Well there is only one match result that will stick in the minds of most RoPS supporters for the rest of this season. And that’s their 1-0 victory against hot title favourites HJK. They will struggle to get a bigger result all season. They have only played 3 home matches this season, and their home record is W1 D1 L1 GF1 GA2. Their half time stats at home are W1 D1 L1 GF1 GA2. Its hard to really find any trends with only 3 games played at home for RoPS. The only thing noticeable is the fact no goals have been scored in the second half of any of RoPS’s home games so far this season. 4 of their 10 matches in the league this season have finished as overs. But all 3 of their home matches have ended as unders. RoPS only average 0.7 goals per match and they concede an average of 2 goals per match. They are 13th in the six match form tables with stats of W1 D0 L5 GF5 GA13.
FC Honka
Finally getting some consistency together after a very slow start to their season, winning 3 of their last 4 games. The loss being against FC Inter. FC Honka’s away stats this season are W2 D3 L2 GF13 GA11. They have scored more away goals than any other team in the Veikkausliga, and they are also overall top goal scorers in this league, with a total of 24 goals. Honka’s 2 away defeats were against FC Inter and Tampere United (Who are both very strong home teams). When playing away from home their half time stats are W2 D3 L2 GF4 GA4 showing Honka bag most their away goals in the second half of matches. 7 of their 11 matches this season have finished over 2.5 goals. And 4 of their 7 away matches. They score an average of 2.18 goals per match. They are currently 6th in the six match form tables with a record of W3 D1 L2 GF14 GA8.
Head To Head
Really not much to go on here. Overall the records are slightly in favour of FC Honka with stats of W2 D2 L1 GF8 GA4. And when playing at RoPS’s ground Honka have a record of W1 D0 L1 GF4 GA3. 3 of the 5 encounters have finished over 2.5 goals, but the 2 times they have met in the Veikkausliga both games ended as unders.
Conclusion
Based on recent form you would have to side with FC Honka. But RoPS have already shocked HJK this season. Its likely RoPS will try to defend their way through this match. Head to head is no real help and RoPS have not played enough home games to evaluate any real consistency and trends. On paper this would go down as an away victory but no bet for me on this blog.

Well an interesting weekends worth of games. I was quite pleased i had left FC Honka out, until they miraculously turned things around against RoPS late on. But it was a good weekend with HJK coming out 2-0 winners against FC Inter and TPS winning yesterday. The only setback being FC Haka who were held 0-0 by FF Jaro. But the blog is finally back into profit and their are some midweek games in the Veikkausliga, so i will be back shortly.

VPS Vassa
The home team here are in fantastic form at the moment and they have won their last 6 matches in all competitions. This includes a 1-0 win against FC Inter. But the other 4 leagues wins in this sequence have been against JJK, KuPS, RoPS and MyPA. So it’s fair to say not the best of opposition. But nevertheless, when a team goes on a winning streak confidence is always going to be high, and that could be massive for VPS coming up against a strong outfit such as HJK Helsinki. VPS’s home stats this season are W3 D0 L3 GF9 GA10. And with those 3 home victories coming against JJK, RoPS and KuPS, VPS are yet to beat a team in the top 10 (From only 14) in the away points table this season. Their half time stats are home are also similar to this, W3 D0 L3 GF6 GA6. VPS have averaged 1.09 goals per match this season and they have conceded an average of 1.18 goals per match. They have managed 5 clean sheets from their 11 games so far this season. Only 3 of their 11 matches in the Veikkausliga have finished over 2.5 goals, but all three of these have been when VPS have been playing at home (3 from 6). VPS are 2nd in the six match form tables with a record of W5 D0 L1 GF9 GA4.
HJK Helsinki
A very important victory for HJK Helsinki with a 2-0 victory against FC Inter, after their time off due to internationals. But they are always strong at home and its been their extremely inconsistent record away from home that has held them back this season with a couple of disappointing 1-0 losses, against MyPA and RoPS, who are two relatively weak teams in this league. But now the International period has passed I do expect them to improve and launch their bid for this league title. HJK Helsinki’s away record this season is W1 D1 L2 GF3 GA4. Their 1 away victory ironically coming against League leaders FC Haka. At half time when playing away from home HJK’s record is W0 D3 L1 GF2 GA3. So they are yet to be leading at half time away from home so far in the Veikkausliga. They have averaged 1.55 goals per game this season, and conceded only an average of 0.73 goals per game. And just like their opponents VPS, they too have only had 3 of their 11 matches this season have finished as over 2.5 goals. Only 1 of their 4 away matches. HJK are 7th in the six match form standings, with a record of W3 D2 L1 GF6 GA3.
Head To Head
Well there has been quite a few meetings between these two over the years, and the overall stats favour HJK Helsinki, who have a record of W20 D7 L2 GF56 GA17. And when these two teams have met with VPS Vassa playing at home it also favours HJK who have a record at this ground of W7 D4 L2 GF18 GA9. VPS have only won once in the last 10 meetings, and have not won in the last 4. The overs/unders record is very even. In the last 10 meetings, 5 have resulted in under 2.5 goals and 5 have been over 2.5 goals. When VPS have hosted HJK, 3 of the last 5 matches have finished overs.
Conclusion
Okay, the way I see this is that VPS Vassa are going to be playing with confidence. Even though it is mainly weak opposition they have beaten it will have still given them confidence. HJK got the exact result they needed against fellow title challengers FC Inter after a small break and have no major injury concerns. On paper HJK are much too strong for VPS Vassa and the head to head statistics back this up. I think the odds on the outright win are a little big @ 2.10 with Bet365. But I have been suffering with my away selections so instead of going for the straight away victory I am going to opt for HJK on the Draw No Bet to be on the safe side.

An extremely difficult game to call as both sides have been extremely poor this season and have only won 1 match each this season.
RoPS
Where to start really. RoPS have now lost their last 4 matches in the Veikkausliga and another season of battling relegation is starting to become reality. Fair enough 3 of these 4 losses came against Tampere United, FC Honka and TPS, who are all very strong opposition. But RoPS ground is a difficult place to win at for any team and it was their home form last season that has kept them in the Veikkausliga this year. Their home record this season is W1 D1 L2 GF2 GA4. And when you consider their 4 home matches have been against FC Inter, FC Honka, HJK Helsinki & IFK Mariehamn, who are arguably the 4 of the best 6 teams in this division I think its fair to say its too soon to judge how RoPS have performed at home. Their half time stats when playing at home are W1 D2 L1 GF1 GA2. And they have kept 2 clean sheets in their 4 home games. They have averaged 0.73 goals per match this season and conceded an average of 2 goals per match. 5 of their 11 games in the Veikkausliga have finished over 2.5 goals, and only 1 of their 4 home matches have finished as overs. RoPS are 13th in the six match form table with a record of W1 D0 L5 GF5 GA12. And to be fair to RoPS they have put in some battling displays of late against TPS and FC Honka.
JJK
Promoted last season and coming to terms with the Veikkausliga. JJK finally opened up their winning account in this league on the 9th time of asking with a 2-1 home win against the out of sorts FC Lahti. But JJK have struggled away from home this season and are yet to win an away match having already played a few weak opponents. Including losing 2-0 against KuPS and losing 3-2 to VPS Vassa. Their away stats this season are W0 D1 L3 GF3 GA10. They also don’t seem to enjoy the first halves of their away matches either with half time away stats of W0 D1 L3 GF2 GA5. JJK have managed to keep 1 clean sheet from their away games this season, which was a 0-0 draw to TPS. They have averaged 0.9 goals per match this season, and conceded an average of 1.8 per match. 4 of their 10 matches have finished over 2.5 goals, and when play away, 2 of their 4 matches have finished as overs. Their last 2 away matches have seen a total of 11 goals. They are 12th in the six match form table with statistics of W1 D1 L4 GF8 GA15. And equal with KuPS they have conceded the most amount of goals in the last 6 league games with 15.
Head To Head
Could not be more boring here. Only 5 meetings between the sides. Overall the head to head stats are exactly equal for both teams who both have stats of W1 D3 L1 GF6 GA6. When RoPS are playing at home against JJK they are unbeaten with a record of W1 D1 L0 GF3 GA2. But no real stats or patterns to go by here.
Conclusion
The more I looked into this the more I like the look of a home win. RoPS have played some extremely strong opposition this season and although they are 2nd bottom in league and its likely the RoPS players might be hanging their heads sightly, they are still showing battling displays and getting some close results. JJK have been very weak away from home and even managed to lose 2-0 to KuPS. There are no head to head trends and the goals market from the stats above slightly favour under 2.5 goals. I might have a bet on the Asian Handicap with OLBG money on RoPS but I am undecided whether or not I can really on a home win here on this blog. Tampere United
Well their losing percentage away from home stayed at 100% as Tampere lost 2-1 to FC Lahti. But they have been picking up points when they play at home this season. The home stats are W4 D0 L2 GF7 GA5. Their 4 home wins have come against FC Honka, KuPS, RoPS and VPS Vassa. Their defeats came against FF Jaro and TPS and both defeats were by a 2-0 score line. Only 1 of their 6 home matches have seen both teams involved score. Tampere Uniteds half time stats at home are W2 D2 L2 GF3 GA2. They have only managed to score an average of 0.73 goals per match this season, and have conceded an average of 1.27 goals per game. They have kept 3 clean sheets in their 6 home matches, and they have failed to score on two occasions at home this season. When playing the tops teams in the Veikkausliga at home Tampere United usually tend to fair pretty well and tend to hold their own. Only 3 of Tampere Uniteds 11 leagues games this season have finished over 2.5 goals, and only 1 of their 6 home matches have finished as overs, and that was their last home game against RoPS. Tampere are currently 8th in the six match form table with a record of W3 D0 L3 GF7 GA5.
FC Inter
Will be looking to immediately bounce back after suffering a 2-0 defeat against their main title challengers HJK Helsinki. While FC Inter are the bookies second favourite to win the Veikkausliga this season, I personally rate them 3rd behind both FC Honka and HJK Helsinki. And its fair to say last years champions are going to have their work cut out if they are going to retain their championship. Away from home this season FC Inter’s record is W2 D1 L2 GF4 GA4. Their only away victories coming against KuPS and RoPS. But then their only defeats have been against IFK Mariehamn and HJK Helsinki (Who are both unbeaten at home). So its quite hard to really assess where FC Inter stand when playing away from home. At half time when playing away from their stats are W1 D2 L2 GF2 GA2. Inter have kept an impressive 5 clean sheets already this season, but have also failed to score on 5 occasions this season, and they have not scored in 3 of their 5 away games. Also, interestingly, in all 5 of FC Inters away matches, one team has always failed to score. There has not been 1 away match for FC Inter where both teams have got on the score sheet. They average 1 goal per match, and concede an average of 0.82 goals per match. Just like Tampere, a very high percentage of Inters matches have finished under 2.5 goals, 9 games from 11 to be exact. And when playing away from home all 5 of Inters away games have finished as unders. They sit 9th in the six match form table and have a record of W3 D0 L3 GF6 GA6.
Head To Head
This is one particular stat that really favours Tampere United. Overall the record for the home side here is W18 D4 L3 GF48 GA20. And in this fixture when Tampere are playing at home the stats are still in their favour with a record of W10 D2 L0 GF25 GA8. Inter have not won any of the last 10 meetings between these two teams. These have resulted in 6 Tampere victories and 4 draws. 6 of the last 10 meetings between the two have finished under 2.5 goals. But 4 of the last 7 meetings at this ground have finished over 2.5 goals.
Conclusion
This is a game that is too difficult to call. And I won’t be having any bets on this. While the head to head stats massively favour Tampere United you have to remember that when they won the Veikkausliga 2 years ago their most talented players left the club with the elusive dream of finding stardom elsewhere. Whether they did or not I do not know. The point being Tampere are not the side they use to be. Inter are also slightly unpredictable this season but it’s almost impossible to assess their away performance based on the matches they have played. Well in the end both bet 13 and bet 14 were successful. And as Murt says, only after a couple of heart stopping moments. HJK Helsinki eventually saw off VPS with a final result of 4-3. They did trail 3-1 early on in the second half. RoPS also decided to make hard work of things, having gone down to 10 men early in the second half. JJK then joined them on 10 men with 15 minutes left to go and RoPS scored from the resulting penalty. But a shock was almost on the cards when JJK equalised in the 88th minute, before RoPS settled things in extra time. Taking the match with a 2-1 victory.
