Just thought with all the teams decided for the English Leagues next season, that it would be a good time to get people's early views on who they think could go well next season.
The season hasn't even kicked off yet, and already the 3 promoted teams are the 3 favourites to go straight back down, with both Hull and Stoke already backable at less than 1/2 on Betfair. But interestingly enough, one team I am currently looking into are Wigan, not much liquidity going at the moment, but their seasons keep on getting worse in the Premiership in terms of position, and if they don't get a couple of decent players during the summer then they could really struggle to cope with their current squad...

At the other end, I would go with Arsenal in all honesty, they are set to spend big this summer, and a price of 6/1 is way too high for the Gunners, only 5 points off the pace last season, and can improve on this in my eyes...

Championship leads me to one team, QPR @ 8.6, can't see past them really with the owners they have, should be able to put in a massive bid for the title given their money, with probably either Palace or Birmingham being the main challengers for the title. I think that it will be these 3 teams who manage to claim promotion to the top flight this season though. With Sheff Wed, Doncaster and Blackpool heading to League One at the end of the season.

Talking about League One, Leeds are still a huge price in my eyes, even though they are 7/2 favourites. There comeback was brilliant last season after their 15pt deduction, and no doubt now the worst of their troubles are behind them, they will be able to strengthen their squad during the summer, a full season for Gary at the helm, and I think they are going to bounce straight back with over 100pts this season, and it's very hard to see past them this season...

Not much to say about League Two, once again Rochdale stay at this level for the 900th year running Laughing , I would have to go for the nearly men of Darlington @ 7/1 to win the division, providing that Bournemouth receive a 15pt deduction under the "Leeds Rule" Cheeky , if they start the season unscathed however, I would expect their price of 14/1 to fall, as I think they are definately a strong side for this level, their oh so nearly comeback last season was almost perfect, but sadly they failed at the last hurdle, and to be honest, if they were on a level playing field this season, I could see them walking away at a canter in this division if they could carry that form into this league...

I don't know what you know about the Championship but my team Wednesday will not be in the bottom 3 next season. They won't set the division on fire but I don't think we will struggle as badly as last season. We may have a bit of money to spend as well if the alleged "takeover" ever materialises.

I don't know what odds they are and it pains me to say this but I think Sheffield United will be an excellent bet to win the division. If they had got Blackwell in last summer instead of going for the "big name" of Bryan Robson then they would have won the division easily last season. Granted the Championship will be a stronger division next season with bigger teams with more money in it but I really fancy United.

Odds for Sheffield United anybody?

I agree with QPR being a very good tip for the Championship, promotion of sorts at least in with a chance to challenge with the backing they have.

I think Wolves might be a good shout for promotion, they're at 16/1 to win outright!

They finished the season quiet strong an just missed out on a play-off place. Tho suppose alot will depend on what happens in the Transfer market!

I still don't see anyone breaking the top 4 in the premiership but i can see Aston Villa improving again this season an could take 5th place.
Arsenal @ 6/1 does sound rather appealing

Sheffield United @ 10/1 Bet365 candyman

Derby to win the Championship @ 14/1 looks a good bet to me, I am sure that there will be a few players on their bikes and a few coming in, the owners do appear to have a bit of money and I think they will support Paul Jewell who IMHO is a good manager and as we know was on a hiding to nothing in trying to survive last season.
I think QPR are too short to win it outright but would be a good call for promotion Confused

14/1 with SkyBet the last time I looked candyman. The way Sheff UTD finished last season was most impressive, they would have made the playoffs if there had been a few more games, such was the push that they made towards the end, albeit just too late. I reckon they would have given Hull a good fight at Wembley and possibly gone up. I'm not sure whether 12/1 represents much value though.

The Championship is going to be a very hard division next season, a lot harder than last season, in my opinion. I would wait until towards the end of the summer to make an antepost bet on the Championship. I'm not even tempted at the 14/1 for my beloved Palace, I'd be happy with scraping into 6th spot again for a chance in the playoffs.

But if someone held a gun to my head and made me pick a team, Sheffield United would at very least be in my thoughts.

I think we could see Derby struggle and finish off the pace too; I have liked Jewell in the past, so much so that I would have been happy to see him go to Palace, but after this season, I've lost a lot of respect for his managing skills, not enjoyed listening to him whinge in post match interviews and he certainly did'nt get any reaction from his players.

Premiership
Man Utd - Still be the best more attacking side in the league and for me will go up another level next season, evens looks a fair price. Villa to battle Liverpool for 4th spot along with Spurs, think the top 3 will remain the same.
Stoke or Hull to beat Derby’s record of all time low points, both way out of their depth and both almost bankers to go down. I also feel Wigan will be lacking in quality once the vultures have taken the class players they have.

Championship
Derby, Wolves and QPR to come very close all worth bets to win out right, Charlton might be worth a small bet too. Forest to do well and make it into the play offs.

League 1
Southend – Finished the season better than anyone and have put together a very good squad, have a great manager and will be looking to push on again next season.

Conference
Burton Albion - Nigel Clough is still building for the league, got close last season and he’ll expect to go one better next, must replace top scorer Daryl Clare but if doing so will be one of the better teams in the league.

Hull to beat Derby's total and stay up. Phil Brown is a very wily manager and he spent seasons alongside Big Sam perfecting the 'avoiding relegation routine'. He will be employ these qualities to the full.

QPR for the championship are an obvious contender, but I keep coming back to Cardiff. If they keep Fowler and Hasselbaink (and they stay fit), as well as tighten the defence, they could be wroth an outside bet (not seen the odds yet though)

My very early thoughts are:

Premier League - difficult to call at the top with speculation over Ronaldo at Utd and Chelsea possibly being cherry picked by Inter Milan. Arsenal are probably a fair shout at 6/1. Two possible opportunities to profit may be Everton w/o the Big Four - an Each Way bet to nothing at the general odds. Also, can't really argue with most people's relegation suggestions but even allowing for the conditions, the Hull players looked out on their feet at the end of the playoff final and if fitness is a question mark then HT/FT draw/Hull loss may be a shout.

In the Championship, I will leave this alone until the season gets underway but if Reading can hold on to their manager and the majority of their players, their lineup won't be too different to the one that stormed the division a couple of seasons ago. Of the others; Sheff Utd, Wolves, and QPR would have to be considered while Bristol City seem to have been written off a little too quickly. However, at a big price Preston could surprise a few.

A predictable selection in league one where 7/2 about Leeds could look a very big price come the end of the season. At the other end, keep an eye out for relegation odds for my home town club, Walsall. The suspicion is that manager Richard Money left due to a lack of ambition and financial support from the board who have since appointed assistant Jimmy Mullen as manager. They have also released a number of first team players and finshed last season in really poor form.

League Two is anybody's guess but Rochdale, Darlington and particularly Wycombe (Peter Taylor looks a good appointment to me) will probably be there or thereabouts provided they don't suffer a playoff hangover. Of the others, Morecambe did particularly well in their first season at this level and could easily progress again while Shrewsbury may be a dark horse. They had been in and around the promotion region for the two seasons prior to 2007/8 and wouldn't be the first team at this level to bounce back from a poor season.
