Sorry about the inclusion,

I just cant believe that a member of Englands backroom staff can say this... no wonder they wont win a thing under Capello................Quote starts now..................................

"If he is playing at the best of his ability then I am sure that Fabio will be seriously considering him."

Owen, who missed the World Cup qualifying wins over Andorra and Croatia, has scored 40 goals in 89 games for England and has netted five times for Newcastle so far this season.

But Peter Crouch, Jermain Defoe, Wayne Rooney and Emile Heskey have been picked ahead of him for the home game against Kazakhstan on 11 October and the trip to Belarus on 15 October.

"At the moment the four strikers ahead of him are all in form and scoring goals. Therefore, they are there on merit," added Clemence, the former England goalkeeper

"I just think that Fabio wants to have the best 23 players that he possibly can.

"At this moment he believes the four strikers that he has got are really in form and have done well for him. Therefore, he is being loyal to them."

LOYAL to THEM... I thought the best players turned out..not the loyal?

I think a better argument is, who is a more valuable asset to the squad, Owen or Beckham? 99% of people would say Owen, therefore Owen should be picked over Beckham.

Capello knows what Beckham can do for England, yet he has not seen first hand what Owen can do. Owen should've been included, not to start, but to come on for the last 20 minutes or so and show Capello what he can do, regardless of opposition.

England dont have a poacher in the squad, and thats something we should always have.

Capello said last time that Owen wasnt picked because he wasnt fit. Now hes fit and scoring, the reason is because Newcastle are in trouble? Thats ridiculous reasoning.

Although having said all that, I dont think its a huge deal as we dont really need him right now, but if we struggle anytime, hes the guy we need on the bench.

Sorry all - it's not about picking the best players but about moulding the best team - I didn't hear anyone complain about Owens omission AFTER the Croatia game.

Since 1990 England have had the players to win a big tournament. I say that as a proud Scot. The problem has always been the manager thinking the best way is to play the eleven best players. That never works. Look at the successful international teams throughout history. They have always had a 'spoiler' type who puts in a shift for the more creative players. A la Dunga for Brazil.

I actually think England are in danger of doing something with Capello. He is just what they need. No nonsense, obsessed with winning at any cost, no favourites, hard work and respect is what he values above all. Also, with Walcott you have one of the most exciting talents in world football.

BTW, back Norway DNB on Saturday. Their campaign is OVER without something. key injuries for us, all I can see is a draw or Norway. Phew

To be honest I don't understand why you wouldn't choose 2 keepers instead of 3 if you were an international manager? Worst comes to worst, if one of your two gets an injury you can replace him.
