OK, some time off from placing bets or going into the casino parts of the sites. I do have to admit it was hard, I was certain I had a couple of iron clad winners at the weekend. I made a note of what my bets would've been though & fortunately I didn't lose money due to them being no good And so, time for the top up :
New Bank £5.00
And a small Patent to ease back into things :
Away Day Glory Patent
1 Scotland v Croatia : Croatia @ 2.30
2 Poland v USA : USA +0.25 AH @ 2.03
3 France v England : England +0.0 AH @ 2.25
Total Stake £0.70 Remaining Bank £4.30
I'm half tempted by Wes Brown AGS @ 21.00 after the weekend Other than that nothing really appeals or stands out as a good bet. It's arguable that England @ 3.1 is great but my head says the AH option is the safer bet - same with the USA. I think they have a good chance against Poland but again the AH provides decent coverage. With the withdrawal of so many Scottish players, 2.30 for Croatia is massive value. It was good before the withdrawals to be honest - and I'm not just saying that to be anti-Scottish, I'd love the Scots to thrash Croatia but I just can't see it.
Might do a couple of others once I've had a think. _________________ How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?

The Scots drew 1:1 with Croatia Not a bad result - pity England couldn't draw with them last year
Speaking of England, we lost 1:0 to France - not a bad result all things considered. However, the performance was diabolical. France weren't much better, but they didn't need to be.
Two losing selections....
Poland 0:3 USA I don't like looking back & saying "Why didn't I trust myself a bit more?" but this is a clear case of
New Bank £4.51
Week 13 Total Stake £0.70 Week 13 Strike Rate 1/7 Week 13 Total Returns £0.21
Why "week 13"? Well, ease of categorising results - it's the 13th week of the year... _________________ How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?

Trying to keep it simple again. 5 singles on the 1X2 & AH markets, odds against (but just!) & hoping for a slice of luck to be honest.
1 Bolton v Arsenal : Bolton +0.5 AH @ 2.12 Stake: 0.25 Single
2 Derby v Fulham : Draw @ 3.30 Stake: 0.50 Single
3 Reading v Blackburn : Blackburn @ 3.20 Stake: 0.50 Single
4 Birmingham v Man City : Birmingham @ 2.37 Stake: 0.50 Single
5 Portsmouth v Wigan : Wigan +0.5 AH @ 2.125 Stake: 0.25 Single
Remaining Bank £2.51
Week 13 Total Stake £2.70 Week 13 Strike Rate 1/7 Week 13 Total Returns £0.21
5 Open Bets
1) Bolton actually have a good home record against Arsenal. Add into the fact they're scrapping for anything they can get, Arsenal are struggling & it's set up nicely for this being a positive bet.
2) Was tempted by the Derby win here, Fulham dire away from home - odds for either +0.5 AH or Double chance both odds on, but it'd be mainly for the draw rather than either side actually winning being honest. Any of the three 1X2 results could happen here, Fulham could break their awful away form, Derby could get their second win of the season but I'm thinking that the draw is actually most likely.
3) They've just had a huge piece on Sky Sports News about Reading which throws a shade of doubt in my mind about this one. However, Blackburn have only lost 4 of the last 18 away - Reading might be in the relegation frame but Mark Hughes has promised to send out his team wanting to win every single match remaining in the season.
4) Birmingham need the win, Man City don't have too much to play for. Given recent performances I'm siding with Brum...
5) Pompey being given a huge shout in the OLBG v The Bookies thread & in the football forum. For a team with the amount of home draws that Pompey have, to get over evens for laying them is great value IMO. _________________ How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?

1) Bolton 2:3 Arsenal : Curse my cautious nature All I could hear on Soccer Saturday was how much Arsenal were hammering the Bolton goal, een when 2nil down & a man sent off. Even at 2 all, Arsenal drifted right out to 7.50 & I was so tempted to lump my last £2.51 on them at that point..... Didn't do that though and BOOM! Arsenal take the win
No worries though, would've been even more gutted if they hadn't managed to win the match so I'm not too concerned. In a way, it gives me hope over my discipline Return £0.00
2) Derby 2:2 Fulham : what can I say? A match that I think most right-minded people thought was a certainty for unders ended 2 all. Got the draw, but a tad disappointed that the In-Play betting options didn't include a Goal Line market - really wanted to take Overs while the match was at 1:1. Return £1.65
3) Reading 0:0 Blackburn : Not much to say about it right now. Sounded like a bit drab in the first half & but it was a brilliant performance from Hahneman that stopped Blackburn winning the game. Return £0.00
4) Birmingham 3:1 Man City : Sounded a brilliant match. I started to worry after Man City got the first of 2 penalties (1 each) and Brum had a player sent off. Nevertheless, Big Eck rallied his troops & came out with the win. Return £1.19
5) Portsmouth 2:0 Wigan : I went against most tipsters with this which might've been a mistake but it sounded like David James pulled off a fine performance - he saved a penalty! Pity he couldn't have saved a penalty on Wednesday It sounded like the difference between the sides was James & 2 goal hero Defoe. Return £0.00
Total Return £2.84
New Bank £5.35
Week 13 Total Stake £2.70 Week 13 Strike Rate 3/12 Week 13 Total Returns £3.05
0 Open Bets
Not a bad turnout all in all. The result in the Bolton match solidifies my "Bolton to be relegated" bet chances. Pompey's win adds a bit of tension to my bet on "Premiership Without Big 4 : Everton" but I'm not sure it makes me nervous about it - despite Everton's game in hand being against Liverpool tomorrow
Now to look at the Spanish matches tonight _________________ How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?

I've not been posting? D'oh!
Guess that's one in the eye for discipline Not been sports betting though - Top Trumps attacked me again as I was going after the bonus amount but playing it wrongly I think I'm over the game now, bonus amounts are just there to keep you playing instead of being an actual reward type thing. At first it looks quite odd having to wager £240 to be able to withdraw £10, but a chat with the Customer Service Advisor put me straight. Just a shame they wouldn't tell me how to work out what card I was up against
Why is Shane Sherriff AGS @ 5/1? Have I missed something? Was going to have a little nibble on that but not at 5/1.... Funnily enough, I'm tempted by Andy Taylor @ 12/1 though & not just because of the price.
Something very wrong with the forums tonight, damn spammers - can't they stay away?
How many players are listed in the "Goalscorer" market for the Spurs v Boro game on Bet365? Surely there aren't going to be 43 players taking
part in that match
Ramble over for the minute. Will post up my bets once I've decided exactly what it is that I'm doing.... _________________ How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?

Not sure if this should be followed by a huge amount of people due to the fact that I'm a Tranmere fan :
Tranmere to score 2 or 3 goals & win the match @ (approx) 2.9 Stake £1.00 : I've done this by dutching the following -
1 Tranmere 2-0 @ 10.00 Stake: 0.29 Single
2 Tranmere 2-1 @ 9.50 Stake: 0.31 Single
3 Tranmere 3-0 @ 21.00 Stake: 0.14 Single
4 Tranmere 3-1 @ 19.00 Stake: 0.15 Single
5 Tranmere 3-2 @ 29.00 Stake: 0.10 Single
I'm also taking the Score Draw @ 4.50 Stake £0.50 in that match as a slight amount of cover.
Prmeiership bets
1X2
1 West Ham @ 3.60 Stake: 1.00 Single
2 Everton @ 2.40 Stake: 1.00 Single
3 Reading @ 1.90 Stake: 1.00 Single
Goals
1 Spurs v Boro : Over 2.5 @ 1.75 Stake: 0.75 Single
2 Bolton v West Ham : Over 2.5 @ 2.20 Stake: 0.75 Single
3 Birmingham v Everton : Over 2.5 @ 2.25 Stake: 0.76 Single
Today's Total Stake : £6.75 Max. Possible Strike Rate : 7/8 _________________ How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?

Coming up to the last post in this blog The reason for the new blog will be to concentrate on a challenge a month & I've been spending a little time working out actual details of what I'm going to be setting myself in terms of rules, bet types etc and how I'll be able to tell whether or not I've been successful or not. The success will not necessarily involve meeting any targets although the aim of the challenges will primarily be to raise my bank enough to make some significant purchases. As Yoda said - "Try not, do or do not." (or something like that).....
Inbetween the last post & this, I've had a bit of bad fortune, a bit of good fortune & some downright nasty punting. None of which compares to my tips that I've been posting up in the other main threads (although I have been backing them) moreso my messing around in the Bet365 Games site. If there's a more addictive game than Top Trumps, I haven't seen it yet.. Possibly because I've been spending my time & money in Top Trumps. Speaking of which, Bet365 offer a "Double Your Money" (up to £10) promotion on Top Trumps & am going to put together a small post - and I'm not sure about the legality or ethical side to this, perhaps a mod can either confirm if it's OK - about my thoughts on how to get it without losing more than £1. Probably will just be pointing out the obvious on it.
I digress, my bank now stands at £14.88 - which includes a £10 top up a couple of weeks back. However, it also includes a couple of £10 withdrawals which I was fortunate enough to be able to make.
As a last hurrah for the blog there's an outrageous treble that (funnily enough) probably stands absolutely no chance of coming in but is worth a punt (for me) due to the fact that if it comes in, Bolton will get relegated. And I detest Bolton with a passion usually reserved for *deleted* ex-girlfriends.....
Outrageous "Bolton going down" Treble
1 Reading 5-0 @ 67.00
2 Chelsea 7-0 @ 34.00
3 Fulham 2-0 @ 9.00
Total odds (approx.) 20502.00 Stake £0.88 Potential Return £18,040.88
True, Fulham only need the win rather than a 2:0 victory (if the first two parts of the treble are winners) - and if it's Fulham that let me down by winning but NOT by 2:0, then I'm gonna be slightly annoyed
On a slightly lighter note, if Fulham do get relegated I'm gonna miss the pictures of the Fulham supporters on MOTD. They do have some gorgeous female fans.... And can thetitan hook me up with any of them? Go on mate, you know it makes sense..... _________________ How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?

hi spider, looking forward to your new blog...have got a couple on the go myself at the moment, amazed that i'm doing fairly well in both of them now that i've stopped faffing about with 'AH i'll have a few quid on that', and now i have a fairly rigid staking plan. strongly recommend you get a simple staking plan together and you'll really see the immediate rewards.
as for the women here, are you sure you're watching craven cottage and not scumford bridge?!
we will survive, i've got no doubt about that...aparently we could get into europe via the intertoto cup (fair play) if man city get a few bookings at the weekend! _________________ Corner vulture

Well, it is usually the away games that I've noticed the ladies at - but they are wearing Fulham shirts & there are a regular couple that keep getting shown on MOTD - my word they're HOT I'm sounding like a teenager
Basically, for Bolton to go down Reading need to make up 12 goals & Fulham need to win by the margin of y=(5-x) where x=no. of goals scored by Chelsea. But Fulham need to win....
If you look at the prices bookies are offering for Bolton to be relegated - around 200/1 - by doing trebles that cover the factors needed gets you around 10x what the bookies are offering... As I've said - I hate Bolton with a passion. It's what comes with being a Tranmere fan & I don't excuse it. The Bolton fans should not have sent our players death threats & letters with razor blades glued to the top etc
I'm in two minds about our impending takeover - I don't want us to be owned by foreign business but at the same time, if it can bring interest & funds into the club then I'm all for it.
On the other hand, name another League 1 side that has 8 internationals as part of it's first choice XI.....
Well, yes am hoping the red ***** will provoke the Manc's into getting a few players booked. I think with the whole speculation & the dealings with Sven that Man City (should Sven actually be sacked) should forfeit their "Fair Play" place anyway because Sven has not been treated fairly.... _________________ How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?

Right - a bit of global footy action here :
1 Kashiwa Reysol +0.5 AH @ 1.80
Stake: 1.00 Single
Am wimping out as FC Tokyo have not beaten Kashiwa at home since 2004 (admittedly that's only 2 fixtures back) but Kashiwa also have the better form despite being much lower in the table.
I think this is bet of the day - given the facts, it should be lower than 1.50 IMO & hence am sticking some dosh towards it.... _________________ How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?

Serves me right for drinking didn't update my bank
After placing the above bets my bank stands at £12.00 - would be £13.00 but placed a £1 bet for a friend (incidentally, it's £1 on the treble mentioned above).
Kashiwa Reysol managed a 1:0 away victory at Tokyo this morning Didn't manage to watch it - it was streamed on Bet365's live console - however, I fell asleep As mentioned above, I thought it was a bigger price than it should have been hence backed it
New Bank £13.80
A good start to my weekend, don't really think the above treble will actually come in - as mentioned, sometimes a fun bet for stupid odds just has to be taken otherwise we'd all get very boring _________________ How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?
