It started back in oct when we visited a trainers property to have a look at a few dogs for sale .
Keep in mind that i have being around checking on a lot of new littters as well as pre-raced dogs.

We are looking around this day with the wife and kids for what we hope might be a good buy for my self and a few Bunji followewrs that are getting behind my self as i look to progress to the trainers ranks.

We had seen just about every dog when i made my choice to walk out empty handed.

Then the words were spoken..
And this one is going down the back to be shot
(please keep in mind this is a practice used all over the world and not mine)

The whole family were stunned to here this news even if we didnt know the dog from a bar of soap.
It really did change the mood for the rest of the family .

I my self was getting to walk out yet again from the property , when the words were spoken..

He has hair line fracture in both front legs as well as under weight and just a Non chasing mutt...
Will never win another race and will be verey lucky ever to run a place again as he had 63 starts to this date and was well by his used date in greyhound racing.

The wife all flowing with emotions as well as the youngings saying can we have please.. can we have him...

**** man you know how to put DAD on the spot..

He will be gone tommorrow said the trainer
So we sat down and had a yarn about this dog POLICE OFFICER aKa (BOBBY)
and before you know it we are in the wifes Hyundi excel with a over grown dish licker
Bobby is 1 big boy at 32kgs black dog with a lovely white spot on his chest.

Now there is 1 dad 1 mum 2 children and a dishlicker they say will not run again You can clearly see i needed a drink by now

No trainer and no place to keep a dog ..
I had to act quick Unlucky

I got on the phone and made a few calls to the trainers that i know and cam up with a good result.
The main thing is can you help the dog out was my concern Win ...

Give me a chance and i will let you know in a week
Then BOBBY was eneterd for his first race under new trainer and owner.
result after being last to turn was
4th R5 32.0kg MDH 405 06-Nov-07 23.50 6.50 Len Pure Brilliance 23.06 (22.91) Mc7/4 5 $6.50

Not to our shock he seemed to have lost a lot of zip and ping which was expected.
Trust me ... if this dog runs a placing we would be verey happy owners and the kids a million times over of happiness Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

After the race we were told to look for a bullet again or another trainer that can work on him for you Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad

This point sent me back into GAGA land once again

So out to nabelup we go in order to see a mate that works wonders with all dogs if there is any chance left what so ever Fingers Crossed Confused

After this meeting it was agreed that we would put the extra time into bobby and send him to my mate

After we got him there he went right over the dog and said ''this dont look good Bunj''
**** MOTHER F----R ****

2 hair line fractures in both front legs and wrist problems as well..
They will normally stop a dog full stop at some stage in the race...

Until then i had NO idea what sort of work bobby needed to have put in to him but inturn become aware real quick after his explanation.

Bobby then was worked on and worked on and worked on and put these runs together

6th R7 32.1kg MDH 405 29-Nov-07 23.42 7.00 Len Speedy Schooner 22.95 (22.95) Mc8/7 4/5 $38.50
4th R2 31.9kg MDH 492 15-Nov-07 28.64 4.75 Len Heaven And Angel 28.33 (27.89) Q2/4go/5 4/5 $8.80 $40
7th R11 31.1kg MDH 405 08-Nov-07 23.94 7.50 Len West On Jiff 23.44 (23.27) Sc7c/7 4 $8.20

After his 6th to speedy schooner who has won 6 from 8 W.A start i thought since he was last away as always that we would give him 1 more run after also finding another checkered passage as always
Thats what all the ccc are.

We thought we had him right for the next start to run a place if any luck given in the race.. the result was ..
8th R1 31.4kg MDH 302 06-Dec-07 18.00 6.00 Len Force The Speed 17.60 (17.27) Mcc7c/c6 5 $7.60

Just what do you dooooooooo and another checkered run
People were saying behind the back ''nutters''
But its not the money to us .....
Nor is it about running lasts

About giving somthing a second chance when every body say NO NO NO

We were just about at a boiling point just begging for some luck in running and BOBBY to produce what he has being doing on the training track..
WHICH WAS FLYING by this stage and beating last start winners on more than 2 occasions...

Then it ALL CAME TOGETHER

Back to a distance that was more suitable on the dogs problems as well.
with the result being
3rd R2 30.9kg MDH 302 27-Dec-07 18.02 6.25 Len Annmala Moveover 17.61 (17.54) M3/h4cc 5 $10.50
After a ckheckeredvpassage ye again bobby showed JUST what guts he has.
HE ALSO BOUGHT A TEAR to every family member.

Many congradts were given which i thought was a great way of them saying they were wrong..

Well after that start bobby has still continued to improve and improve every single day.
We were hoping for a inside draw next start in wich he has the better form from.

He drew the 3 i yell to the wife ,when the noms came out...

With us in oar of his recent work and run we are MORE than sure with a touch of luck he will be in the placings again next start..

WHICH brings us to yesterday
TRACK AND RACE RECORD

Yes we did not win
But our fellow was a winner with us..
AND THE PUNTERS THAT WERE ON 15-1 POP paying $1.60 a place
result being
2nd R1 31.4kg MDH 302 03-Jan-08 17.58 8.50 Len Mixin' It 17.02 (17.02) Q2c/2 5 $11.70

And yes bobby was checking it around last night as well and kept bulliking up and SHOWING a great bit of courage to thunder around the out side of the 1 dog which could of put him out of play.

Speachless i was as i took up a quiet spot at the mandurah track to sit and think about
THE DOG NO BODY WANTED Kiss (Thanks Very Much!)

Hes still alive and will become our family pet when he finishes racing..

MORAL OF THE STORY
never give up my punting friends
and DREAMS CAN COME TRUE .. just put in the gound work

i will continue to up date you all on how Bobby is going and when he will run again next

GO BOBBY GOOOOOOOOOOOOO Cool Cool Cool

7-667 #OAKFORD LAD 17.58 /18.16
8-658 #BEAN SEEN 17.48 / 18.34

**Looks like Bobby had his chance blown by draw. Is way better suited by inside draw but hasnt done to bad in the pass with a 2nd/3rd grade runs at Northam over the sprints in which he contested mainly F.F.A and top company races there.
Saying that if he begins as well as he has last 2 starts then no doubt he will be right there looking to cross as he did last start when 2nd in TRACK RECORD time.

If he does lead then i will say it could be over as he is staying on strong and can run out the 302m with ease.
This factor as well as the size of the dog will put him in with a great chance if able to cross.
Remeber he has never WON from box 5 but is out to have a MIGHTY good crack at it.

Here are a all of his starts from box 5....

Our bobby boy

With out a doubt one of the most special nights in my life.
Was a real night of surprises with many bowing to the fact that they were wrong.

Even as far as congrats from the Mandurah track staff and stewerds.

For years i have dreamed of owning a dog.
But under these circumstances it just made it all that more special.

Thank you to all that have supported the legacy of the ,

RACE DAY : LAST THOUGHTS
He is reported to be going as good as he was last week.
Bunj thinks under 8-1 is unders ... so watch Tote when having a bet.
Should start O.K and will find the rails as soon as he gets the run,

The first 50m will make or break his race tonight as he has now stepped up to 2nd /3rd grade.
Starting to meet some handy dogs with AGE being the down side.
Quartets or first 4s looks the way to go when looking for value
