|

We all do them rightly of wrongly so what's your 3 Golden Rules for doing them? I'd probably say:
1. Trebles, four-folds or five-folds max. No more.
2. Stick to Premier Leagues. They tend to be more reliable.
3. Avoid Cup games, friendlies etc. |

| I strongly agree with the third point. I tend to look through the lower leagues (especially scottish) when searching for safish games to include. Only a couple of seasons ago, East Stirling would be reliably 'stuffed' week in week out, be they home or away, and Gretna were flying. Every week these two would feature on my selections. There is often a lot of value in the conference sides to be had. I tend to do a silly 10 fold on the saturday for low stakes... I then do a low stake double or treble on the tuesday to hopefully win back the stake, etc. Seems to work for me. There are few feelings like a ten-fold coming in... My best being 190/1! |

3 golden rules, mmmm, let me see!
1. Small stakes
2. Scour the lists for value
3. Never add another selection just because it is 1/4 or 2/7.
I never bet on friendlies, but Scottish games are well worth looking at, so i agree with norfolkpaul on that. especially E Stirling ha ha! |

1. Don't do them
2. Don't even think of doing them
3. Invest in a well researched larger stake single instead. _________________ I did rather well in the February 2008 tables! |

Has anyone tried four-fold correct scores from 9 or 10 selections.
I think it'd pay out a grand for 50p per line, around £50-75 in total.
We do Premier-League predictions at work and one bloke got 4 correct scores last week.
Doesn't happen too often, but I reckon over the season he would have had a healthy profit.
I've each sheet for this season so I might work it out sometime. |

Just found the sheet from 10-11-12 November:
Derby 0-5 West Ham
Liverpool 2-0 Fulham
Sunderland 1-1 Newcastle
Brum 1-2 Villa
Bolton 0-0 Boro
Chelsea 1-1 Everton
Man U 2-0 Blackburn
Pompey 0-0 Man City
Spurs 4-0 Wigan
Reading 1-3 Arsenal
Jeezus those results do look incredibly predictable, but anyway, the winner got 19 points and 5 correct scores (a payout of around 7-10 grand)
second place got 13 points, but only 3 correct scores and I got 12 points but only 2 correct scores
ok so those results are rubbish apart from 1st place. |

Point 3 from Taylormade made me laugh.
I regularly do accas on a Saturday, and it seems that 7 or 8 times out of 10, one game lets me down, and it's often the one that I don't really look into, but add it onto my coupon to squeeze out a little bit more potential winnings, just because the price makes it look like team x must surely win.
My only real rule is that I never put West Ham anywhere on the coupon, after they got a point at Anfield years ago, when Liverpool were better than they are now, and West Ham were worse. Cost me about a grand, and it felt totally wrong feeling that bad about my team getting a point at Liverpool. |

1. Never back your "own" team. You don't need a double whammy of saturday night disappointment!
2. Don't be afraid to back rival teams, as a little chuckle at a local rivals misfortune can mask the disappointment of your acca going down.
3. Avoid heavy odds on selections, as these also prove a sickener when they go down.
4. Never back Hull. Just a personal one for me after they conceded a 93rd minute equaliser a few years back costing me a not so small fortune. Bluddy Tesfaye Bramble. I'll never forgive him....NEVER! (Or his brother!!) |

I would say:
1. Never bet against yourself
2. Don't take "boosters" that you have no researched
3. Don't include one selection in all of your combinations.
Point one really is there to exclude the idea of "savers". These can be a good idea when you reach the last (or near-to-last) leg of what looks like a good collect, but you certainly should not consider them at the outset. If you do take a saver, the ideal situation is one where it complements your selections rather than contradicts them. This is not always possible, but should be attempted.
Point two concerns those situations where your accumulator price hovers at about 9.94 and you'd like to get it to $10. Do not go taking some favorite that you have not researched just so that you get the balance to over $10, because while most of the time it will work, it occasionally will go against you and there is nothing more disappointing than losing when you're right!
Point three means spreading your investments around so that if you are taking multiple combinations, you should have at least one ticket in each series that does not include one of the selections, or that combines the selections in different ways to ensure that one mistake doesn't cost you the lot. This is very different from taking savers, because none of your bets in this case are contradictory. |

| Pick your best 3. Write down why there your best 3. Research all teams involved using local newspaper and fan websites. Pick the one you really think has the best chance and this is your main bet. Put all 3 in very small stake Trixie. |

I would say
1.Always have your excuses ready and a hard luck story when one lets you down.
2.Always knock a tenner off the cost when telling the wife.
3.If they all do come in,dont tell the wife. _________________ M.C.F.C. BORN AND BRED |
