I've been pretty successful with these kind of bets for the last three or four years (although i don't usually do multiples, they seem to work out quite well for me in this market).
Just looking at the prices for this years match ups on william hills site
12:45 - 4/6 Blackburn 11/10 Sunderland
12:45 - 2/5 Tottenham 7/4 Newcastle
15:00 - 10/11 Everton 4/5 Aston Villa
15:00 - 4/6 Fulham 11/10 Birmingham
15:00 - 4/7 Liverpool 5/4 Arsenal
15:00 - 8/11 Man City 1/1 Bolton
15:00 - 5/6 Middlesbrough 5/6 Reading
15:00 - 1/1 West Ham 8/11 Portsmouth
15:00 - 8/13 Wigan 6/5 Derby
13:30 - 8/11 Man Utd 1/1 Chelsea
At first glance I think Blackburn to finish above Sunderland is the stand out bet in the Premiership market. Sunderland will probably just about stay-up, but they are nowhere near as strong as Reading were when they went up, and I think Blackburn under Hughes look a solid top 10 outfit.
I think I'll have to study things a bit further before selecting my other bets (and listen to the advice from the wise folk on here) but I think Fulham will boot and elbow their way to comfortable safety under Sanchez, while I can see Birmingham being in a spot of bother.
15:00 - 5/6 Blackpool 5/6 Bristol City More
15:00 - 5/6 C Palace 5/6 Cardiff More
15:00 - 8/13 Charlton 6/5 Sheff Utd More
15:00 - 4/6 Coventry 11/10 Burnley More
15:00 - 5/6 Hull 5/6 Q P R More
15:00 - 8/11 Leicester 1/1 Sheff Wed More
15:00 - 8/11 Norwich 1/1 Ipswich More
15:00 - 4/6 Plymouth 11/10 Colchester More
15:00 - 4/5 Scunthorpe 10/11 Barnsley More
15:00 - 4/5 Stoke 10/11 Preston More
15:00 - 5/6 Watford 5/6 Southampton More
15:00 - 5/6 West Brom 5/6 Wolves
I haven't really thought much about the championship market yet, but as much as it hurts me to say this, my beloved Stoke are in a right mess at the moment. If we played a season with the squad we have now we would be certainties to finish below Preston, even without Nugent.
However, I can't back against my own team, and who knows what might happen if Pulis ropes in a load of decent loan signings like last year?
Anyway, all thoughts on this very much welcome.

Id have a acc with Sheff Weds NAP 6/5, Everton 10/11, Liverpool 4/7 and Portsmouth 8/11 @ 11.4
I have a mate who supports Sheffield Wednesday so I was forced to follow their progress last season and after starting badly they put in a really good effort towards the end of the season just missing out on a play off spot. They are a team heading forward while Leicester have struggled recently and another lower mid table finish is likely.
Wont touch any of the other Championship match bets as the league is abit of a lottery.
Aston Villa didnt lose alot of games last season but they never looked like winning alot either. They lacked any cutting edge and dont have a goalscorer to turn those draws into wins. Cant see them progressing next season with a squad lacking any strength in depth and look set for a bottom half of the table finish around 11-15.
Don't think Henry leaving will have the impact on Arsenal that most people are predicting but Arsenal have questions to answer and Liverpool look certain for 3rd place.
Portsmouth played really well last season and hung around the top end of the table playing some good football. West Ham were saved by Tevez and the buzz his performances created. Another season of struggling in the top half looks likely. _________________ Royal Ascot Comp 2007 #3, Aintree Comp 2008 #1

I've done a BlueSq Acca on...
Tranmere to Finish Above Oldham @ Evns
We are going to have real competition for places up front, with 4 strikers to choose from, and have bin banging in the goals during pre-season, currently on 15 goals in 4 matches, all away from home, and last night beat a strong new League Two side in Morcambe 3-0.
Scoring boots are on for our strikers, and attacking midfielder Steve Davis has got 3 goals in pre-season as well...
Danny Coyne pulling his weight in goal, only let one strike in and has pulled off some great saves, Evns is a cracking price seeing as i think we will definately go better than last season, and take a place in the higher reaches of the playoffs i.e. 3rd or fourth.
Rotherham to finish above Chesterfield @ Evns
I can see Rotherham jumping straight back up next season, the 10pt deduction put them on a real downer for the season, and no doubt they will now have to put every effort in gaining promotion. Chesterfield aren't a bad side, but Rotherham should be able to get an Automatic spot this season, and bounce straight back
Luton to finish above Southend @ 5/6
Freddie Eastwood was Mr Southend last season, and without him they are mediocre and may under-perform next season. Luton on the other hand should be able to finish ahead of Southend as they are going to be one of the strongest teams next season, although 2 points behind them last season, next season is expected to be a lot better for Luton rather than Southend (sorry Step )
Tottenham to finish above Arsenal @ 7/4
Spurs are constantly improving, and I can see them getting a Champions League place next season, at the expense sadly of Arsenal who are on a downward spiral, and have been for a couple of seasons in the league. Spurs are a team I have a lot of admiration for and I can really see them pushing Arsenal all the way, 7/4 is well worth the punt
Southampton to finish above Watford @ 10/11
As I think that Southampton are going to win the division, 10/11 is worth throwing in an Accumulator for this bet. Southampton are a very good side in my books, and will be a lot stronger next season after being unlucky in missing out on the play-off final last season.
Watford had a better season in the Premiership than their first attempt, but in all honesty, next season the Championship should be going to St Mary's and I think that the Saints will walk away with the division amongst a few poor opponents with only realistically Birmingham, West Brom and Charlton being challengers to the top spot

Apologies, I somehow managed to mix up Birmingham and Wolves, , and forgot they were the 3rd team promoted in all honesty...
Also think Man City to finish above Sunderland is a good bet, but already took this one up with someone @ Evns _________________ Top Football Tipster June 2006

12:45 - 4/6 Blackburn 11/10 Sunderland
Blackburn @ 4/6
I think Sunderland will stay up comfortably, but I also expect Blackburn to push on an improve on last season's position and secure a top 7 place.
12:45 - 2/5 Tottenham 7/4 Newcastle
Tottenham @ 2/5
Poor price but should be a lot shorter. Even if Europe affects Spurs they should still comfortably finish ahead of Newcastle, who's bad luck has already started with Barton's broken foot.
15:00 - 4/6 Fulham 11/10 Birmingham
Fulham @ 4/6
Simple explanation behind this one, I think Birmingham will go down, and Fulham will stay up!
15:00 - 5/6 Middlesbrough 5/6 Reading
Reading @ 5/6
I've predicted a season of struggle for Boro elsewhere on the forum, and I stand by it. I dont think Reading will live up to last season, but they should acheive a comfortable mid-table position, which I feel will be higher then Boro manage.
15:00 - 1/1 West Ham 8/11 Portsmouth
Portsmouth @ 8/11
West Ham have splashed out seemingly every week since the transfer window opened, but theyve also lost Benayoun and soon will lose Tevez. Pompey have made a few signings too but I feel Portsmouth have more stability and will edge out West Ham in this market.
15:00 - 8/13 Wigan 6/5 Derby
Wigan @ 8/13
Again not the best of prices but I think Wigan will narrowly avoid relegation whereas Derby are doomed from the start.
The six way acca pays just short of 19/1 (exact odds 19.89 or 18.89/1)
Good luck all _________________ The only dedicated snooker betting blog on OLBG! -> Click here

12:45 - 4/6 Blackburn 11/10 Sunderland
Absolutley no doubt in my mind that this one will go to Blackburn who IMHO will be up looking for a UEFA place this year. No real reasoning behind the idea only that they will make a better start to the season than last which i think cost them quite a few places.
12:45 - 2/5 Tottenham 7/4 Newcastle
Lots and lots of confidence about Newcastle with BIG SAMS arrival, but if they are to beat Spurs in this match up i think they will have to be finishing in at least fourth place.
15:00 - 10/11 Everton 4/5 Aston Villa
This is a tricky one to call, although i'm not convinced O'Neill has spent enough money as yet to make much of an improvement on last term, in fact elsewhere i have tiopped them up as a lively outsider for relegation. EVERTON for me here
15:00 - 4/6 Fulham 11/10 Birmingham
Going to go with the new boys in this match up, Fulham had their troubles last year and i think it could be all over for them this time around.
15:00 - 4/7 Liverpool 5/4 Arsenal
Liverpool will be too strong for Arsenal again this year, although having said that i wouldnt be at all surprised to see arsenes youngsters all step up to the plate and do better than expected, Still Liverpool for me.
15:00 - 8/11 Man City 1/1 Bolton
Bolton have not turned into a terrible team juts cos Sam has left, but then Sven may make a huge diff to the fortunes of the blus side of Manchester. This one is a NO BET
15:00 - 5/6 Middlesbrough 5/6 Reading
As above, i cant see Reading repeating last year efforts, the Wigan effect could come into play but dont know what to expect from the boro although they will not be helped by the departure of Viduka, if the Yak goes too, then it could spell trouble but this is a NO BET too.
15:00 - 1/1 West Ham 8/11 Portsmouth
Portsmouth all the way
15:00 - 8/13 Wigan 6/5 Derby
Another tricky match up, could both face the drop come May, but Wigan should be aboce Derby in any event.
13:30 - 8/11 Man Utd 1/1 Chelsea
Chelsea will have to win the prem to win this match up and i dont think they will, MAN U _________________ NEW! Yard Targets, - Click here

Amazing when you look back on these isn't it...
Southampton matched with Watford. Bristol City matched with Blackpool...all seems so easy with hindsight. STOKE against preston!!!
What does strike you is how much more predictable the entire premiership is when compared to the championship. Apart from the blackburn/Sunderland "gift" there wasn't that much between any of the teams who were paired up together. A few astute picks in the championship though and you could have been counting your winnings over Xmas dinner.
The only one out of five picks to let me down this time was Tranmere vs Huddersfield. I would have really been celebrating if Tranmere hadn't had a late season collapse, at the same time that Huddersfield rocketed up from the depths of nowhere to finish one point ahead.
Still, roll on next year....more easy money? |

5 out of 6 for me wasnt bad, no idea if I even placed that 18/1 acca anyway! (have to check old accounts, only use Betfair now) Only Reading let me down.
I'll certainly be looking at that market for next season though, even if it does tie your money up for 9 months! |
