionable for Saturday's game. - Los Angeles Times

The Latest from Atlanta
Apparently satisfied with what he's seeing from his current staff, Don Waddell made the recommendation to ownership to put the coaching search on pause for now. He's keeping the job within the organziation at least through the end of the season and if they continue playing like they have, that would bode well for Brad McCrimmon since Don has made it clear that he doesn't want to be an NHL coach forever. - Atlanta Journal Constitution

The Latest from Boston
Tim Thomas will start for the Bruins on Saturday. - Boston Globe

Bruins general manager Peter Chiarelli, who last week placed center Patrice Bergeron on the long-term injured reserve list, told an all-sports radio station in Toronto the 22-year-old pivot could be finished for the season. "He is suffering from a serious concussion, and he could be out for the whole year." - Boston Globe

Rookie goalie Tuukka Rask worked half the practice in place of Manny Fernandez, who remains inactive due to a strained left knee. Julien said the Bruins are taking their time with Fernandez, but he would make the trip to Montreal. - Boston Herald

The Latest from Carolina
Erik Cole (neck) will be out seven to 10 days while the swelling in his neck subsides, Hurricanes general manager Jim Rutherford said Thursday. The Canes should get Andrew Ladd (ankle) back. Niclas Wallin (shoulder/groin) is day-to-day. Bret Hedican (cheek) and Craig Adams (forehead) practiced Thursday. - News Observer

The Latest from Chicago
Winger Martin Havlat will undergo a strength test on his injured right shoulder Monday. If he has regained enough strength, Savard expects him to play next week. - Chicago Tribune

Kevyn Adams will have surgery on his torn ACL and torn MCL on Monday.
The Blackhawks lost their most consistent defenseman Thursday. Brent Sopel was sent back to Chicago to recover from the flu. His return to the team is uncertain. - Chicago Sun Times

The Latest from Dallas
Grossman had the best of both worlds at training camp this season. Not only was he vying for a spot on the team, but he was working with his idol, fellow Swedish defenseman Mattias Norstrom will be out for at least two weeks after having surgery Thursday for orbital damage around his left eye. Coach Dave Tippett said he wasn't sure whether the Stars would call up another defenseman in the meantime. Either way, it paves the way for Nicklas Grossman, a young Swede who happens to play like a young Norstrom. - Star-Telegram

The Latest from Florida
Coach and general manager Jacques Martin said the Panthers aren't going to turn things around by trading players and making wholesale changes. He said he believes in his team, but they need to start playing as a team before they dig themselves in too deep. - Miami Herald

The Latest from Los Angeles
Raitis Ivanans to return to practice Sunday. Ivanans has missed the past four games with a fractured cheekbone. - LA Daily News

Kings Coach Marc Crawford said forward Kyle Calder, whose broken left thumb was re-evaluated Thursday, has not been cleared for contact and would not accompany the team on its two-game trip to Dallas and Phoenix next week. - LA Times

The Latest from Minnesota
Mark Parrish missed the final two periods with a strained back on Friday vs the Canucks, while Mikko Koivu, undoubtedly the Wild's best player the first six weeks, sustained a possibly serious left knee injury when he was viciously slashed late in the third period by Canucks defenseman Mattias Ohlund. - Star Tribune

The Latest from Nashville
The likely return of Shea Weber to the lineup Saturday will mean a change in defensive pairings. Weber was teamed with Dan Hamhuis in the season opener, but there's no guarantee that duo will be back together Saturday. - Tennessean

The Latest from New York Rangers
LW Martin Straka (broken index finger) and RW Ryan Callahan (sprained MCL) skated again yesterday morning but both remain at least a week to 10 days from returning to the lineup. - New York Daily News

The Latest from Phoenix
The club picked up Ilya Bryzgalov off waivers on Saturday, and he has been indicated for the start against LA. - TSN.ca

The Latest from Pittsburgh
Evgeni Malkin (back) and Brooks Orpik (groin) did not practice at Mellon Arena on Friday. Both players are expected to play against the New York Rangers Saturday. - Tribune-Review

The Latest from St. Louis
The club announced during Friday night's game that rookie forward David Perron will be in the lineup Saturday at Nashville. It will be Perron's 10th game in the NHL, which means he will be staying with the Blues. - Post Dispatch
