JOHNSTONE'S PAINT TROPHY
SCUNTHORPE (1.50) vs Grimsby
Well they let me down at the weekend but back Scunthorpe to quickly bounce back against currently the worst team in the English league. Scunthorpe have only been beaten at home once this season against Leeds. Grimsby are without a win this season and have even lost to such outfits as Barnet and look certain to be relegated out of the English league rankings. Scunthorpe won the last and only recent meeting between the two sides 2-0. This is a derby match between two local clubs and having witnessed the highlights of Grimsby's matches this season i shall be backing Scunthorpe at 1/2 to see them off. When its noted Scunthorpe have averaged 2 goals per game this season against League 1 opponents and now take on a side who have conceded an average of 2 goals per game against League 2 opponents the price available for a home win provides a small value.
May be further selections once Team news is released on Tuesday. One that has caught my eye for a possible upset is Rotherham. Who take on Leeds. But want to see all the information before i decide on this. (After looking into the stats further on this have now decided to lean toward Leeds)

Blue Square Premier/Conference National
Crawley Town vs. Forest Green Rovers
Crawley Town @ 1.65
Broadfield Stadium hosts league leaders Crawley and struggling a Forest Green side who have lost their last 4 games.
Since the beginning of the season, Crawley lost on their first home game to York city, but the Sussex side have since picked up 5 straight home wins and, as a result, find themselves top of the Conference going into this game.
Forest Green started the season with 4 wins from their opening 6 games, but have since gone 7 games without a victory. They have suffered heavy defeats at home to Ebbsfleet, while defeated 4-2 at Burton and twice took the lead last Saturday at home to Wrexham only to be defeated courtesy of a last minute winner for the Welsh side.
Eager to get back to winning ways, an upset shouldnt be ruled out, but Crawley should easily stroll to all 3 points.
Second tip:
Northwich Victoria vs. Kidderminster Harriers
£110 Kidderminster @ 2.2
Northwich have been struggling for a while now in the Conference, and currently sit bottom of the table thanks to 9 defeats from their opening 13 games. They have also picked up 7 defeats from their last 9 games, conceding 20 goals in that time.
However, there are two things that Northwich can take confidence from in the build up to todays game. They are that, despite their poor form, they have actually scored 16 goals this season which is the same as high-flying Cambridge United who sit just one place below Kidderminster.
Secondly is that although Kidderminsters defeat to Barrow ended a winning streak of 4 games, Northwich actually defeated Barrow 2 weeks ago after going behind early on.
However, Kidderminster are looking very good at the moment. Before their defeat to Barrow, they were on a winning streak of 4 games, averging a goal every 2 games in that period. Theyre biggest problem is the ability to leak goals, with 14 conceeded in their 6 games already this season away from Aggborough.
Both games last season ended in a draw, but although it wont be a walk in the park, 7 wins from their last 10 should seal all 3 points for Harriers.

England - BlueSq Prem.
Crawley - Forest Green
Can't believe the odds for a Crawley win here, would have thought they would have been 1.45 at best and not the 1.65 on offer. They are currently top of the league and although they were beaten 2-1 away to 2nd placed Burton on Saturday they have been in excellent form winning 6 of their last 7 games and have won 5 on the trot at home since an opening day defeat against York. They face an injury hit Forest Green side that has lost 6 of their last 7 games. Crawley has won this fixture the 4 times it has been played and should do so again tonight.
Crawley @ 1.65 2 points Bloody twats blew a 2 goal lead and conceded in the last couple of minutes
Crawley AH -1 @2.1 2 points _________________ Rafael de Silva - The next big thing

One tip tonight
Under 2.5 goals in the match between Vitoria Setubal and Maritimo @ 1.57
The Portuguese League is a pretty drab one and this kind of game is usually a pretty poor one, I dont expect many goals between both sides tonight. Setubal have scored a goal in each of their three home matches this season and their last five home contests have finished in under 2.5 goals. Goals usually come when one of the top three plays and both of these sides are pretty average and I just cant see goals being scored. Maritimo have had a good few days to rest after they played Valencia in the UEFA Cup on Thursday. They have failed to score in their two away matches this season. The last six contests between these two in Setubal have finished in under 2.5 goals and the last six overall have finished in under 2.5 goals, these two most probably wont play out a classic tonight. _________________ Read my Boxing blogs, previews of fights happening all over the World. Peterborough V Dag & Red
Peterborough go into this cup clash off the back of a great win over Gary McCallister's Leeds United on Saturday. The Posh manager has already stated that he will play a strong side for tonight's game in search of progression to the next round. They are a better side then their opponents and provided the players selected put in a good performance, they should win.
Selection: Peterborough AT 4/7 Bet365
Cambridge V Lewes
Cambridge are firm favourites for the match but are too short in my opinion despite the opposition lying in 23rd position. They should still see off a rather lack lustered Lewes side. Cambridge have dropped off the pace they set early on winning just two of their last 8 league games. They have also conceded at least once in five of those games. While Lewes have been on the end of some heavy losses so far this season, they do tend to at least nick a goal and thats my selection for this match.
Selections: Goal(Both teams to score) AT 4/5 Bet365
Over 2.5 Goals AT 4/6 Bet365
Stevenage V Mansfield
Mansfield are a big price for this game at 2/1. Stevenage have failed to impress at this early stage and were fancied to push for promotion back into the football league but after 13 league games they find themselves 8 points off leaders Crawley. They have kept just one home clean sheet this season and the last 3 home fixtures have had 3 or more goals in them. Mansfield have scored in 3 of their last 4 away games which is why i highly fancy OVER for this game.
Selection: Over 2.5 Goals AT 3/4 Bet365
Good luck if you follow any of my selections. |

i watched Guimaraes 0-0 Braga last night on Betfair and was surprised how poor the finishing was and these are 2 of the better teams. |

Don't forget Grimsby have just got a new manager and their fans and players are going to be totally up for this game - a local derby to boot. OK I am biaised as a Grimsby fan, but I've got my money on us to win this one and Dagenham to polish off Peterborough.

19:45 Barrow v Burton Albion
Burton have played 16 games including there three friendly’s ten of them there has been over 2.75 goals scored, in their 13 league games they have played they have scored 26 goals average of two a game and conceding 21 average of 1.6 goals
Barrow in their 13 league games 10 of them have been over 2.75 goals scored, they have scored 20 goals average of 1.5 conceding 23 average of 1.7
Barrow v Burton Albion
Over +2.75 @1.8
This game has goals written all over it
My prediction
Burton Albion win @2.2
Barrow 2-3 Burton Albion @29 worth a punt
Barrow win first half Burton Albion win second @29 worth a punt
(Burton Albion tend to sore more goals in second half must have fantastic team talks or something )

i fancy four anytime goalscorers
gary hooper scunthorpe - scoring for fun and was always destined for bigger things while at grays and southend, the boy can play
greg pearson burton - played with him at westham and was very promising, scoring for fun and much better then conference
lee mcevilly cambridge - big target man and is better then this division by far but his weight and lack of fitness affect him, scoring lots and expect him to be near the top goalscorer chart come end of the season
glenn murray brighton is not playing now - scored lots for rochdale last year and got the move to brighton because of it,hat trick last game and playing with better players is bringing the best out of him, quick and a good finisher |
