16.45 - Sweden Allsvenskan
AIK vs. GAIS
10th Place GAIS Goteborg come into this game without an away win since July 14th 2007, which is near on a year and I can see this trend continuing today against a strong AIK at home who have not lost at home in the league this season with 4 wins and 2 draws from 6.
AIK currently sit in 3rd and will be wanting all 3 points to stay in touch with Kalmar FF and IF Elfsborg currently in 1st and 2nd ahead of them.
With AIK in fine form winning 6 of their last 7 in all competitions and a great 4-1 away win at Orebro in their last game, a home win looks a strong outcome.
But although unlikely GAIS do have a tendency to pick up an away draw from time to time, but I can only see AIK getting the 3 points.
Verdict: AIK WIN
Wrecks Rating: 8/10 |

Just looking at the stats for AIK v GAIS,
AIK are not prolific scorers. In 6 home games they have only scored more than one goal once, with two goals coming in the 89th minute!
GAIS started off badly away, losing 3-1 & 4-0 in their first two away games, but seem to have tightened up since, drawing 0-0 twice, 1-1 and a 1-0 loss to 4th placed Helsingborgs.
Doesn`t look like a high scoring match to me. |

Atletico MG-Palmeiras 1 2,25 6/10
Palmeiras without 6 regulars (Valdivia, Kléber, Gustavo, David, Leandro and Elder Granja), without both regulars GK's Diego Cavalieri sold at Liverpool, Henrique sold at Barcelona.
Atletico Mineiro have 2 miss def. Leandro Almeida and Nen. |

Elsborg to beat Hibs @ 2.88
This looks a real mismatch in my opinion, Hibernian have not even played a friendly match before this one while Elfsborg have played four matches since returning on the 22nd of June. They are an exceptionally dangerous outfit, they are second in the Allsvenskan and have the likes of Jari Illola, Denni Avdic, Stefan Ishizaki and Anders Svensson who will be most known to british fans. They have won four straight away matches and picked up a great 2-0 win at Djurgarden on Tuesday and they will take great confidence from that. Hibernian will be very short of match fitness and I dont think they have brought in many players in the summer and they may lack a bit of quality that will be needed to win this game, because they are not going to win it on fitness.
Draw between OFK Beograd and Panionios @ 3.4
Very tricky match to call, Serbia is one of the most passionate countries I have ever seen regarding football and I guarantee the Ultras in the Omlandski Stadion will be buzzing today. But Panionios are the better side and I have seen a little bit of them and they look like a very decent passing side, they finished 5th in the Greek league which is quite an accomplishment as they do have the likes of Olympiakos, Aris Saloniki, Panathinaikos and AEK Athens ahead of them. OFK were strong at home last term and in recent years it has been their away form that has cost them in Europe, I guarantee they will be a tricky proposition. But I dont think Panionios will lose this game, they are coached by Ewald Lienen who has been very succesful in turning clubs around and they do have a good blend of players from different countires which is always good to have in europe. Tight game and I fancy it to finish a draw.
Bohemians( ) to beat FK Riga @ 2.38
Been a bit of controversy about this game with the Latvians changing venue and not really helping Bohemians out in any way, that is a sign that they are running a little scared and they have every right to be. Bohemians came through a pretty comfortable first round tie against Rhyl of Wales and showed their ability to score plenty of goals winning 9-3 on aggregate. Their form away from home has been good before their defeat to Derry in the League Cup on Monday they had won four straight away matches and eight of their last nine. FK Riga lost their first leg at home against Fylkir in the first round but won 2-0 in Iceland last week. I dont think they are a very strong side and if Bohemians get the first goal they could crumple and that will only help the Irish side. _________________ Read my Boxing blogs, previews of fights happening all over the World. Your right about Hibs welshie. So far they have only brought in one player of note (Van Zanten from St Mirren) and they have lost one of their better midfielders to Coventry in England through the summer.
For those interested, Hibs will be missing their two Moroccans, who add a bit of flair. Some new on Elsborg also, apparently their keeper was touch and go after colliding with a post in training (ouch) but should make it. Ishizaki has a cold and is a doubt.
Hibs have yet to play this season...not even a practise game with Paatelanien saying ""We haven't even played a practice game yet, so we really need to focus and concentrate for 90 minutes," he said.
"Training has gone well, but there is a question mark before a game is played."
So with that and Elsborg's start to their own season, I reckon they should win....just an edit to this, Elsborg keep Fletcher quiet they should win.

anyone know about the game between Falkenbergs FF and Qviding FIF ???
some mahooosive market movement today, right now i've found the home win (falkenbergs) at 1.41 on Betfair and 2.15 on Centrebet , then the draw and the qviding fif win are shortening thick and fast. anyone know anything on this?
reason I ask is that I was going to lump on Falkenbergs today but this market movement is looking shifty. they are by far the better team, undefeated at home this year, whereas Qviding haven't picked up a win from 6 away games as of yet in the Superettan. there might just beloads of new injuries or something im just curious if anyone knows? just looks a good opportunity for some dutching if not
welshie? the kop? anyone ?? _________________ PLAY UP POMPEY |

Botafogo RJ v Gremio
Gremio @ 9/4
2nd placed Gremio look too big at 9/4 in my view, Gremio have losy only once in 7. Worth sticking with while in such good form. Home side Botafogo RJ have lost 4 from the last 6.
Goias v Fluminense RJ
Goias @ 6/4
Two poor sides, 17th and 20th but home advantage looks key and as a result give Goias the edge to win a tight game. Fluminense havent won in 6 games.
Sao Paulo v Ipatinga
Sao Paulo -1.5 (Asian Handicap) @ 4/5
7th placed Sao Paulo host 19th placed Ipatinga and can dominate this game from the off. Sao Paulo havent lost in 6 and won 3 on the row before a good away draw last game, Ipatinga have lost the last 3 games in a row each by 2 goals thus this -1.5 looks a safe and sensible bet. |

Don't bother reading the review mate. It was a poor match in which Sao Paulo were happy to stick with their 1 goal lead and didn't press forward. Both teams played some sloppy passes and Ipatinga maybe deserved the draw (they hit the bar with a rasping 25 yarder mid-way through the secind half). Sao Paulo did have a good chance right at the end but it was headed into the side netting.
All in all very poor.

End of the day i've almost thought that the Brazilian leagues are always very hard to predict some shock results consistently make games hard to read. _________________ PLAY UP POMPEY |

| Think you're right Brewster. And after watching that match last night with Sao Paulo, who won the league at a stroll last season, I for one won't be backing Brazilian football again for a while. |

It's like you look at how Santos have struggled this season, and then last season they ran the league ragged. It's crazy over there the football, I stick to European leagues - Scandinavian and English ones preferably _________________ PLAY UP POMPEY |
