Good going kilkennycat. I am running out of funds as well, and this might be an interesting venture to take up.

I am assuming you do all your research for these place positions? Anything specific that you look for, or do you try and stick with favs if possible?

Thanks for the interest princecap. The night before I write down the time and place of every race that takes place between 1 and 5.30 (usually about 20 races or more). The next morning I buy the Irish Daily Star and I write down Kieran O'Connells(excellent tipster) top 2 picks for each race.

I then check all the races on the Betfair website for no. of runners per race, is it 2, 3 or 4 to be placed, etc. I then compare his tips with the tips on OLBG and I mark each race with a star for a definate bet or question mark for a maybe bet. I try to target evens or better if possible.

I actually don't know much about horse racing to be honest, this time last year I would rather read the phone book than watch a race, but since I joined this site I now love the sport.

I think staking plan is quite important here. I am a little afraid of betting my whole bank, but we'll see.

I might start something similar in person. I think like you mentioned, the main thing is to decide on your bets beforehand; so that you don't have to hurry around looking for something. As for the stake, well, it could be important to work out the exact one for individual bets.

Thanks for the support guys, I really feel I can make some serious money over the next few months if I am sensible. The key is I know I am going to have some losers but the main thing is not to panic if I have 2 or 3 losers in a row.

Ok I have 19 races lined up for tomorrow between the 3 Lunchtime meetings. Hopefully I can reach my target nice and early.

What a day! I was up to my eyes at work and trying to bet at the same time just didn't get a chance to really study things like I have being doing. I should have stopped before that last race but saw that 45% of OLBG tipped Capefly and I actually had it as my 2nd tip in the race, the 1st tip was Flying Indian 2nd

but only 7% tipped this. Was a bit unlucky not getting some of my bets matched but the day could have been much worse.

So today is the day that this blog comes to an end. Nothing went right today with Skid Solo, Coin of the Realm and Master Overseer letting me down big time. I just let yesterday's loss affect me, I felt as if I had to make up the loss today which was a stupid thing to do. I now know that I don't have the discipline to be able to take a losing day which is what you have to be able to do if you want to succeed long term at this game. I think I will take time off this gambling lark and hopefully I can learn from this.
