henry deserves all the kicks and more next season. i would love to see all the cheats get their comeuppance. i cannot understand why fifa dont come back to the people who are trying to get other players sent off and ban them from playing next couple of games. that would soon stamp it out.

i would think that henry will regret his actions later tonight. I guess he thought that the spanish would do the same thing if it happened to them, tho that's a poor excuse. when the stakes are high, morality takes a back seat nowadays. I reckon any english player would now do the same against certain teams like argentina and certainly against portugal as well. Just don't be too surprised in the portugal game if an english player dives.

I thought that spain started off badly even tho they got the pen. They were playing the wrong formation... 4-3-3 vs France 4-5-1? the team had to carry Raul throughout the 1st half.. it was more like 10 v 11. But credit to their coach, he realised it was wrong and changed it around in the 2nd half. I think the manner of the defeat was very harsh on them, but the french were the better team on the whole tonight. Their tactics were spot on.

It is, dammo, but i strongly suspect that the portuguese will do the same to england. what should we do then? play fair and lose due to time wasting tactics (e.g. from the goalie Ricardo?)? Ricardo will go down during the match if portugal are in front, and they have to stop the match cos the goalie cannot be taken off the pitch. I'm not being baised, but i'm stating this from his track record. He has done it for his club, sporting, and he did it for portugal against holland too.

it all needs to be clamped down on from the top. blatter has a lot to answer for, hes the one who has told the referees to be ridiculously OTT, blighting many a match and ruining several teams chances.

the problem of overacting would disappear overnight if they doled out tough sentences for any form of cheating. i cant think of many other sports whose governing body would not act if they saw a player cheating so blatantly.

that said i dont suppose u can criticise the players so much when the referees seem to be after oscars much of the time.

i completely agree, dammo... i guess henry can still face disciplinary action from fifa as he wasn't yellow carded in this instance...

all this "ref has seen the incident" malarky will not do... they should have a video panel after the match to give out cards retrospectively if the incident calls for it... incl. upgrading yellows to red, which they can't do right now.

Henry did over react in the manner that any Arsenal player would have done but over reaction or not it was a free kick and the goal was legit so people desperastely clutching at straws should give it up and just admit they got it wrong.

pfft even Rugby and Cricket even have video referees at this stage.

Looks like FIFA are holding out on introducing such a concept until the Darts and Snooker crew do the same Wink

Next player to take a dive should be made to play the rest of the match in a pair of Speedos Very Happy

Spain may not have been inspirational .... but when are the Referees and Linesmen erm I mean assistant referees actually going to sit down and think "erm Jaysus I must look like a complete halfwit after being fooled by that malarkay ..... better make sure the rest of the crew know not to be fooled"

When you see the knocks that players in sports like Ice Hockey and even Rugby Union take the melodramatic agonising reaction to a clip on the shin (especially when shin protectors are worn) is quite simply pathetic.

Some of these primadonnas are only short of wheeling their Mom out with the Magic Sponge when they take a dive.
