This could be a short-lived thread, with many expecting Dennis Wise to step-in.
But he may be settled in his new role and they may look to other options.
Gus Poyet would seem an obvious candidate. _________________ luck determines the cards, skill determines the chips |

Sorry Murph did not notice your thread, but do not think Gus Poyet will be the next manager. You will notice i have just heard a quote on Talksport.
And i do not think Shearer will pick up ther poison chalice of Newcastle either. But to be honest i would love it ,just love it if they done well. |

I will still bet on Keegan. The backlash of this will be enormous!! Ashley may go and new owner reinstate Keegan. Well thats my dream anyway!!
whats happened is an absolute disgrace!! |

Well iv backed Poyet @ 5.6
This has been rumbling for some time.Mike Ashley is a business man.
Keegan and Wise have been at loggerheads since day 1.
And all evidence is Ashley has taken the side of Dennis.
Poyet is Wise's "go to guy" and no-one knows better than Wise that Poyet was the force during their time at Leeds. He has made a surging rise from assistant manager at Leeds to same position at Spurs, and was even mentioned with the position at Old Trafford when Queiroz vacated it.
Think hes a worthy favourite at the moment, and the fact he left Wise at Leeds proves he is hungry to climb the ladder fast, and being a Manager is the next step on that ladder _________________ luck determines the cards, skill determines the chips |

Great shout Murph. They need someone happy to be Wise's "b*tch". Poyet did it so well at Swindon & Leeds.
Ashley can't sell up in 5 minutes, even if he wanted to. So at the risk of stating the blatantly obvious the new manager won't be Keegan.
Nor i imagine should Ashley sell up will it ever be Keegan again. There's one thing sacking "King Kev", another thing actually choosing him as the man to try take you to trophies, Europe and all that when you have the opportunity to get someone else in instead. _________________ Steve |

Whatever the connections with Dennis Wise, I cannot see Poyet being appointed manager of Newcastle with such limited experience as a number two. With Spurs selling all their best players, how good a team are they now?
When Keegan first took over Newcastle as manager in the 90's he walked out when Sir John Hall was in charge....a few days later he was back....I still have a gut feeling this is not over yet and we will have to see how much pressure Ashley is put under by the Newcastle fans.
As for Ashley not selling quickly.....how long did it take Man City? |

| Newcastle always seem to employ a ' High Profile ' type of manager - who would be willing to step in to Keegan's boots ? I don't think the fans would accept Poyet and I can't see Wise becoming team boss - what has he actually achieved ? have I missed something here ? Could somebody like Pearce be tempted ? ( although I do think he is still learning at being boss ) The best options - probably look overseas or if the board want to take a gamble and win back the fans confidence go for the complete newcomer & folk hero ALAN SHEARER ! |

Wise all the way for me, I can't see that they'd hire him in that position then not give him the job when it comes up.
And after keegan's comments which high profile managers are really going to want to go and take control? |

Couldn't agree more, admiral. There's far too much money in the Premiership and far too much foreign influence.
For all the talk of the 'global branding' I wonder if the Prem would still have the same financial clout if people watching it in far flung corners of the globe got no sense of the tribal atmosphere in the stadium.
The season ticket holders and stand by fans who turn up week in and week out are where the game's character (and loads of revenue) comes from and they are getting shafted. A Tyneside, Merseyside, London or any other derby game played in a muted and passionless environment would just not be the same.
It will be a very brave (or possibly foolish) man who takes over at Newcastle, and to a lesser extent West Ham. Good luck to whoever it is and my money will be on both of them for the next sack race! |

I'll be laying Poyet's odds all the way. He has already stated that he is not going to consider any move to Newcastle and the approach would be unwelcome.
Thats good enough for us Spurs fans. |
