well for some reason every one has skipped today's games and zoomed on to saturday.
Germany v Argentina
the odds on these 2 teams are as close as they could possibly be. on many bookies site they are deal level with the draw at about 2/1. while on Betfair Germany are fairly strong favourites leaving Argentina at 3.25.
this game is in my opinion too close to call and not worth putting a penny on, certainly not on who will win. though if you feel strongly about one team or the other the odds are certainly good.
Buridsso (Argentina)is the only real injury worry of the two teams and while there is something about Ballack and Klose getting other minor injuries i'm sure it is nothing more than a bit of cheeky exageration from the German's and they will both be fit and definately play.
they two teams played each other twice last year, both of which resulted in 2-2 draws and i see it being a similar encounter in this game. Argentina are more than capable of breaking Germany's defence while the German's attack looks very good and I see them scoring as well. who puts in the winning goal is anyones guess.
Will the home advantage make a difference, i'm sure it will but the Argentinan crowd are a noisy and passionate bunch and won't let themselves be outdone by the german supporters.
my only bet on this game was with a free £5 bet i got on Bet365 i've gone with over 2.5 goals @ 2.2
good odds I think. |

i fancy for interest in the game :
Podolski First Goal & Germany 2-0
my head is telling me Klose because he is a natural born killer, sorry goalscorer but my heart is telling me podolski after he helped me with my 2-0 scorecast last weekend
66/1 with Betfred
enjoy guys |

Italy v Ukraine
I’m sorry but I really can’t enthuse about this game.
I find Italy’s football a bit boring and I must admit I say this without having watched many of their games this world cup. The bits I saw did enough for me to say that they are the usual 1-0 winning side they always are!
It works well for them though and based on what I saw of the Ukraine’s against the Swiss they try seem to try to play a similar game. Sounds thrilling!!!
The main downpoint for Italy in this game is Nesta (Injury) and Materazzi (suspended) being out suspended for today’s game. With such an organised defence these missing players could make a major difference to the side.
I’m predicting a 1-0 or 2-0 win for Italy in normal time. |

Heres my bet for every QF, copied from the thread about tomorrows games.
On BF you can dutch both teams to win on penalties in every QF @ approx 6.00. Just checked and at least one QF game has ended on penalties in each of the last 5 world cups(in 86 three of the 4 QFs did ).
Seems like a solid bet to me |

Going large on Argentina today.
£100 @ 2.15 AH 0
£100 @ 5.8 AH -1
Think that the Argies are way ovepriced today, thought they would be 2.3 or something and find these two prices too hard to resist. Also going to be getting on over 4.5 goals as reckon could be a 2-4 er!
Also:
£100 @ 5 Over 3.5 Goals
Both teams love to attack and Germany still can't defend IMHO!

think the bet, that could be most appealing is the one The Shark and myself have pointed out in mythical matches thread, Argentina to beat the italians @ 5/2, if they both win there games, we will see the true price as they will face each other next
The 5/2 means that Argentina have to score more goals in the 1/4 final against Germany, than the italians do against the Ukraine _________________ Challenge Winners for Season

a bet for later tonight, just went for the goalscorer in the italian game on the tipsters, he is well capable and it could be one of them boring numbers like sweden v T&T or the Japan v Croatia match, however with this little stick of dynamite you will get a run for your cash, if he stays on the park long enough, a live wire indeed, but can score goals and has done, in his time with all the clubs he has been at, if he has his thinking head on tonight and not the kick anything that moves head he will be on for the 90mins and the extra time if needed, do you know who it is yet
GENNARO GATUSSO@21.0
well worth a couple of quid, he does get forward and he has scored a few raspers and has scored quite recently, not in the wc tho, in one of the matches running up to it, Ukraians will be marking the other big threats and the wee man could sneak one in _________________ Challenge Winners for Season

I have gone for Argies on AH+0 and Win in 90 Minutes.
Teves pairing alongside Crespo would be my first choice strikers against the Germans, so im made up thats what he has gone for. Maxi is doing a good job keeping Messi out of the side with his quality performances.
I just fancy the Argies to beat the Germans in this mout-watering tie!

I can't decide who i think will progress from the Germany -v- Argentina match, so i'll go on the corner betting.
I'll be on Over 10 corners @ Evens with SJ. The OLBG Stats suggest it'll be fairly close whether it's over or under, but i think over is slightly favoured.
Note: i've just changed from Unders to Overs with 5 mins til KO. I hope i don't regret that decision!

Germany v Argentina:-
The first and possibly the best of the quarter finals.
Two games ago, Argentina would have looked generously priced at anything odds against for this assignment. However, a glorified friendly against Holland seemed to rob both teams of their momentum, and they were slightly fortunate to come through a tough game against Mexico.
In that game, they were clearly unsettled by Mexico's bold start and also by the aerial presence of Borgetti. For the first time in the tournament, the defence looked a little suspect and Heinze looked like a man just coming back from injury (very lucky not to get sent off). However, I would not lightly oppose a team with the attacking strength of Argentina - any team that can bring on subs of the quality of Messi, Tevez and Aimar are clearly a formidable force.
It would be easy to crab Germany's performances given the opposition they have faced. However, their attacking play has been impressive throughout and their dominance of Sweden was unexpected. Their gameplan throughout the tournament has been to jump on opponents early and then boss the game. In addition, Klose may have noted how Argentina struggled at the back in the air, in the last game.
Defensively, Germany have improved from their first game (wisely ditching the offside trap) but still conceded a number of good chances to Sweden, including a penalty, even when that side were down to ten men. This may be where their defence faces the ultimate test.
This could end up being a cagey affair, but it seems unlikely, as both team's strength lies in their attacks. Interestingly, 5 out of the 8 games they have played so far have had a goal in the first ten minutes.
Going for:-
BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE @ 1.91 (Bet365)
FIRST GOAL TO BE IN THE FIRST 10 MINUTES @ 6.0 OR FIRST 20 MINUTES @ 5.5 (both Paddy Power) _________________ Confidence in tips ranges from the most confident which is 5 stars to least which is 1.
