Norwich are now 10/11 to be relegated according to Bet365 (glad I took them @ 9/4 after the QPR game), whilst The Pride of Anglia are now 16/1 to win the league and 6/1 to be promoted.
Have to say that apart from a dodgy opening 15 minutes in which we conceded (and saved) a penalty I was impressed with our display against Wolves on saturday. I'd be happy just to scrape into the top 6 at the end of the season but we might just be the dark horses this year. Can't see anyone other than Watford winning the league but I'm having a punt on us @ 16/1 e/w just in case we finish 2nd or 3rd...the latter obviously allows for us to make our customary exit should we make the play-offs!
With the East Anglian Derby coming up on saturday this could either result in a change for Norwich's fortunes or our first away win of the season

Im with you Levy mate, i backed us to win the league on Betfair and have recently traded at a much lower price because we will not win the league and as you said i cannot see anyone other Watford winning it.
And what great news we have had today and possible an extra edge to get us promoted, the club are close to securing major investment from Marcus Evans, this would involve our £32m debt being completly wipe out and an extra £12m being made available to the club, hope Jim will get a fair whack of that to improve the team, a start of a new era for the club and i hope Jim can spend wisely and their is a good chance we could push for promotion. |

Some good fixtures this weekend but can't see any away wins in Saturdays line ups.
Barnsley at home to a Preston side that are showing tentative signs of a revival and take them to get a point with the draw at 11/5 looking good.
Plymouth should be too strong at home for Sheff Wed and worth a punt at 4/6.
QPR and Hull are likely to share the spoils and was impressed by Hulls organisation at Watford recently so draw at 11/5.
I thought Crystal Palace looked woeful at home on Tuesday and reckon Warnock has his work cut out with the current squad and can see another loss at Scunthorpe with the home win at 6/5 nicely priced.
Sheffield Utd need to string a few results together and could start with beating Burnley though at present Beattie has too great a burden to carry alone, but at 5/6 worth including.
Southampton would surely be pushing for the top if they could tighten their defence, but Charlton in poor form of late and take Saints fire power to come out on top and 11/10 looks great value.
Coventry looked a very poor side last week and though Mifsud looks a class act their off field problems are weighing heavily. Stoke are a big strong side and at home will be too good for the sky blues and 5/6 looks good.
Watford against West Brom could be a high scoring game and in Miller the baggies have a great partner for Phillips but Watford have their own strike force in King and Henderson and with Johnson proving a real bonus they are taken to come out on top at 10/11.
Wolves at home to high flying Bristol City looks another cracker with strong arguments for a draw but I take Wolves to nick what should be a close game and evens is a decent price.
Mr Roeder not going to get an easy ride at Norwich with an east anglian derby against Ipswich on Sunday and then a visit from Watford on Tuesday and really can't see them getting anything from either game, though the Ipswich inability to win away must be overcome.
A few thought to get your teeth into and be good to hear thoughts of some other folks. |

Zipster me old mate, long time no speak. Have to say I'm not getting too carried away about the takeover yet as we've got a track record of screwing things up whenever we have money to spend. Part of me likes the fact that we've had our backs against the wall financially for a few years and have had to develop our own players. I get more pleasure seeing the likes of Haynes, Clarke, Garvan etc coming through than us signing players from other clubs. Also, I hope we don't do buy success and Jim is given time to deliver as I like him and what he's doing.
Not sure what to predict for sunday, it's all set up for a Norwich win and I've just got a bad feeling about it _________________ FAC51 The Hacienda...back in the day, it's where it all started |

Ok, maybe I'm a bit biased, but after witnessing Saturday's 6-0 demolition of Bristol City I can help but think that the 20/1 being offered for Ipswich to win the league is extremely generous. The only other teams in the league who are arguably stronger than us are Watford, West Brom, Charlton & Sheff Utd. If we manage to sort out our away form there is a distinct possibility we could sneak into th top 3 come the end of the season. The fact that we may also have up to £12m to spend on players if the takeover goes through could also give us the boost that we need to have a successful season. Got to be worth an e/w punt surely?

Ipswich the form team, and yes Levvy, they look worthy of an Each Way punt. If as you say they have money in January then surely they will only go one way
Charlton seemed to have clicked and look strong.
Watford have seemed to hit a sticky patch, done me out of a 5 timer saturday
My team wolves playing great footie but just cant put teams away, struggled again saturday to get over the line, surely it's just a matter of time untill we hammer someone. Eastwood shot, hits the post, the rebound goes to collins he fires it smack on the same post, you couldnt write the script at the moment
West Brom, they will miss Phillips up front who could be out for the season and also Albrechtsen at the back is now injured, these injuries could halt Albions charge towards promotion, I DO HOPE SO
Finally, Sheff Utd and Wednesday both look like theyve turned the corner so things are hotting up nicely with most of the predicted teams beginning to gain momentum. _________________ Dont look up, Look down, theres always someone worse off than yourself..

Good to see a few teams starting to find a bit of form now, it was the inability of some teams to string a run together that saw my boys forge so far clear, though that said we've now taken just 4 points from the last 9, and away to Barnsley this weekend won't be easy, but I still fancy us for 3 points. Johnson has been recalled by Middlesborough, so our strikers will have to shoulder a greater burden as his 5 goals were valuable and his crossing has been a major factor so next few games may well determine our ability to remain at the top, but we should have our 2 key midfielders back in the new year and as neither have kicked a ball this season yet that should provide a huge boost.
Agree with Mac and can see WBA struggling for goals unless they can find someone to support Miller now Phillips is out.
Charlton looking good though a couple of very late winners in games have turned things around for them.
Good job Ipswich can't win away or they'd be a real threat, and looking a decent e/w punt at present. |

Nearly forgot on the above post Sheff Utd will never win anything all the time Robson is manager, they have still only won 5 games out of 16 and the only player who can score for them is Beattie, if they lose him they are stuffed.
Wolves remain a good bet for the play offs and it can't be long before Eastwood gets back on the goal trail.
At present though I still fancy Watford to win it with Charlton filling the other automatic slot. |

Well, it's been awhile but here we are running into the end of the year and things going pretty well, Watford sitting on top of the Championship by two points. Given the team's inconsistency it's a little surprising that they're at the head of affairs. Watford now have two home games against Cardiff and then QPR which hopefully will (certainly should) yield some decent points and set things up nicely for the New Year.
Not surprising to see WBA sitting in second, always thought they would be main danger. They have an interesting game next time out at home (i think) to Bristol City (who are probably the surprise team so far.) Looks like it's going to be a close run thing, should be fun. |

Hi Red,
Long time no hear mate
Like you said, Watford still topping the table despite a few bad results. Albion still there and looking strong too, it really shows what a league it is when they lose 3-1 at stoke, anyone is capable of beating anyone. The only 2 teams who have suprised me are Leics and Sheff utd, still waiting for them to find some form, may have left it too late now. My team Wolves just hovering up there and really need to buy in Jan to cement there way into the top 6. Really missing Kightly and the football as been real poor for weeks now. The fans are turning and aint a happy bunch
Watch out for QPR the richest club in Britain to make a move in the transfer window. There new owner is worth 22 billion, Abramovich is a mere peasant ammassing a fortune of only 9.5 billion. I hate all this money in the game but with this kind of backing who knows where they could be in a few years time.
Good luck all _________________ Dont look up, Look down, theres always someone worse off than yourself..

I've been on Watford for a month or so to win league at 3.95. They definitely going through a sh*te patch. Is this still a good bet to hang onto?
Anyone got legal contacts??? Cardiff in court early Jan08 to defend action from a company they owe £25M. It was reported they should lose the case then administration follows = 10 point deduction and getting Hasselbank, Fowler, Sinclair et al off the payroll. 8.0 with Coral to be relegated at the mo. Good bet? Or have Corals done their research and Cardiff & the "wily" Mr Risdale should live to fight another day? _________________ Steve |
