I might be missing something as I can't believe Hills can have made what appears to be a big error here.

Got the said coupon today and 3 markets got me interested.

1. To win tournament

4s Germany
11/2 Spain
7 Portugal
7 Italy
15/2 France
12 bar

2. Top scorer

9 Klose
9 Torres
10 Ronaldo
14 Toni
14 Villa
16 bar

3. Winner/top scorer doubles

18 Germany/Klose
20 Spain/torres
22 Portugal/Ronaldo
25 Italy/Toni
28 Spain/Villa

Now to me the Winner/top scorer combi bet looks like a rip off on the coupon. 18/1 for Germany/Klose???

Surely backing the double seperately would give you Germany @4/1 X Klose @9/1 giving total odds of 50/1. Wouldn't it?? Confused

Now seeing as that is the shortest combined odds backing seperately, it would be possible to make 49 bets on that market which would give a profit providing one of them came in.

Therefore, discounting a shock like Greece in '04, this to me looks like a remarkable value bet.

Anyone agree or have I got something wrong???

Just thought - I'm guessing D/H rules will apply in the event of tied top scorers. Discounting that though, looks good..and gives you 2 or more chances of winning!

Cheers!

Thought I spotted that goldmine myself a few years ago but they won't accept a double of that nature. ie. Similar to betting on a horse to win the 2:20 at Kempton and over 2.5 goals in a La Liga game etc. etc.

The winner/top scorer bet is essentially a "special" offered by the bookie - but you're right, the odds are poor for them and they offer no value. Lose

If you try to bet on the two as a double it will probably say "your multiple options are restricted on this coupon" - or something to that effect.

Cheers fellas, thought it might be too good to be true. Still thinking of asking the independant bookie nearby if he'll do it but I'm guessing once he sees my plan he'll fold if the big firms won't allow it Crying or Very sad.........

Related bets

Multiplied odds do not normally apply for the same selection to win more than one event and the only bets available at the current odds are usually singles. A combined price may be available which will apply to selected doubles, trebles, accumulators and so on. For example:
- Nashwan to win 2000 Guineas and The Derby
- Real Madrid to win La Liga and the Champions League
- Warwickshire to win all four English County Tournaments
- Tiger Woods to win all four Major golf titles Please check for the combined prices available.

If a bet made up of doubles, trebles etc. is accepted in error at the individual event prices, the bet will be settled at the combined price available at the time the bet was placed. If a combined price was not available, the stake will be divided equally as singles at the individual event prices available at the time the bet was placed.

If a combined price was taken for the same selection in two races/events and the selection does not take part in one of them, the bet will be settled as follows:
If the bet was placed before the ‘day of event’ for both races/events, our normal Ante Post rules apply. This means that if the selection does not take part in one of the races/events the bet will be settled as a loser. This applies even if the selection has been successful in the other race/event.
If the bet was placed on the ‘day of event’ for one of the races/events and the ‘day of event’ selection does not take part, this will be treated as a non-runner and the bet will become a single for the remaining Ante Post race/event. The bet will then be settled based on the price and place terms available at the time the bet was placed (normal Ante Post bets apply).

When prices on different selections in the same event are advertised, these cannot be combined in accumulative bets where the outcome is related. The only exception to this is where special prices are made available, e.g. a Scorecast on a football match. If such a bet is accepted in error, the bet will be settled by dividing the stake unit equally where the related outcomes clash.
