Here are a few prospects I have selected for the forthcoming season. I do have a bit of inside info here and there, but not all are from a 'contact' and I have selected them as they are likely types on pedigree. I thought I would put this on here as I know a lot of people just ignore bumpers as they don't know enough about them and hopefully this could become a useful guide for people.

CHECKPOINTCHARLIE (4 b g Supreme Leader - Ramble Bramble)

Trainer: Charlie Swan

I don't know a lot about this horses pedigree, but he has been well spoken of by the trainer and cost 185,000euros and is owned by John Magnier. I do not have a clue when he is coming out, but he is an intriguing prospect nevertheless.

GOLD REWARD (4 ch g Daylami - Trying For Gold)

Trainer: Nicky Henderson

He is related to smart sorts in the shape of Phantom Gold, Tempting Prospect and Fictitious who were all winners over middle distances. Was deemed to backward for flat racing when in the care of Sir Michael Stoute, but the fact he was trained by him and he once held a Derby entry means he must be half decent. Has joined the right connections and can get his career off to a winning start in a NH Flat race whenever it may be.

MODEL PATH (4 ch f Classic Cliche - Wedge Musical)

Trainer: Nicky Henderson

One of many high class bumper prospects from the yard this season. She comes from the family of the talented trio Silver Wisp, Silver Wizard and Silver Wedge and has been working like a very smart horse indeed. Has a good attitude to boot and looks spectacular in appearance. She will probably be seen out in a mares bumper and she should take all the beating before going on to much better things.

MOONLIT PATH (4 b f Shambo - Lunabelle)

Trainer: Nicky Henderson

She comes from a highly successful family and is related to the promising but ill-fated Moonstream. Dam was a decent hurdle/chase performer over 2m and this filly is just another in a long line of decent NH flat horses the trainer has at his disposal. She will probably start off in a bumper at Ludlow and she has been working well so expect a forward showing on her debut.

QUARL EGO (3 b g Ungaro - Jourenuit)

Trainer: Nicky Henderson

He is related to the smart but ill-fated Gloria Victis and is another who works well at home. Should be seen in a juvenile bumper soon enough and trainer thinks he could again be half decent.

RAVELLO BAY (4 b f Supreme Leader - Clonmello)

Trainer: Nicky Henderson

Half sister to Marello who was a very smart sort and was retired last season and this filly is seen as an ideal replacement and may even be better than her. She has worked the best of the yards bumper prospects and she could be quite a special horse according to connections. One to keep an eye out for as she is bound to take all the beating when she makes her debut. Could be very special.

RETURN OF THE KING (5 b g Nashwan - Someone Special)

Trainer: Paul Webber

Very well related colt as his dam is out of the top class miler One In A Million. This now gelding was once entered in the Derby and I know Luca Cumani liked him but, just before he was ready to make an appearance, he got heat in one of his legs and had to be put away. He has been plauged by injuries ever since but, Luca thought he was a smart prospect and if Paul Webber can manage to get him out, he should have no trouble winning his bumper.

SANTIA (4 b f Kahyasi - Santana Lady)

Form: Trainer: Alan King

Trainer rates this filly very highly. She has been working well and showing some very encouraging signs in her work. Apparently one of the best bumper prospects in the yard and must be taken seriously when she does appear which should be around Christmas time.

Please do add any other horses you deem worthy of following in bumpers as they do tend to be a grey area for punters.
