There seems to be a lot of feeling amonst some punters with regard to Fulham beating Pompey and Derby beating Reading this weekend. We all know that ANYTHING can happen in football but before parting with your hard earned cash I would just like to remind anyone attracted by the odds on offer....Reading did actually beat Man United away at the beginning of the season and are now fighting for their very survival in this match. Do not expect them to just roll over, they are more than capable of beating a very poor Derby team on their day...
Some people seem to be thinking that Pompey have nothing left to play for and are just concentrating on the Cup final. Anyone who thinks that couldn't be more wrong. Pompey are 8th in the league on 57 points whilst Aston Villa are 6th on 59 points. Pompey could catch Villa and guarantee themselves an Inter Toto place just in case they 'blow' the final. Also, Defoe is ineligable for the cup final and will be signing his season off in front of his new adhoring fans. Together with others like Nugent who are fighting for a squad place in the final and trying to impress Harry Redknapp, there is no way Pompey will just roll over for Fulham. If anyone feels that strongly about these matches I would certainly recommend at least the DNB option. Personally, I wouldn't touch these games with a barge poll! Good luck anyway IF you have a go...I always love to see the bookies take a bashing.... |

I reckon Derby are such a poor team they couldn't win if Reading forgot to turn up, but I suppose anything is possible. I also think the game with Reading and United at the start of the season was 0-0.
Also I'm sure Posrtmouth haven't applied for the Intertoto Cup this year and so there only chance of UEFA competition would be from the FA Cup. I think that will mean more emphasis from them on the final. |

birmingham v blackburn
birmingham fighting for their lives will have fans behind them at home. However, despite the fact blackburn have nothing to play for, Mark Hughes will still demand 100% from them which could produce an interesting. Birmingham will probably have more motivation but Blackburn have a goal threat in the form of Roque Santa Cruz where most of his goals have come away from Ewood Park.
I can see this being an entertaining game but it will be a draw which would send the blues down.
DRAW @ 5/2
ROQUE SANTA CRUZ TO SCORE FIRST 13/2 |

Andy4Fingers....
I stand corrected mate...they did only draw against United away but it was still a hell of a result! The point here is that as a team they have actually drawn away to teams like Spurs, West Ham and Man United whilst beating teams like Liverpool and Everton at home. Their last good away win was I think against Middlesborough. They've had a rubbish season but the point is they are more than capable of getting a result at Derby dependant on which Reading team turns up as they say.....whatever, it's certainly a dodgy shout to bet with Derby in this game. |

dodgey shout most certainly, but worth a 6.4 offer from the bookies?
now thats the point to dangle on, also noticed that Fulham are faves over porstmouth, a double of pompey and derby would bring in tasty odds and it isn't as doubtful as it may sounds |

i have bet on pompey to beat fulham despite the fact they have the FA cup final to play. David James has pleaded for Harry Redknapp to let him play against Fulham, so the Cottagers won't like that. Also, Jermaine Defoe is cup tied and will play against Fulham and i think this will be the difference in the day.
And Derby? I don't care if bookies are offering good odds on them, they are so poor even Reading should see them off comfortably. |

Just a quickie on the Pompey fulham game, David James is now confirmed as missing the match and Sol Campbell is also a doubt. But i would still have Pompey down to win this game against Fulham. _________________ 6 Months Horse Racing Blogs

I can't understand why so many people are backing WHam, Lawro included. In form tables they are 18th (only thanks to a win over Derby) and Villa play brilliantly away from home . OK, they were shocking v Wigan but can't help but think the Barry transfer talk had an affect. Sure he's over it now.
VILLA 2.25 (bookies price)
over 2.5 goals in same match 1.85
2 nothing games
Midd v Manc, Spurs v Pool both to draw 3.45, 3.5
Chelsea game backing 2-0 and 3-0 for combined odds of 3.5
People also under-estimate Wigans form at the mo, conceded 1 goal in 7 at home and 0 losses. Under 2.5 goals in a tense game looks great value @ 2.5 |

Just a note on the Boro v City match - City are in the UEFA cup as things stand due to the fair play league and so surely Sven will tell the players to take it easy against Boro. I'd steer clear of this match.
