i am thinking of opening an account with one of the many online bookmakers - just for horse racing purposes. Forget all that free on line items when you open an account etc - just a small say £100.00 account for start (£2 min bet seems to be the norm/least). As you can appreciate people i'm looking for value at the end of the day (point here/point there - makes all the difference). And timing - right place/right time we all know the in's and out's. Where would you recommened - im currently looking at Betfair and Blue Square. Are there any pitfalls? Admin charges - any skeletons in the closet to be aware off. Have read all the rules etc - there all basically the same. I havent hundreds of pounds to open accounts willy nilly - where would the tried and tested olbg put there 1st hundred is the questions i'm asking. All help either pro's or con's would be very much appreciated.
thanks. |

If your looking for value as you say "point here, pointthere", you need to open several accounts, spread the £100 around and take as many offers as you can , also make sure you have Betfair covered and check the forums, and bingo your almost there,
Just the hard work now and finding winners _________________ [b]My Blogs

Stick your first £25 in Betfair, they are the only bookmaker/exchange which will refund you totally win or lose your entire first £25 worth of bets.
You can then take your initial deposit back out should you wish or continue using it if it suits you.
There won't be any better value oddswise anywhere else!
Of the conventional Bookmakers the sign up bonus Coral offer is good and my personal favourite is Blue Square who seem to more often than not have the best early bird prices. |

man o bong thanks for the quick responce and the info - appreciate your saying open say 4no accounts at £25.00 each, that way i'm covered. You have to have your own limitation and know when to walk away/cut your losses (thats the game - where all looking for winners) - if i open 4 accounts (i think could be dangerous for me/start of a slippery slope). If i could put all my eggs in one basket (at present) where do you think.....?
Betfair???? you know the house all wins - but now and again we make a few shackles... even looking at value bets all the bookes are there or there abouts 6/1 - 7/1 etc (they all sing of same hyme sheet). |

| For me SportingBet.com always seem to offer the best odds on pretty much all races first thing in the morning. On Racingpost.com if you select a race from the card section it will tell you which firm is currently offering the best odds. I'd say 7/10 times SportingBet is one of those companies. I always like to use Bet365 because they are best odds gauranteed. I lost count of the amount of times i took a price and then it drifted out by the time the race started. With Bet365 if you take say 7/4 at 10.00am and by the time the race starts the horse you bet on is now 9/4 you get the 9/4. Betfair is good but doesnt usually offer more value on fancied horses. For outsiders its great but there is usually always more value from SportingBet than Betfair on favourites. Like someone else said the best thing to do would be to open 4 accounts with £25 in each. But for someone just starting out I'd definitely recommened using Bet365. You can take an early price at any point during the day and if it starts to be clipped in it doesnt matter as you already have the price but if it drifts, even better coz you get SP.. Hope this helps.. Good luck pal |

If you open as others have said 4 accounts you will get 4 sign up offers.
Your eggs will not all be in one basket and you can cherry pick the best prices and facilitate the best sign up offer to suit your betting throughout 2008. |
